I started working in the relatively new McDonald's in my town during my senior year of high school. I got the job because I was 18 and could work past 10 p.m. to do the closing chores needed. I worked all summer before heading off to college. When I came home for Thanksgiving, I stopped in to ask if I could work during the break between semesters and they said yes so I worked during those 4 weeks over Christmas/New Year's. At that time they told me that I would be welcome to work there the following summer if I wanted. So I did. So my job during my early college years was McDonald's. The funniest story though is that my dad absolutely loved their "fresh" French fries. He was under the impression that they cut fresh potatoes every day for their fries. Boy did I burst that bubble when I told him they were frozen! He still loved them. I quit eating fast food about 15 years ago unless I am traveling. For me it was for budgetary reasons... fast food was expensive even then. Here is a layout I did 9 years ago about the store I worked in. The owners were building a new store next door to the old one. The store I worked in was torn down and is now parking for the new store. One of the owners was an employee at this store when I worked there in the mid-1970's. She worked her way into management and after getting married to another manager, they set their goals of owning their own store. Last I heard, they own 3 or 4 in the area.5 points

Fast food is something we seldom have... But when we travel by car, we always have breakfast at McDonald's, usually two hours after leaving home... It started to avoid traffic on the highways and became a tradition... When my niece and family come here, and we travel together, we do this, and they like it too... It's also something they usually don't do. We used to have the Sausage McMuffin, and, who knows why, for a few years, they don't offer this here anymore. 😞 Although it is not something we usually do, the first kit I bought (even before knowing Carole) was a Fast Food kit from KAagard that was offered 50% off at The Lilypad... I was just starting to get familiar with scrapbooking.4 points

My mojo has escaped again and so I've been playing around, This summer I took a snapshot of a wall covering that I thought would make a good background. This morning I took a square of it and make it a pattern. Then I worked on the pattern and made it an overlay and reduced the opacity to 50% and then made a copy of it and put it in my Textures file. Then I made a paper of blue color and used effects>texture effects and this is what I came up with.4 points

Yes, Happy November, weathers permitting! UK due for a winter storm soon so battening down the hatches! I have just read the Campus newsletter 31 October and was interested in the Colour Replacer article so had a quick go with a photo that I took on holiday that originally I had intended to make into a silhouette. I turned the colour photo into black and white in Effects/ Photo Effects and then applied the Colour Replacer using the dropper tool to source the colours I wanted to change. Just a bit of fun but it opens up more creative possibilities.4 points

I was practicing adding text. I got the poem from an internet site where people can submit their poems. There was no name added and it also doesn't mention that you can't post it anywhere. Only it stated that you are not allowed to publish it under your own name. I just thought it was a beautiful poem. de Font is Agency FB. I don't remember where I got the pumpkin.3 points

Sue I'm with you on this topic. My husband and I have only be to a McDonalds when our, at that point, young children insisted we had to go there. It was once, although nowadays we have a McDonalds in our village we have never been there. The only other time when I was in Switzerland visiting my daughter we had a quick salad and that's it. I do like fries but not with vinegar, here we eat them with mayonaise or tomato ketchup. Mayo for me.3 points

We have a word in Dutch that more less means the same but I wouldn't have dared to use inexpressible because it is a literal translation from Dutch. I learned from experience that it can be tricky to literally translate something. Often that's ok, but it can go rather wrong too!2 points

I enjoy potato wedges. I make my own seasoned wedges cooked in the oven.2 points

I don't know if I am in the minority today, probably not so much as I was a decade or so ago. I have never ever had a Burger King meal. Admittedly when McDonalds appeared on the scene in the UK in 1974 in England. I tried my first McDonalds in 1983, the year my daughter was born. It was a while before McDonalds came to Wales. Several years passed before I bought the next McDonalds. I can count on one hand how many I have bought, as a treat for my children. I haven't had a McDonalds or similar fast food in over 25yrs. I'm not a fan of traditional French fires, (thin strips) I favour proper chips, fat strips of fluffy potatoes deep fired, with salt and vinegar (has to be malt vinegar). Preferably my own. Admittedly, on occasion I enjoy a Tim Hortons chicken noodle soup or broccoli and bacon soup with a blueberry fritter. Supplying my own beverage of water.2 points

Hi Carole, I have already replied to your Win-Info email, but I would also like to thank you very much for the great joy you have given me. For me, 2nd place is like 1st place because I need that right now. YES, I would like to continue to get to know PSP and continue to be active in your forum. Thank you! That made my day today. Yes, along the lines of Carole's corner punches. I have that font. using the from vector shape, it gives good clean edges. Or you could convert to a raster, using the selection tool, delete. Using that technique, you could remove the edges, leaving only the flowers, then use the selection tool, and delete.1 point

And yes people who eat too much of the wine trendil can become slightly intoxicated. Priests of ancient Israel were not allowed to eat anything from the vine during their service in the temple. That's why I know. I came across that once so I figured out why.1 point

Oh nooooo, you just added another cool word.....inexpressible. I know, have I been living in a cave all my life. But I love ineffable the best.1 point

The waxwings here do that too. We have a mountain ash tree that has berries they like. We have had to pick them up off the ground and put them up high away from the neighbours cats. And sadly we've had some dead ones from window strikes after getting drunk. We had to put bird strings on the outside of the window. I have Acopian bird Savers - I used the instructions from the website to make my own and put them on 5 of the windows that any bird has struck. Only two strikes in the last 5 years (that we know of).1 point

Inexpressible, listed above is the word I'd say describes the meaning of ineffable best. I use it when I'm unable to find the words to describe something which is so wonderful it's beyond words. I feel it's one of the best compliments you can pay anyone. Ann refers to the word in a different context to how I use it. I haven't read the book Good Omens, so It may or may not have been used in the book, but used in the series to describe the characters. In the series the word had been nominalized. If my knowledge of grammar hasn't failed me, the adjective word ineffable has been used as a noun.1 point

A pretty page. Did you know that birds like the Robin, and many others that feed on berries, can fall over drunk after eating to many of them. It happens here to the Waxwings that winter here feeding on berries. I like what you did with the floral corners. What would be cool to do, is to use from vector shape, delete the background layer on all four corners, then add a drop shadow to the background paper. Add a matching page below.1 point

The new McDonald's was built on a property that at one time had originally been a Ponderosa restaurant. When Ponderosa closed, it opened as a different non-chain restaurant that eventually closed as well. Then the building was torn down due to structural issues and the lot was empty so McDonald's snatched it up to build the new building that had 2 drive-through windows. The main reason I took the photos was because I had worked there! The Ponderosa building didn't mean anything to me so I never documented it. Ironically, the new McDonald's was built in 2014 and I have never been in it or even used the drive-through to get food!1 point

All the challenge threads stay open forever! This also allows you to browse and go back to older challenges if they inspire you. Of course, you can also pick an older challenge and post it in the "What are you working on?" thread for the current month.1 point

Hello everyone, just wanted to let you know that I was sick for a bit.. Did not have covid, but a really bad cold.. Was to the doctor, have been given meds for lung infection. She wanted me to go to hospital for x-rays but I said, no.. Starting to feel better,, but still have a cough that will not go away. Have had this for over a month now, just starting to feel like myself. I was on bed rest for a couple of weeks and my wonderful husband took great care of me. Anyway, just thought it was time that I popped in to say "Hello"..1 point

I worked at McDonald's when I was a kid so I have eaten plenty of their food! I don't, as a rule, eat at fast food chains anymore, but I like Wendy's chicken sandwiches and love their Frosty.1 point

I'm seeing this word on popular media a lot lately as it is used for the characters in Neil Gaiman's Good Omens. The Ineffables are an angel, Aziraphale, and a demon, Crowley, played by Michael Sheen and David Tennant. They are charming and hilarious. Season 2 of the show is coming shortly. I can't wait!1 point

I took some time out from the scripting curse to make this layout. The mushrooms are growing a plenty at the moment thanks to the still mild temperatures and lots of rain. Although I live in a village the mushrooms are on every piece of grass around the trees. One day there is nothing to be seen and the next it's full of lovely, nice and crisp new ones. I had a photo of autumn leaves and used it as a background with a big blur and some blendmodes. I made a co palette from that photo and all the colors are from it. The plaid is made using the script cass-plaid 3 and the big brown leave in the righthand corner is done with cass-embroidered patch. I have one corner lifted out of the frame and I have always a problem doing this kind of things, because my hands are not stable enough anymore, but in the end I got something acceptable. Al the other leaves come from my stash and again with blendmodes to tone them down. Fonts are Madelyn Calligraphy, Bavire and Leaves Baby for the leaf dingbats + Arial.1 point

This font isn't one I would have chosen myself. I can see that it would appeal to some for a particular Halloween project. Halloween has never appealed to me, probably because it isn't that popular at home, certainly not when I was growing up, as it is in North America. I wanted to participate in the challenge. I edited some of the letters to my liking, added leaves from another font. The letters A and E, I resized, moving the letters before them closer, by changing the text to character shapes. Inner bevel. Photos were taken yesterday. Background paper is a photo, 2 overlays, and a texture.1 point
