@Donna Sillia I am glad that you are benefiting from the Campus and the membership. It always motivates me to continue in that way.

@Lynda DiGregor It looks like a wonderful vacation place!

@Suzy I tracked down Doris (dozibaer) and the brushes. You should be able to download them HERE. (Donna's link didn't work for me)

@Gerry Landreth Those clues make me smile! Do you still have that game? Where did you get those clues? From memory? or a screenshot?

@Anita Wyatt Although a whole organization would be too much, it would be fun to find something for all the Campus members to photograph! Maybe we can start our own fun movement!

@Michele It is a fun way to display text in the background!

@Ann Seeber The Toronto stamp makes me smile... as a Canadian, I obviously recognize all those items!

    @Marie-Claire Poncho's trip!

I found it on Google Earth, which is very interesting. It's also handy since I can simply open another window and Google the answers!

@Anja Pelzer That is a fun way to show the two-way travel!!

@Corrie Kinkel It is quite alright to blur faces for displaying them here. You will likely keep an unblurred version to share with them!

@Donna Sillia Isn't it nice to see all that you can create from scratch now? I love that!

@Marie-Claire Nice map. I thought the other map you used was great too. I think that Google map is one resource but there are many others too.

@Gerry Landreth My kids used to have a computer game of "Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego". That brings so many memories!

@Michele It is ok if you don't remember the source of something. I have also been collecting supplies for almost 15 years so you can imagine that I don't have the sources either.

@fiona cook I had plans to make videos but ran out of time. Maybe next time around?

@Ann Seeber You are correct: throughout the workshop, you will get a chance to go back and tweak the previous layouts to add elements.

I had all versions of the Carmen Sandiego games. And I never missed the live game show. It was silly, but the actors played it straight without taking themselves too seriously.

  3. Day 2. The elusive Carmen Sandiego slipped away to Tokyo. Argh!  Where will she go next, and can this gumshoe find her and return the Crown Jewels?

The flight path on the map is outdated. Russia closed its airspace and the current route is over the North Pole. The change adds at least two hours to a flight that is already twelve hours long.

  4. Day 6

"Come on, Barbie, let's go party!"

The flower uses pink pearls from Creation Cassel. The outline for the logo is the pink LED light also from the store.

The font is Barbie Medium which was used for the logo from the 90s. The new logo doesn't have an official font, although Dollie Script is a close approximation. Of course, the font color is Barbie pink (#e94196).

And just in case you really need more Barbie projects, the Barbie font is available for the Cricut as well as ALL of the logos going back to 1959.

And now I'm done. No more pink for today.

  5. I hit a snag on Day 4. One cup came out OK. On the second, the cutout part has me stymied. When I do "CTRL-A," the nodes are highlighted, but the selection box does not appear. If I continue, "Paste" is not an option, only "Paste as New Selection Layer," which puts it on a separate layer. I have started from scratch several times, hoping to figure out where I went wrong.

I ran into the same problem with the first example but was able to get it to work after a little trial and error. Unfortunately, I have no idea what I did differently.

  6. We had more storms this morning with another power outage. The loud booms and rumbles scare the cats, who may need therapy if there isn't a break soon.

Here are the Day 3 exercises.

  7. Here are the Day 2 exercises. We have been hit by storms for the last two days, knocking out power for 5-6 hours at a time. More are forecast for this evening.

In addition to storm cleanup, a substation shorted out because of a snake. It's not unusual around here, and it is a fairly quick fix. But it took someone off other jobs to take care of it.

Echoing other folks, I am learning a lot.

  8. I'm not so good at "eyeballing it," as Rachel Ray would say, so I worked with guides to help. BTW - Thank you, Carole, for the lesson on guides!

I often created nodes that were adjacent to each other. For the most part, it worked in my favor to refine the shape. Is there a way to merge them when everything is in place? I seem to remember it being mentioned in one of the masterclasses.

QP-7 - Our drive-thru safari. This layout was good for all the animals that were around and almost inside our car! The font is Brush Script and the ostrich head came from PNGALL. I scanned a flyer from The Preserve for the details and map on top. I will also post this in Facebook and in the comments post the little, very funny video that Jackie did from the front seat to the back and you'll see what I mean about the animals almost "in" the car. ?

    THE PRESERVE-SAFARI_600.jpg

Ann - do the animals seem well cared for? We had a similar zoo in Huntsville that was mercifully shut down. I'm only 1 1/2 hours from there so I'll put that on my list of potential day trips.

Gerry - I loved that movie and that song.  When will they write songs like that again?  Did you and your sister play this on the piano????  This layout is really COOL!!

We probably did play some arrangement of it. In addition to our solo work, we did a lot of organ/piano duos and piano duets. As soon as we sat down, our differences (and there were many!), disappeared.

@Jannette Nieuwboer Simple and effective with those yellow flowers. Your tweaking of the insects page is lovely and delicate.

@Anita WyattThose cats are so cute. The font is interesting too!

@kasanyHave you made sure that the bears photos were sized proportionally? I have a feeling they are a little squished.

@Mary Solaas It is certainly pink!!

@Susan EwartIt is true that Saya LOOKS grumpy!! Good thing you specify that she is not! You didn't have to edit the pickles to give them faces! It does happen that some punctuation is not clear in some fonts. Sometimes, some actual letters look odd! Those little libraries are getting popular here too. In town here, there are at least 3 that I know of and it is not a big town! I have a story to tell about those. I'll have to tell it some other time!

@Sharla Those little hearts are cute. They were not picture tubes that you scattered?

@Donna SilliaWhen we have a lot to share, we want to use all the available space!

@Corrie Kinkel You used a smart way to fill smaller spaces. Sometimes, we can use small areas for "close-ups" or details of a larger photo. If you don't have small photos, in a way, it is a good problem to have. Better than the reverse when one has ONLY small pics! I am sure that card will bring a smile to your friend as you made it especially with her preferences in mind!

@Anja Pelzer Lovely to see those tubes used!

@Gerry LandrethHow do you communicate with Lynda now?

@Julie MagerkaBeautiful colors in your garden. Is that Peggy's Cove in the picture?

@MoniqueN. You are using mats very creatively to add delicate elements like dates. For the card, you might not even need a cutting machine since everything is easy to cut with scissors. When I was doing decoupage, I remember images from Anton Pieck. I'll have to look to see if I still have any work from those pics.

@fiona cook Nice touch for the neighbours!

@Anne LampNice spring flowers! And don't worry about "being late". Life comes first! And as a DIAMOND member, you will keep access to the lessons anyways so you are not limited in time.

@liberaThe change in color matches the photos well.

If you have not finished this workshop, don't worry, the tutorials will be left available for another week. Of course, DIAMOND members keep full access during their membership.

I had to tap Lynda to get her attention and maintain eye contact. In her last year, her eyesight was also failing. When she was a pup, she could hear a chip dropping from the other end of the house and be there to scarf it up before it hit the ground. In her elder years, it would drop; I would wake her up, lead her to the kitchen, and point. I was always rewarded for my effort with a big sloppy kiss.

  12. My nieces. My oldest niece and her son are not in the group photo. She lives in another state and wasn't able to join us. I have recreated the photo at each gathering for the past few years.

The papers and elements come from various kits, bundles, and collections.

Rene, you are absolutely right! I was trying to think like that, but all I could think of was Gerry was hearing his cats talk to him….the male version of the proverbial “Cat Lady”. I decided he *must* have meant herding, but I believe you are right.

Doesn't everyone hear their cats talk? Mine are constantly reminding me that their ancestors were revered as gods and I should act accordingly.

So true, Gerry. I'm not sure of your title. I did find this meme, but the spelling is different...

    db7.jpg

Although I could make a case for the spelling, I'll 'fess up. I rely way too much on spell check, which does not work inside PSP. And to think I was a spelling bee finalist in grade school. My teachers would be appalled!
