  9. Hello I am Henry, I have taken this course a few times but I have been away from doing this for something like a year, so I thought I needed a refresher. I have some old black and white that depict life in the 30's & 40's. I am not sure this is my grandfather, but I know he travelled in this kind of Buggy.

  10. I have to admit. I worked on this yesterday using the download from last year. I don't want to discourage the newbies but I see I am not the first to post a extremely shopped table and sandwich. Some of us have done this several times and have so much fun we do it again. As for as this creation, I got the idea to do a Halloween one a few days ago and one thing led to another as usual. I think I will NOT be eating off that table.

  12. Work space...dark gray Background...medium Standard tool bars for the Edit workspace. I added the script toolbar. I love the light gray work space...it's what I had in PSP 8. It is very bright on my screen so the dark gray works better. Wonder if there are setting for my monitor to ton down the brightness of the light gray. I got carried away with my sandwich...mine always have a lot of meat and tomatoes, some cheese, no onion. Dessert always if possible. Chips sometime. Never drink coffee.

  14. I redid my layout for this challenge, because Sue was very kindly suggesting that I had used the brush tool for my cornerpunch and yes I had done so. I myself wasn't very happy on how it looked, but was to tired to see what was wrong. Therefore I redid it with the eraser brush and now have the cornerpunch as it should be. I have already told Sue that I appreciated her comments and so also here thank you so much Sue.

  16. We recently had some chats going on about good programs to watch, many of them on PBS (Canada & US). After watching this two-part documentary by Ken Burns I had to make something to express how profoundly moved I was by this series. He has been making documentaries for 40 years, and his productions are all extraordinary, whether they are light-hearted or heart-breaking. This one had me in tears. He uses the bison as a theme for the near-genocide of a species, and then ties it nicely into the way indigenous people have been treated. It's a hard watch, but so worthwhile.

  19. We have "Sinterklaas" - Santa Claus in America, Canada, Great Brittan. Sinterklaas has his birthday on December 6th and the evening before it is celebrated. In the older days is was just for kids, who could put their shoes by the stove or mantelpiece and then found some small gifts in or next to their shoes when they had been behaving themselves. When I was young this had evolved to giving each other gifts and make surprise gifts. Mostly my mam made little notes with our names on it and folded them, then we had to draw one of those notes and for the person whose name was on the note you had to make a surprise. In this surprise came a little gift and it was all about making something great and tease the recipient, but in a nice way. It also had to have a little poem also making fun of that person or use something funny that had happened in that year. My grandparents always came too. Later we did this with our own kids and sometimes I made a paper trail through the house and they had to go from the garage to the kitchen, their rooms, look under the bed and every time there was a new hint. In the end of course there was a gift, this worked very good for an impatient child. When the kids were young they believed Sinterklaas and his helpers had concealed their presents and wondered how he new the bad or good things that had happened. Later when the kids were older they made gifts and surprises on their own and it was a couple of weeks of: do not enter papers on the doors of their rooms, cries of where are those scissors, glue, tape and mam I need more tape, paper , pencils and so on. And on the evening of the sinterklaas party there was a feeling of expectation and can we start now please. I remember a gift my son made for me that I still use today. He crafted a wooden box for those little post-it papers and it was packed in some sort of primitive computer, because we were in the days of the first home computers. Sadly the poem that came with it, got lost over the years. In school this was also celebrated and every pupil made a surprise gift for a classmate who's name was on the paper. Every one always hoped he/she had the teacher, because it was a legitimate way to make fun of their teacher. The shops had great and lovely displays in their windows and the X-mas deco came after Sinterklaas had left, but nowadays it has become not so important any longer and we already have X-mas displays and commercials everywhere.

  20. Lesson one. I made a print of my screen to show how I usually work when I'm creating. I set the '23 to English to become better acquainted with the English digital jargon in PSP. I also have the '18 working, but it is set to normal Dutch. I deliberately opened two windows. I will submit the best.

  22. Hi, This is my first attempt at scrapbooking. I hope I will be able to produce something nice. My husband and I did an amazing trip to Scandinavia a number of years ago and we loved this area so very much. I am very slow at learning due to brain damage after an operation but this program has helped me so much. I love it. I have included one of the photos I wish to illustrate.

  24. These layouts are very pleasing to my eyes, Mary. Is this still Day 10? You usually label each page, and you didn't this time. Like Corrie said, this will be a wonderful, coherent album of your fascinating trip.

  26. I will look for this one. In AB we have Elk Island Nat. Park where conservation of Plains Bison is going on. They have sent bison all over the world to help repopulate areas they used to be in. A big part of them establishing in areas is natural vegetation which is hugely stripped where any farming has/is going on. It's a fine line, I have farmers in my family and my niece's sister-in-law works at Elk Island with the bison conservation efforts. We need to find a balance for everything on the earth to thrive dont we? I'm sure I will shed tears watching this one.

  27. Hi Carole, after an exciting morning, unpleasant phone calls, video worked, then didn't work again, sound went away, the video didn't work in Window Edge either. Then I researched online and found some browser settings that could be responsible. When I then entered your website as "Manage exceptions", the video worked again with sound. Now I was able to watch and listen to Day 2 lessons in full. Compliments, even without subtitles in the video, I understand your English very well. By the way, I have German terms in the toolbars, but they are in the same place as the English terms. I'm happy to be able to move on now. The layers are no stranger to me, as I also have them in PI X3 and have already taken a PS course after 2010. Thank you very much for help?

  28. For several years now a group of Facebook Friends and I have signed up for a Secret Santa exchange through the website Elfster. It allows you to post wishes, which is a big help when you don't really know the people intimately like family. There's a set budget limit of $25 usually. I got a really neat kit to grow my own bonsai trees last year but my "black thumb" prevented all but one of four from germinating. Here's a reproduction of the invitation I received:

  29. I love these old photos. I have so many because I use them in history articles I write. That's why I started as a member here. I wanted to learn about enhancing these images, but I really enjoy working with other types of layouts as well. PSP is fun, and this group is super-supportive.

I am using the Standard tool bar. I am using Layers, Materials, and Tool Options.I have tabbed window which I find very helpful.I have made my icon and font size larger. 36. I found 3 of these wasps in the stable this morning. So I decided to see what I could find in the leaf litter out amongst the trees. Low and behold, by gently disturbing the leaves I discovered 9 more of these wasps. Gorgeous insects. These are paper wasps a subfamily of the Vespid family. You will often find their combs suspended beneath the eves of houses and other building. They are extremely efficient predators. I do handle them, and they have never tried to harm me I created a mask for the photo, used another one of Carole's frame punches. Negative tutorial, for the heading. ( I didn't need to refer to the tutorial, as I use it fairly often as I like the effect) Simple notepaper for the text. One of Carole's latest punches under the word notes.

  39. The days of crouching and crawling around on the ground is coming to a close for this year. It does pay off though, along with a lot of patience, it can be very rewarding. Everything is my own work. Pin, paperclips, sequin, polaroid images. Carole's corner punch, and lifted corner script. The background paper is from from another photo I took on the same day, lightened.

  40. Cross-posting this from the 1-2-3 Challenge which asked for 1 sequin, 2 Polaroid and 3 paperclips. My details are on the 1-2-3 Challenge page and also on Facebook. Introducing my great grandson Jonah James born June 20th.

  41. Ah, this worked out nicely for one of the new great grands this year. I didn't really do a layout for Jonah, Logan's little brother, born June 20th. He was GG #4 and we're also welcomed Raja as GG #5 when I did the Sketch Challenge. I found neat sequin photo corners from Elif Sahin at Pixelscrappers. The clips from my stash labeled LF-Choose-to-Shine were originally copper but I changed them. The Polaroid frames are all part of a vintage collage. The fonts are Bungee Inline, Cabin Sketch and Brush Script. The background paper is from a Marisa Lerin Kit called "Touch of Delight." The photos all came from the Paolucci family. Ilana is my youngest granddaughter, with my Laurey as her mother.

  42. The picture is the front of our house. I tried Carole's tutorial on creating a spooky look. It's hard to see, but there is a ghost in the window. I experimented with having him on the porch, but that got tooooo spooky. The clipart and font (Butcherman) are from Creative Fabrica.

  43. Hi everyone .Following a lot of e mails back and forth, thank you so much Carole, I think I might be finding my way around, but there again if this is in the wrong place I clearly have not ! The photograph is of my Retriever, Oona, sadly now at Rainbows Bridge but her antics still bring a smile to my face. I have never done a workshop before or indeed been on a forum so this is a big learning curve !

  46. Between all the scripting lessons with the super script-along plus all the normal weekend activities and a husband who got ill, I have managed to make something for the 1-2-3 challenge. Luckily I had most of the requirements already done another time. I only had to adapt the colors to the colors from my photos and Sue I nicked your idea of a big cornerpunch. The last nice ones are on my wish list. I had to renew my subscription for the campus and buy the scripting course and that's enough for now. The background is from the photos with a very big blur. Last week we needed something from the gardencenter and there I noticed these little butterflies that were still active. It was a bit difficult to get decent photos of them, they were only for a short moment on a flower and then moved to the next. And of course they were sitting still in places that I could reach. Therefore I have no photos of them with their wings spread out. The fonts are Michalina and Arial.
