    • Oh Corrie, that is horrible for you.  I am no stranger to back pain, having had back surgery ending with 2 rods and 4 screws and brand spanking new disc (in 2011).  I had a severely crushed disc, and my expected 4 hr surgery went 5.5 hours.  I have zero back pain since the surgery.  I got really lucky.  I know how awful nerve pain is and I remember thinking if I could ride out the wave of pain, I'd be able handle it.  Nope, I just got to the point I felt like I was going to throw up.  Like you, walking was terrible.  I was good for about 3 minutes, then the pain had me sweating and nauseous.  Sitting was fine and a relief, but the weird thing was after the surgery and I could walk and walk and walk for long periods, sitting became uncomfortable (soft tissue issues left over from before the surgery.  I hope you are able to get on a cancellation list if they have such a think there. I got lucky with that - had a consult, wanted time to think about it, went back 2 weeks later for more questions and decided I couldn't live like I was and opted for the surgery.   I asked to be put on a cancellation list and while driving home from that appt, they called and said there was an opening in exactly one week from that date.  I jumped on it.  I hope you can find some relief somehow until the time is up.  Maybe some people will drop off the list and you'll move up faster.
