Hi, today I was able to finish the third card in peace. @ Carole: Email is on the way. The "doctor-doctor" Scrap is already older and unfortunately without Tou's and names, only "CD". The heart with EKG is from Pixabay- OpenClipart-Vectors4 points

(I admit, I'm obsessed with my cat! I rescued her when she was just 1 lb. We've come a long way) My idea came after seeing her sitting in my car night after night -- the photo is NOT mine - but this cat looks just like Adira!! Amazingly, my car looks just like this car! I got a lot of images from Creative Fabrica and the background from Vecteezy (attribution to: <a href="https://www.vecteezy.com/free-vector/road-background">Road Background Vectors by Vecteezy</a>)3 points

Mary, I find this layout very nice. The subtle background pattern, the Mandala, the gold butterfly, and even the paint streaks... I still have to try these techniques. I also like to include all the techniques of a Lab lesson in a single layout, as sometimes it can be challenging. Participating in the Bingo Challenge is another way, and I find it's fun. I have seen a few layouts with the cass-Circle photos script,... It has many possibilities.2 points

This happens to me, too. My theory is that if I try to make a new post soon after submitting another one, that's when it happens. Most of the time it's when I haven't lost the original. LOL2 points

@Cristina I followed Cassel's advice and went back to the page. As soon as I clicked to start a new entry, my old post popped up in its entirety! I was so glad! βΊοΈ2 points

When we moved here to our newish (less than 10 years old) condo 6 years ago, my family was concerned because it was situated next door to city low-income housing which is a sprawling, low rise apartment complex. Beyond that is another fairly new condo development. So, the population is fairly dense, even though there are horse farms just across the main road. Everything is lit up like daylight all night long and behind is an active rail line and industrial workings. Meanwhile, the county constructed what they dubbed the Rail Trail for walkers that stretches for miles and part of which is just the other side of our parking lot. We were getting too many casual visitors from it, so the Association put up a high fence behind our dumpsters which blocked the hikers access to us. But, meanwhile, though you could describe our population as truly eclectic from retirees to college students and all colors of the rainbow there had never been any serious police action here until recently. My unit is far in the back and the activity was way out towards the road and I came to find out that 3 young men, living together, had a dispute and two were shot, one killed and one escaped, though injured but he was later caught. He died later in the hospital. I was rather shocked that this happened in MY complex, not next door! I still feel pretty safe here though I still keep my car locked and door locked (most of the time) but I'm more aware this is a city environment, not rural as I was previously. I also just found out that if there is any trouble, it's at the other condo complex, far beyond the "projects" next door. There are always lots of dog walkers, baby-carriage pushers and roller skaters going past my unit. I do like all the activity, and it doesn't seem to deter the flock of Canada Geese and Black Vultures from visiting me and all my songbirds and squirrels coming for food I put out. Meanwhile, I've accumulated a crew of semi-feral cats who come twice a day for meals. Their number varies, though I count 6 or 7 now. My two indoor cats are rather appalled! π2 points

I live in a good old neighborhood. A few years ago we are pretty sure a house a few doors down was being used to sell drugs but nothing bad ever happened. There is no way anyone would have as many short time visitors as there was there. I know it was reported to the police and the visits finally stopped so I guess they had a little "talk" with the owner.1 point

It's sad that we cant even feel safe in our own homes. When I lived in another province, there was a lot of home invasions happening, mostly to elderly and some elderly were beaten and some were beaten so badly they passed away from the injuries. I was in my late 30's and even I felt scared to be alone in my own home, or to answer the door bell. In some of the invasions, they just busted the door in and went in demanding money. Does it seem that in current times it's somewhat worse because we have to be tolerant of so many things. In British Columbia (where I lived before), they recently made all drugs legal (I think the federal govt did that there as a test to see if it would make fewer drug addicts and crime because of the addiction). Now the BC govt is asking this new law to repealed because the situation got worse not better. It's like adding fire to fire to put it out. Corrie, that's a scary situation to be in. people on drugs are so unpredictable. Just last week in Edmonton a young 16 yr boy was walking their dog with his mother and a homeless man they've seen many times, jumped out of the bush and stabbed the young boy in the neck, he passed away at the scene. They think he had some kind of drug related "episode", thankfully he has been deemed fit for trial. It makes you want to go live far away from people. The older I get the more I am aware of situations like that and how helpless I probably am to do anything about it.1 point

Fiona, I went out on my front porch last evening to pick up empty cat food bowls and surprised a white-tail doe who was visiting! My daughter had come by to plant my patio container earlier and I think the doe got a bite of the newly planted flowers. I didn't have a camera handy.1 point

It makes you so angry but then you can hear of good neighbourly things that go on that restore your faith in human nature. Some of the refugees for example help in the communities giving back a little of what they have received. I greatly admire that.1 point

I have seen another deer today in the strangest of places. My friends and I passed through the very peaceful and massive, historic Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey as part of a country walk and some deer were paying their respects as well (or eating the flowers and shrubs). At this point we were in the American Military graves area. Didn't see any groundhogs!1 point

I will try again, as my first comment disappeared. π Bonnie, very nice layout... I didn't know this beautiful Mountain Laurel flower... I also like Lady22's templates and the masks she creates.1 point

Well, I've been working on my wild cat calendar for June so I thought I'd show it off as it has been created in May. I'll post it full size on Facebook so it can be printed @ 8.5 x 11 inches. I used a cass template from last year's calendar workshop. Introducing the critically endangered beautiful little Andean Mountain Cat from South America. The fonts are Wakanda for the June title and Britannia Bold for the rest. I love his little white moustache!1 point

My print outs have come out at the right dimension so I thought I would do another version of a card with the matching envelope using the popular Scrapbook square format. This one is 11cm card but the max I can do with an envelope is 14.5cm square. This card will just have one fold. The peony photo is mine and the background has a 'Paper' effect (Effects/Texture/Paper. I have made a pretend postage stamp for the envelope. No royalty on this one but instead a Brush Tip 'FancyFlower' with a small inner bevel. The Selection border around had the perforations made with the Eraser tool, size:30, Steps 118. (note to self!)1 point

Here's my Day 4. The cute kitty is from CF and the font is Scoot Charrita which we got free from CF via Cassel's Big 10 Event a few years ago. I used Cass corner punch B-999-17 and erased the outer edge because I thought it resembled cat paws this way.1 point

@Jeni Simpson Papyrus is definitely a traditional font to be used. @kasany Yes, a less ornate font is easier to read. @Michele Just a little trick if you want to add a link: link the text instead of adding the link separately, especially if it is a FB link as they are so long. @Julie Magerka Lovely cards for lovely people! @fiona cook Those dimensions SHOULD work. You just have to make sure that the printer you are using (if you are using at home) uses 300ppi. You might want to test it. @Doska St. Let me send you an email to check a few things to help with the freeze, ok? @MoniqueN. This shadow effect is great and it does give the impression of a thicker paper. @Donna Sillia When you want to create just an arc, the easiest way is to make three points: beginning, middle, and end, and change the nodes to Symmetric. Don't even try to make it freehand. It is a nightmare! π @Louyse Toupin As I was scrolling to your card and saw the croc, I was wondering what kind of greeting card you were making, until I read it! @Anja Pelzer Those black gnomes stand out on the red/pink card. Great choice. @Randy Maybe that font is standard? I know I have it too and use it regularly. @Anne Lamp Who knows when you might use one of those in the future? If you don't use those, you might create new ones! Now, it is the last "daily post for me. If you encounter any issue, don't hesitate to post and I will respond (I get a notification for every single post in the forum!) Also, remember to fill out the survey about this workshop! I find it interesting that some registrants have filled out the survey but never posted any of their projects. But that is ok. Maybe some are uncomfortable posting their projects. Keep them coming if you are not finished.1 point

After reading the latest blog post about using a split page, I downloaded one of the templates, and came up with this. Organza ribbon, (used Carole's bow script), paper bow. Banner from the masterclass. I was fortunate enough yesterday to witness these two 5-6 week old ground squirrels emerge from their undergound nursery for the very first time. They were so tiny, one would fit comfortably in the palm of my hand. Unfortunately, that wasn't likey to happen.1 point

Here is my day 7 made with the Diamond template. I food items are from C F "Barbecue-Cookout-SVG-Clip-Art-69956312" The red white blue ribbon is cass-Bow16-Sample-Blue-White-Red-Ribbonfrom Cassel. The eyelet is from cass-Eyelet2-sample The font is Freestyle Script. The blue sky with cloud top paper if form a photo I took a couple of years ago. I had fun with this one, but can't say I had fun trying to do the envelope, but I finally got it done, hopefully right. I suspect I will never use either one though, but I at least wrote down the instructions on how to make one.1 point

I created the card with my peony photo as a 5"x7" 1500x2100 and decided to set the envelope up to suit UK A4 standard size so I can use it for future. A4 210x297mm = 8.3"x11.7"". In pixels (8.3x300dpi) 2490 x3510. I hope I have understood this. The envelope (not shown) was a little clunky where I had applied the Pic tool Perspective scale on the flaps so I might redo that. I also liked the idea of printing a design on the envelope or maybe a pretend stamp. The font on card is The Billion. Loved the lace. So pretty.1 point

Lessons 6 (extra template) & 7 The grad pic is actually a former college student of mine who went on to law school and invited me to his call to the bar. The 100th birthday pic is a former teacher of mine who celebrated that milestone a couple of years ago and is still with us. She did get many greetings and cards for that occasion.1 point

Card 7, at last. I wanted this card to be softer and more feminine than others I have completed. I chose a photograph I took many years ago of a rose bush, although just the roses, I wanted a bouquet-ish look. The ribbon comes from Melo Vrijhof of Digital Scrapbook. This was colourised to match the lemon coloured rose at the bottom of the photograph, using Adjust > Hue and Saturation > Hue Map, something I had never noticed before, thank you, Carole. The font I used is one of my favourites, Romantically Free for personal by maisfontes. I angled it to fit in line with the ribbon without having to reduce to too small a size, and, I think, it works on the angle. Jeni1 point

And here is card 7 and already the last one. It is said before but I have enjoyed doing this workshop for the 2nd time and a refresher is always a good thing. Inevitably there are things that I have forgotten! I have loved seeing all the different cards made from the same templates and the inspiration they provide. Carole thank you for hosting this class again. This card is made for a friend who will turn 75 next month. I did a background as well because I want to print it as a double card. The photo I took some time ago from a bouquet I got. The lace comes from my stash, I think it was a freebie by Carole and I placed it on some sort of a ribbon for better visibility. The corner is a brushset of 4 floral corners that I found somewhere a very long time ago.1 point

I live in a fairly large village and there are incidents happing throughout the village. Like houses set to fire to settle an argument, criminal related of course, drug problems, problems with addicted persons, shootings once in a while. Luckily we never had such serious things going on in the street were live. However circa 15 years ago, in our old house, we had a neighbor who had a nephew that was a drugaddict, convicted for petty crimes and homeless, so he took him in. That started the problems because that nephew had friends that were the same as he was and they gathered in the front yard where they openly used drugs, fighting amongst each other, lots of yelling and they started selling drugs to schoolboys. Of course I spoke to my neighbor but he was unable to stop it. At one point, in the backyard under the covering they made a fire on the barbecue and put grass and old clothes on it and left it unattended. My husband was seriously ill and just home after 3 weeks in hospital, unable to do anything; every time I came home I had to pass those guys and had to ask, or command them to remove their bikes that were blocking our garagedoor. I had spoken to the police before and they talked with my neighbor, which didn't help. So now I called the police again because I was really scared they would set fire to the whole block of houses and this time they came to investigate and interview us about the situation. That helped, my neighbor had to come to the police station to get his nephew out. That guy was put in a closed institution for a while, but later when he was out again and visited his uncle I was frightened that the whole story would start all over. Since 7 years we live in another house in a very quiet street and until now. nothing has happened0 points
