  1. It can be done in either, but I did it in Designer because to me it's easier. I have Designer set up for vector work and have tools handy for the stroke, styles etc. I just used the pen tool and drew inside the T and changed it to the Dash Line Style stroke. You can change the size of the stitches with the numbers at the bottom. You could also duplicate the letter, remove the fill color and change the outline, Convert to curves and then adjust the nodes for your shape. I hope this helps.
  2. I thought I would give this a try. This was done in Affinity using both Designer and Photo. This is Trax, he is my baby, that is now 15 years old and deaf. But, he's still my baby. The mask is from Jessica Dunn and the splatters are from Frankentoon. I made the T and the buttons. I've never made a stitched edge before but I think I did it correctly. The texture on the T is a free style from an old friend called Felts. The Font I used is Californian FB for the lower case and Bauhaus 93 for the T. The background is a color from the picture with a snowflake over lay and a blend mode of average. My biggest challenge was what to do with the buttons and splatters.
  3. Beautiful layout and a beautiful bird! I'm in the US, but there are birds, like this one, that we don't see where I live.
  4. Anne, your butterfly is beautiful!!! Do you still tat? The results you got from it are amazing!
  5. Cristina, I am curious, what is the Affinity Designer Module 1 course?
  6. Sorry, I must have misunderstood something. I agree that it would be nice to change the fonts to italic or bold, but it is not possible at this time in Affinity. Each program has their pros and cons.
  7. My first challenge! The photo is mine and the mask is from Jessica Dunn. Sadly nature has taken over the space where this Iris was and I don't see it anymore.
  8. I looked on the forum and it does state that the B and I buttons are disabled in the Affinity apps for font families that don't include those styles. If you are using fonts that do have the styles, you can change them all on the same layer. You just highlite the word you want to change. I just tested it out and this is what I did. Different fonts and styles, all the same text box and same layer.
  9. Day 7, this has been a great workshop! Thanks Carole for all the time and work you put into this! The photo as always, is my own. This beautiful bird doesn't show up often and is a treat to see. This one is a male and he was there for a short time one day and gone! We must have been a rest stop for him I have so many brushes I had to play and settled on the leaf brush instead of a polka dot. The brush is from Frankentoon, the mask is from Sheila Reid.
  10. Beautiful image, I love macro shots! Really well done!
  11. I did the Veronoi filter but really don't care for it. I did use a radial blur, maybe too much, but it was just too busy for my taste.
  12. Day 5. I fiddled with this a lot, still not really happy with it, but maybe it's the shape throwing me off. I will definately be playing with masks for awhile and hopefully I will get better with them. They still confuse me for some reason. As a side note, the male and female catbirds look the same. We seem to have quite a few of them here and they nest in my big rose bush every year.
  13. I think your layout looks great! We are always our own biggest critics aren't we!
  14. I love how you did the background on this. It almost looks like sunflowers in the back ground. Beautiful pic!
  15. Day 4 with Affinity. This was fun to do and so easy! I used one of the brushes from Carole's link. The back ground is a texture layer with a colored pixel layer over it. Then I used a blending mode to get the look and color I wanted.
