Day 7, I finally got finished! This was a bird feeder at one time and then the cats came along. They decided it made a lovely place for an afternoon nap. It's on a pole so they have to jump from the deck railing to get in it. The bottom is screen so they get lots of air and shelter if it happens to be raining. They are Shadow, Whitey (all white except for an all black tail, Eclipse, Patches and Shiner. The font is Harrington, The background and clouds are from CF, the pics in the circles are mine and I made the butterflys in AD. They are actually made with the letter B! Thank You Carole, this was fun to do!8 points

I have stopped responding to all the posts, there is way too much and I wasn’t checking on a daily basis. Being with my family is far more important in these weeks I am away. Three weeks is so short and coming Tuesday I am already flying home😪. Congratulations to you all for the great and very different layouts you did and making it through this workshop. When I am settled back in I have a lot to catch up on and I have a whole bunch of new flower photos to use. Carole I’m sorry to hear we will need Affinity Designer as well, for me buying that one will have to wait until it will be offered for a reduced price. My trip and some new appliances at home have been enough for now, but I will watch what you will be showing. See you all soon!7 points

For me there is such a lot still to learn and practice in PSP that I have no desire to start up with another software package (re Affinity) so I hope tutorials and such like can continue in PSP. A big thank you to Carole with what you have to offer in the past and hopefully in the future on PSP. It is sudden that there was no warning from Corel about the discontinuation and it is an unfortunate sign of the times re the employee layoffs.6 points

I finally decided to try Affinity. Since my 90-day trial had expired, I opted to participate in the Beta. I downloaded this version and used the same code as for the 90-day trial. Here I am with a 90-day Beta version (2.6.3.3273). Papers used: - PS_JanetScott_SD_Ddls - PS_JanetScott_SD_DropsPpr - PS_JanetScott_SD_PnkChev - PS_JanetScott_SD_PnkChev @CasselI was unable to change the color of the "Texture" layer.5 points

Everyone has created such lovely template pages. Iam very behind, had a few bad days with health and to top it all off i had to get a new computer and transfer all my stuff. However hope to finish this workshop, but it may take some time. best wishes to everyone, Dawn.5 points

Apparently not. I logged in with my account (the one from the 90-day version) and received the download link.3 points

I'm also running late and haven't started Days 6 and 7 yet. But I watched the videos and saw Carole's tip to add two Outer Shadows, one being used as a "Reverse Shadow". Great tip!3 points

And 2 other layouts from this time period. In 1982, my parents and her sister/husband were going to rent condos in Hilton Head for a 2 week period in June. The first week they had the kids join them. There were 3 of us kids. The 4th one couldn't go as he was attending Boys State for the State of Ohio that week. 2 of the 3 kids were married and 1 of the couples had a 20-month old daughter. The other couple was expecting their first child. I was single. We spent a lot of time on the beach since our condos overlooked the beach and the Atlantic Ocean. One day several of us went to Savannah to do some touristy things. It was my parents and I, my 2 cousins and 1 spouse. Mom's sister and her husband, the grandbaby and the other spouse stayed back in Hilton Head. Kit unknown. These were some of the first pages I did back in 2008.3 points

I'm using ages 24 - 30 for this month, the years 1980 - 1985. At the age of 24 (since I turned 25 later in 1980), I made a trip with my boyfriend and another couple to the Kentucky Derby. We decided to go maybe on Wednesday and plans to get a motor home fell through. So on Friday, after we all got off work, we headed out and hoped to find a motel. Needless to say there were none in the Louisville area and we kept going south on I-64 and ended up finding a room in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. It was also well after midnight. We got up early the next morning and headed back to Louisville. We paid to get in the infield (nothing like it is today). Lots of people and unless you were lucky enough to get a space by the fencing, you really couldn't see much. However, Jim let me sit on his shoulders and Darrell let Jodi sit on his shoulders. But I will admit, I still didn't see much of the race. (Note: I finally got to see the race a few years ago on YouTube!) We had decided to head to Mammoth Cave National Park which was south of Elizabethtown on Sunday, so after the race, we headed south again. Sunday morning we got up and went to the park. After touring there, we headed back home. A side story was this was the year of a filly named "Genuine Risk". I bet a couple $ on the filly to "show" meaning if she placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, I would win money. My other bet was a horse owned by Jack Klugman (the actor) to Place (finish 1st or 2nd). Sadly, that horse finished 3rd. However, Genuine Risk won... I got $18! Jim made fun of me making that bet but he had to eat those words later as he ran out of money on the way home and couldn't buy our dinner... so I did! It is only fitting that I post these this week since the Kentucky Derby is this Saturday, May 3rd. And, wouldn't you know, it was on May 3rd in 1980 as well! Templates by Scrapping With Liz (Daily Life Templates). Kit by Bella Gypsy (Hold Your Horses) which is retired.3 points

Those times in life are hard and it feels like you will never get through it. I know the feeling. What's the answer, I wish I knew. I had a few years like that (unexpected pet deaths and two injuries - I like to workout and have a physical job it was hard) and I just kept thinking...this can't last forever. It seemed like it did, but lately I've been getting my old self back. I hope you turn corner and find away back too. It's really emotionally hard to lose the things you loved doing, it's a feeling of being lost or in limbo.3 points

Lab 14 Mod 2. Requirements: ink dot paper - I used a pink paper behind it and used the blend mode Luminance and so the ink dots are pink; Irregular Text Stroke - the title. The font is Arial Black as was suggested. The picture is of my grandmother (mom's mother) taken in 1953 and she was in her 70's (late 70's). It is my favorite snapshot of her - in her kitchen in Upper Michigan - a wood stove which also kept the kitchen warm - and she used an old fashioned iron to iron clothes - it was not electric, but was heated on that old wood stove. I remember also the chickens she kept and would kill one (an old hen) on Saturday and cook it on Sunday - our Sunday dinner. She had 7 children and the middle son stayed home - never married - and took care of her and grandad. the rose at the corner of the picture is one isolated from a group by Creative Fabrica. I see that the ink dots paper doesn't show up so well. I will post the paper separate.3 points

Lesson 4 - PSP Photos are mine. The crow is sitting beside the sun. It was the summer of wildfires and the sun was a white orb in the sky that you could actually look at, very surreal. the original color is actually a desaturated brown but I changed the color balance to give it blue hue to match page, Fonts are: Carmina Blk BT (title) and Castello Signature. Probably from Creative Fabrica, one could be from Google fonts that came with FontBase that I use. I hope to get to the last 3 lesson this week, but it's a busy one with a big (to long ongoing) project that will finish by Sunday.3 points

I don't know the name of that flashy yellow Iris. My next door neighbor was a member of the Iris Society and developed her own cross breeds. That one may or may not have been one she developed. I wish I knew and I haven't seen her for years so I don't know how to ask her.2 points

Yes, that is on purpose because the level of grey that is commonly used in templates have no actual meaning. Some designers might set that placeholder to be black, others will set it to white, or grey. Some templates even have colors and it is just for "the look" of the template without any real meaning as far as transparency. @Marie-Claire and @Bonnie Ballentine Glad to see your layouts, even if you started late. You really caught up! @Julian Adams Most of the tutorials will be using Affinity Photo, but, in a future workshop, we will HAVE to use Affinity Designer to complete some tasks. The current version is 2.6.2 for the suite. @Connie Collier I wonder if you might have either forgotten or hidden the shadows on the Floribunda layout. They are there in the Before the rain one. @Hank Sobah That is correct. Corel has decided to no longer develop PaintShop Pro (and VideoStudio too). All the programmers who used to work on PSP were let go. And even the one, in Ottawa, who was in charge of the PSP page on their site (with the freebies) and their newsletter, was let go. There was no OFFICIAL announcement, but with all those layoffs and the fact that the beta-testing team was dismantled completely last year all leads to that "unofficial" state. Will they change their mind in 5-10 years? Would another company buy PSP to develop it? Nobody has a crystal ball. @Linda RexfordCats love paper bags (and boxes). One of my cat discovered that potatoes make for a good toy: they roll, they make some noise, and move irregularly, and they can be clawed. When I accidentally dropped a potato, he played with it for such a long time, it became a habit of dropping a small potato whenever I would need to peel them, just for him! @Jenny MacKayThose are wonderful sculptures. I had never heard of them! I won't do any daily feedback but if you have more layouts to post, go ahead. We have a large audience to show to! But if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask as I get a notification of every single post.2 points

I finally finished my Day 7 assignment for PSP. Here is my Community Cat Crew, including the elusive Black Beauty, who is new. The title font is Dingo Nursery. The papers are from Jessica Dunn. Everyone but Batman is scheduled for TNR (Trap/Neuter/Return) towards the end of May when there's room at Tara, the rescue vet. They'll also get their vaccinations and parasite treatment. I think at least one is possibly pregnant but we have over 2 months gestation so we may catch it in time. My Brandy was in the same boat. I'm not sure about Beauty as he/she appears to be a full adult and even someone's lost pet since he/she wants to get in the house and be petted*. Definitely not a fearful feral. I have put him/her out to the local Lost Pet website. We'll see what happens. *My 3 indoor cats would object to a visitor.2 points

With so many wonderful posts in this thread (nearly 400!), I have not been able to keep up. I couldn't participate this time. But I'm getting back (slowly) to a more normal pace of life. So many things going on with family issues, all rather time-consuming and exhausting (and completely beyond my control). I somehow have held the opinion that layouts need to be happy and upbeat (flowers, butterflies, unicorns, etc.) to celebrate all the big things in life. But I see layouts on many sites and, while many are like that, others are more mundane, and some are quite sad or soulful as they express darker emotions which are part of daily life too. Everyone who has posted in this Workshop has done a great job. You've sure kept Carole busy keeping up!1 point

And here is my day 7. I must say that I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Affinity. The learning has only just begun. I am looking forward to learning so much more. Thank you ever so much Carole for introducing us to Affinity. What will we ever do without you! I used the Cowslip photo as a background paper, created a date stamp. I created an outlined text for the title WILD. which is quick and easy to do. Instead of using labels or tags, I often like to use brushes. As many will know, I am not a fan of patterned papers, I find they can be a distractation from the main focus, being the photo or photos. Which to me must take presidence. I have one more week at home in the UK, before returning to the prairies. My little girls and I have sauntered through woods and fields in search of wild flowers, creating memories, which I will undoubtably cherrish and showcase.1 point

Day 6 - On the West Australian coast about 2 hours north of Perth are The Pinnacles of Namburg National Park. It covers an area of 17,487 hectares and provides an extensive area for native animals and bird life. It is an amazing place to visit. You can drive or walk among them. All photos are mine and the papers are photos - the background photo is of a beach totally made of shells.1 point

I noticed earlier today that there were a bunch of spam posts on this site that were about "robinhood accounts". Just can't get away from spam... it is everywhere! Editing to add that a quick google search shows that Robinhood is an online Commission-Free Stock Trading & Investing company based in Menlo Park, California.1 point

Carole, I have every intention of continuing to use PSP. Also I, very much appreciated your kind commet that you made about my wordart. Here is my day 6. The title and flair buttons were done in PSP, the rest in Affinity. British Wild flowers. From left to right, coastal sea pinks (Thrift family), wild garlic and cowslips. Top flair button: periwinkles, bottom one are violets. I do take a little time scrolling through all the wonderful pages, far to many to comment on individually. All I can say is congratulations to one and all, each and every one are uniquely awesome and inspiring.1 point

still using Affinity 2.6.2 and finding it a joy to use. This is lesson 2, i am a bit behind though due to some more life issues but i will get to finish. The photos are from pixabay and created a colour swatch from it in affinity photo and used those colours on my project. Beige coloured paper created from a pattern, teal blue paper free from Chantahlia Design, foliage design is an abr brush imported into affinity. again i give thanks to Carole for the templates and the video as they are well explained. i have been looking at everyone's projects for this workshop and you all have created lovely work. best wishes to everyone, Dawn1 point
