Here's my day 5. I didn't enjoy going to the Farmer's Market when I was a kid but I have fond memories of our trips there.

I didn't use an alpha. I made a seamless pattern of the butterbean photo and used it as a fill for my text. I gave it an outline to help it show up better. I also added a small drop shadow. Perhaps I should add a bit more shadow... Butterbean and produce photos are from the web.

My mother canned every summer for decades. My sister and I were scarce when it came time to shell peas. Recently, one of my nieces talked about how she hated to shell peas and her sisters chimed in with the same sentiment.

Day 5  I skipped making a project for some of the the days and did this one .  The alpha is cass-Licorice1-Alphabet ex.(with the color changed on some letters) The spinach is from Google then cropped. The spoon is from C F.   ps I still don't care for cooked spinach, but I no longer put sugar on it.

    My StoryTime-Challenge-Day5 spinach 6 5.jpg

Momma always told me to put a teaspoon in other greens, like turnip or collard greens. When I would forget, she was adamant about reminding me several times. I'll try it in spinach next time.

  3. Day 6

The first time I heard the word "homophone" in English class, something clicked. Gerry vs. Gary. Guerilla vs. gorilla. They sound the same but mean very different things.

It was a new word that I knew would be important. (See how I did that?

Story Time #2 - The Bird, a Thanksgiving tale. I will post the text here as I doubt it will be large enough in a 600 format. The title is an alpha from Sheila Reid, the fonts are Bremen Bold for the pheasant and Bell MT for the text. I used the template but added my own extras to it. I had a lot in a Thanksgiving kit that I had stashed. I used wood pattern for the background and the round frame. The photo corners were in the kit.

    Here's the text:

Our traditional Thanksgiving dinner was always wild pheasant. My husband, Jack, brought home the bird and Debbie and Laurey were tasked with plucking it and I would stuff it with sausage dressing and roast it with bacon layered on top because wild game is not as juicy as a commercial bird.

The only drawback to having a wild shot bird was dealing with the tiny bits of lead birdshot that was embedded in the meat. We eventually solved that problem by going to a local game farm and purchasing a wild pheasant, freshly killed. I always preferred the taste of pheasant compared to a traditional turkey.

STORY TIME #2-THANKSGIVING DINNER OF WILD PHEASANT_600.jpg

We always have turkey and ham. After a couple of years of cooking a full turkey or turkey breast, I realized that no one really liked turkey. The next holiday, I took the easy route and picked up thick-sliced turkey from the deli counter.

I had time to play this morning while electricians were here ... fixing of all things ... the pool!  LOL  The alternating color title I found so much easier than the two papers one, which I WILL play with again later.  I'm glad to have a pool this year as it seems every beach for miles around me has had shark sightings and closures.  Some of those sharks even have drones following their journey.  I saw JAWS once many years ago!  That's enough to convince me to stay in the pool!  We have always had sharks out to sea, but as our waters warm in the Northeast, it seems the sharks are acclimating, too.  It is their home, so I guess I will let them have it.  We have had whales, too, deliberately attacking boats ... one close to here that threw the two men aboard into the water.  Yikes.  Scary.  They were fine, but the boat I bet wasn't.  Yup, POOL sounds like a great idea!

    Image42.jpg

Finding an alligator in the pool wasn't unusual in Florida. They can climb chainlink fences. I've been back in Alabama for eight years, and they are cropping up here. Maine is a bit cold for them, but I recommend checking before jumping in.

  6. Day 4

Momma was the sports star in the family. She's the one in the center of the front row.

My sister tried to follow in the tradition but failed miserably. She swung at a pitch and almost hit the pitcher with the bat that flew out of her hand. That was her last game.

  7. Day 3

I was more of an annoying child than a mischievous one. Having a younger sister was a perfect foil.

The picture is from Pinterest. Our station wagon setup was not even close to that elaborate. Ours was a large Igloo cooler and a grocery bag of paper plates and plastic utensils.

@Cassel The Universal Birthday Party was a way to get everyone together for my mom. I knew that the number of opportunities for gathering was dwindling. Although her decline made it difficult to do it again, she had good memories of it, which was what I had hoped.

Gerry, you always do such beautiful work.  The flowers on the G is so pretty.

Thank you for the encouragement. Carole's flowers were a happy accident. After clicking through so many options, that one popped up.

  9. Day 7.

One of the challenges with this one was grabbing hold of the correct node to move after cutting. I learned not to move the node too far before you determine it's the correct one. I had to start over a couple of times because I couldn't get it back in place to line up with the full shape.

Carole - Thank you for the reminder about Vectors in Action. I recall that all of the Vector masterclasses were great. I'll definitely go back to watch them again.

After every workshop I think about the Mickey Mouse song: Now it's time to say goodbye to all our company. See you real soon!

I am way behind in this challenge for various reasons.  One thing I can't figure out is how to increase the size of the size of the NODES so I can wee them better. I know Cassel said how to do it, but I can't figure out how to access the place to do that.  It is probably one of those DUH things, but I just can't get my head around it. Without doing this I get frustrated every tome I try to do anything. My eyes aren't as good as they used to be and my screen is not very large.

Anne - I have the same problem. From the menu bar, go to View and find Customize. From there, find the Options tab and you will be able to change the size of the nodes, icons, and scroll bars. It's easy to change back and forth depending on what you need to do.

I sometimes experience a problem because I somehow set up so that things get moved to Microsoft Cloud (one drive I thinK) and sometimes to my actual computer. I have not been able to figure out how to get everything to "stick" on my computer and so sometimes things just seem to disappear.

Randy - Open File Explorer and right-click on OneDrive. In the pop-up menu, locate OneDrive. From there, you should be able to choose how you want the folders to be stored: locally on your computer, solely on OneDrive in the cloud, or both.

  12. Day 6.

"It's Showtime" was me in avoidance mode. Playing with PSP is much more fun!

The tubes are LED lights from Cassel. I did two runs at slightly different sizes. One tube layer is in front, and the other is in the back of the text. The spotlight is from Pixabay, and the light is from a group of brushes I had in my stash.

I do have a couple of questions. Is there a way to have text that is not an outline? Rather than having a rope outline in the Sailing example, I would like to have the text as a single rope. My first thought was that it would need to be done manually, but I didn't like that thought. Is there another?

Second, at some point, I saw Carole do a neat trick that turned a preset star shape into a flower using the node arms. Can you remind me how you did it? I would only get it to work one arm of the star at a time.

oooh, I love that word "mephisitophelian".  I also think Titivillus, the patron saint of mistakes (Actually of scribes: that's who we blamed for calligraphy mistakes when I was learning calligraphy) is another culprit to our taming of the modes.. Here's the google interpretation of the dastardly demon:   Titivillus is a demon said to introduce errors into the work of scribes.

I found this on Etsy while researching my new favorite demon. I couldn't resist ordering one for my office.

    Text translated with Google

    Hello to all participants.

I arrive late, because I am in the boxes full to bursting from our 52 years of life together for my husband and me. I think I will have enough to sort through, throw away, keep and give away everything we have accumulated over these 52 years.

In addition to the move, I was surprised when I turned on my computer that all my saved passwords had disappeared. I think I'll have to change them all because the ones I have in note don't go through, as if I needed that!

Jnet: I wish you the best on the move. The stress can take a toll on you, so take care.

For the passwords, yuk and double yuk! When you can, check into password managers. There are several free versions of the more popular ones. Also, current browsers have built-in managers. I use one that can store information in the cloud and access it from anywhere and on any device.

    Good luck!

  16. Day 2 - I started over a couple of times today, but overall, it was easier.

Carole: Unfortunately, the cats are not supervisory material. Ever since River watched a documentary on ancient Egypt, she has constantly reminded me that her ancestors were worshiped and that she needs to be fanned.

  17. Day 1 - I kept getting turned around with this project, and I'm unsure why. It was likely the distraction of purring cats. Daddy was cornered in his tiny office, and they took full advantage.

  18. This could have been the cover of an invitation or thank-you card for my niece's wedding (the mother of the 10-foot-tall teenager).

The script font is Billie Ashley, and the sans serif font is Satreva. Both are from Creative Fabrica.

Thanks to Carole for another fun and interesting workshop.
