  2. Wanting to feel like I'm making some progress, I'll post my page 3, just finished. I'm always hesitant with embellishments, preferring to showcase the photos themselves. Here daughter, Laurey, and granddaughter, Jackie, find the young rhino hilarious at the Toronto Zoo! Font is Bauhaus. Changed the background gradient.

  3. I have to admit I do not understand templates. When I snag a template, say one from this week, I spend too much time trying to find 4 horizontal photos and 1 vertical one (or whatever configuration) to match the template. Plus those photos might not even be my 1st choice for what I want to scrap! Well let's just say I do not understand templates for this kind of project. Here is my Day 3 page. I'm trying to do my trip in order, but it isn't quite going the way I had hoped. So, I am offered a template and told to make a postage stamp. And I tried. Spent a good long time on it, but alas! I had too many pics. I'm not sure this will stay the way it is. The top pics are really drab compared to the stamps - probably for the bevel. Maybe they need to be stamps, too. and there's a script for that! LOL! I ended up buying Stamps 3 script in the shop, and I am so thankful I did because I would still be putting the pieces together if I hadn't! I'll throw this up here in the forum and see what it looks like. Edited to add - Interesting. The page didn't crop when I saved as a .jpg. So I'll keep it tat way and see how far out my printer will print because I think it gets really close to the edge. Here's the text - it's pretty blurry at 600 Coppes Commons in Nappanee, Indiana, was originally the factory for a leading manufacturer of the famous “Hoosier Cabinet” at the turn of the 20th century. The renovated factory now houses a variety of specialty shops offering locally-made, handcrafted, and freshly-baked items and treats. Get a glimpse into the history of the Coppes Kitchens while visiting the Hoosier Cabinet museum on the 2nd floor and shopping within this rambling brick building full of twists and turns. Watch ice-cream treats freeze before your eyes with liquid nitrogen, browse the aisles of multiple boutiques, a bookstore, a toy store, contemporary clothing, handcrafted artisan pottery and soaps; sample 50 flavors of gourmet popcorn, hot soft pretzels, buy fresh baked old-fashioned goods, local cheeses & meats, hot BBQ lunches, bath & beauty products, teas & coffees, bulk foods, home and gift items.

  4. Day 3: During the time my grandson was in Southeast Asia, he played rugby with the Bangkok University rugby team and with a team of his friends who played a tournament in Laos and Vietnam. The pictures are some of the ones that he texted me. I used some elements from a Marisa Lering kit featuring sports. The background papers are my own. The rugby ball pattern was made with cass seamless script which I love. I made the passport and the visa stamps. I liked Anne's idea of making it a book. I am way behind since for the last two days I have been dealing with printer problems.

  5. As promised; here are my date stamps and a tag. I haven't done very much and it seems a general feeling for a lot of us. For me it was an unexpected busy week; our son had his birthday and we went over there for the day, it is about a 90 minutes drive with very busy traffic most of the way (I know for Americans/Canadians that is just around the corner). Then there came extra doctor's appointments for my husband and myself, nothing to worry about but it costs a lot of time because we have to go to town for it. Searching for a present for a friend who will be turning 80 shortly and we will celebrate with a lunch in a very posh restaurant in 2 weeks time. That resulted in another trip into town, because we couldn't find what we were looking for locally. Then in the evenings I had videocalls with my daughter and with the grands because that is the only timeframe when there is a time difference of 9 hours. And last but not least I had a spell of dizziness and wasn't able to even come out of bed for most of that day, but I don't complain it will be okay. It only means I'm hopeless behind and I'm doing the scripting course too..... I postponed lesson 4 until next week and concentrate on the Travel layouts first this weekend, at least if all goes according to plan! I have seen very lovely and diverse layouts being posted when I had a look.

  6. A simple minimalistic, earth tone colours page. Word art: I weaved some of the swashes over and under. I had intended to use the split photo technique on both the photos, but decided to use that technique on the overlap of the one photo.

  7. This layout came about b/c I wanted to do some cutout text. I found Lab5-11 and had a go. It was straightforward and I made a made a few of them for future use. I like easy and fun. So then, last night I was watching fireflies (which are actually beetles) flitting across my backyard. They just make my heart sing and lift my spirit every time I see them. Sadly, there aren't as many as even a few years ago, but they are so delightful. Of course, it takes me back to childhood when we chased them through the fading light of dusk. The photos are found online; background has a radial gradient. Pretty basic overall. But I enjoyed doing it. (I gotta wonder if Sue T. has ever captured them on her camera or if she has them out in the west.)

  8. Day 5 Stamp The photo is Fenn. He was supposed to be born on my friend's birthday...you know babies...they are born when they are ready...Fenn entered this world 10 days later.

  9. What difficult colors to mix. But I found one and another that comes rather close to the required ones. I made just some outer bevel shadows from a selection around the attributes to suggest a template.

  11. I have another OPEN BOOK for you. This is page 3 and 4 of the Toronto trip my daughter and granddaughter took last week. This time they visited the zoo (of course, because Jackie is also a zookeeper. Can we call it a "busman's holiday?") I already posted page 3 earlier but now I changed it.

  12. Day 6 Postcard I didn't want a white background for my postcard so I used a photo and reduced the opacity.

  13. I do the same thing, Rene...sometimes it doesn't resemble the original when I have completed my project...but templates are a starting point. My mojo is dead...creating is not happening. I have completed each day but with the element only...no scrap pages. Day 2 I used Google maps; took a screenshot; cut out Virginia and highlighted our route.

  14. @Gerry Landreth I will have to go find a way to play that game now. You are getting me hooked. I might need to make a page about how my three kids used to play that game TOGETHER! @Suzy At least, you have two options now and who knows? You might be able to use both. @Anja Pelzer nice variety of tags, using different techniques too. Looking forward to see which one you will use in your project. @Jnet Allard Even if you took this workshop before, that would have been 2 years ago. We don't remember that far back! @fiona cook That is often what happens: with new tutorials, and more time, participants will review past pages and update them. @Michele Those preset shapes can be used in so many different ways, right? @Corrie Kinkel That page has such interesting use of the colors repeating from the tag to the datestamp, to the title. @Anita Wyatt Be careful with the images as they look squished. It is most obvious in the barrels which should be more round than they show. @Ann SeeberThat open book gives such a nice overall look. @Mary Solaas How long was that trip??? @Donna Sillia Oh, another open book. It feels like that book is right in front of me.

  15. I definitely am late in getting out of the "start gate"! I know this isn't a race, but it has felt like that for me. I am really not sure, but I have the trip that Joe, Laurie and I took back in 2021 in the RV to visit family in the north and west of us. It was a great trip, I found that I can't take the heights and I am definitely a mountain girl more so than the beach. Oh, Well! I take it easy and am able to do some things. This album will be longer than usual since we had so many places we were going and I am definitely going to do more journaling. I usually journal whenever I take a trip. It does help when designing the album. All the elements and papers are mine. The 2 elements at the lower left corner and the upper right corner came from Marisa Lerrin at Pixel Scrapper. The font is Britannic Bold.

  16. A drizzly day today, after sorting through some photos, I decided to showcase some of them. I'll do the same with the Robins and Wrens. The birds will become mature adults, when they grow their breeding plumage next year. The juvenile is just starting the moult, they always start with the head feathers. This year I had 3 pairs of Orioles, that raised 5 young ones. As you know I feed home made blueberry jam, and put out other berries which are going off. Created the labels, for the one I used a font swirl, which looked rather wispy, like the feathers on the fledgling. Carole's tatting tubes. Decorated the frames with heart fonts, and inner beveled them. The background paper is a photo I took of leaves on a tree. The mottled look I used was a technique that Carole used in one of the Christmas masterclasses, and then again in the border mania masterclass. I like to use the stencil technique in the creative scrap, which creates a similar technique

  17. Here is Travel Tale 3. The Hat really enjoyed meeting the knights that handle security at the fortress and also the good looking models (mannequins) at the store. I think it is time I shall give the hat a name. How does Mr. Red sound? Font is Anberta, Date stamp was made by following Carole's tutorial (I need more practice on that). Photos are mine, Background colors were picked from photos. I do not have the Dozi's grunge brushes and her website does not have them listed. I used the marble 2 brush as someone here recommended, than you! Sty tuned for more Travel adventures from Mr. Red.(a.k.a. Mr. Hat).

  20. I just started a trip my cousin's daughter took with her family last Thanksgiving to Iceland. She posts the photos on Facebook and I download to use in layouts. It appears most of them are going to be portrait instead of landscape (think she used her phone) so will have to look for templates that have more portrait spots than landscape. But most of my templates have landscape spots! Just last night I used a template with landscape spots and rotated it to make them portrait. There were 2 smaller spots that were more square and I did have 2 photos that worked in those spots. I've gotten to the point that I use templates as a starting point and by the end, they quite often they don't even look like the template!

  21. That I am, I'm up and out at sunrise every morning, regardless what time sunrise is. It's the best part of the day. Come 10pm, my bed is calling, only to get up again during the early hours to view the night sky.

  22. Would this layout count? I will do another one, more in keeping with your specs, using numbered labels.

  23. For this page used half fold greeting card 2550x1650pixels. No, the pictures are as they came off the camera. When insects are in a state of torpor, I'm able to carefully and quietly clean the area around, removing anything that will create a shadow, or obstruct the view. Without disturbing the subject. Macro photography creates a lovely natural depth of field. For the background paper I used the blinds texture.

  24. I too will have to pass it by. I had good intentions but life has it's own design. At least we have all the prompts and can work in our own time. I actually thought we were only making one page and building on it each day with a final reveal at the end. Oops, that's shows that I am even more out of touch with what was really going on. ?

  25. I'm not doing the workshop but I will offer this suggestion... Rotate the template to fit your photos! A template is just a starting point and does not have to be used exactly as is. Loving all the layouts from everyone so far!

  27. I took my first two layouts and used the open book script. I didn't have that option the last times I took this class. I think it looks good. It is posted at 1200 px wide for this forum.

  28. I have made another layout for day 3 and 4, but I incorporate the different day-tutorials in my layouts. I simple call them by the subject inside the layouts. So this is the one I made for my one day in San Francisco before we went on the plane to Phoenix. I'm going to use date stamps on all layouts and will try to post them later. I made the papers and used different techniques and textures like blinds, halftone; overlays too. The color palette I used for my first 2 layouts is called mineral tones and the fonts are Impact, Bilderberg and Arial. For the coming layouts I intend to use a different color palette, because the photos have very different colors. For all the text and arrows etc I use the colors of the states I'm in.

  29. These are my Day 3 date stamps. The first one was simply following the tutorial step by step including the "aging." In the second one, I actually used one of Cassel's preset gem shapes and kept it "new."

  30. Days 3 and 4 - Badge and tag in situ for the time being. Will reposition at the end when I finish off the page or may put on a second DPS with lots of photos. The video for the leather tag was handy. Thank you Carole.

  31. My Day 1 started on Monday - I thought I'd managed to get 2 pages done today, but nope. I had a lot of problems but it's done. What's more, I'm sure I've taken this workshop before, and while I was doing it I had my doubts: did I use the same trip???? It's too late to go through the 4 pages already posted. I'll do it tomorrow. And finally I had to reopen my psp - my work wasn't light enough ?

  33. I forget where I am and what day it's supposed to be! Here is the date postmark and leather tag. I did what Ann did and read the directions instead of the video. I didn't really like what I came up with, so I used some "real" leather instead. My only decision I'm not sure of is whether I might prefer a larger white base with rounded corners.

  34. This was a quick easy one, once I found photos that had similar colours to the Palette. The norm for me is firstly choosing photos, and not the other way round. the B7b44e was used in the bottom element, where I used a photo, overlay soft light, luckily it retained most of the colour in the palette. The frames around the photos and the text paper is dce6e7. Decorative frame is 9bc0de. Background papers are 40524b and 618a84. Out of bounds, inner bevel on decorative frame, a little noise on the background papers to give a little texture. The little female in the middle photo, (I think she is a juvenile) is in a state of torpor, all fluffed up. I put their feeders out at 5.45am, as I fetch them indoors at night, as the evenings can get quite chilly, and the last thing they want is chilled feed. I gently picked her up, warmed her in my hands for a couple of minutes, placed her back on the perch, next to the feeder. She was fine, ready to start the day after a long feed of sugar water. I don't scimp on the sugar either. Every year the hummers arrive by the 3rd August, they stay for the whole of August before embarking on their long journey south. The feeders stay out until mid September just in case stragglers pass through. They are truly flying gems, with amazing powers of flight and often glittering iridescent colours. To me when they arrive, I know that Autumn is quite literally around the corner.

  35. @Sherie Dracup Yes, it happened to me today in my 2023 Ultimate. Exact same behavior. I deleted the vector text layer completely and ended up typing in the copy line by line. The issue seemed to be the bounding box which, as you described, suddenly stretched out horizontally. ?
    1 point
  36. Hi, I keep getting more issues. I was adding text to my project as a vector in a selected space. That was fine, however, when I duplicated the layer, (as I was using a font not installed on my system & my intention was to turn the copy into a raster) it removed the line returns and stretched it out in one line. I did one duplication with the selections ants on and one duplication with the selection ants turned off, and both times the returns were removed. I have never had this issue before. As Corel support said to forward any more issues I find, I sent it to them. I also recorded the issue, then did the same in PSP 2021 where there is no issue, but was unable to send the recordings as they are too large. I hope they tell me a way to send the files to them, so they can give it to their tech team to resolve. Has anyone else come across this?

  37. I agree, Rene. In planning my album (and as with all my trips - they are long), I will use only the templates that fit my idea. Or - use them in different ways to fit my thoughts. This was a really long trip and was longer than most. Laurie and I tend to fit as much in a trip as is humanly (or not humanly) possible. For instance, when we were planning a trip (and Joe was working) to Vermont, we looked at each other and decided that we were going to take in Niagra Falls, Brother Andre's church in Montreal, her relatives in New Hampshire, my desire to at least touch Maine, her wanting to get dishes from a factory outlet in West Virginia. Whew - that trip had all of us wiping our brow when we finished. This one had Joe already retired, so a long trip was OK. I believe we were gone about a month.

  38. @Corrie Kinkel Now you know why I do most of my "shopping" on Amazon. ? I'm just a good customer of Amazon that they generally send orders overnight without any extra cost. I must live near one of their hubs. The City of Middletown is only 5 minutes away from here at Eagles Point Condos and we have a horse farm across the road. I do hope your dizzy spell is nothing serious. I get them from time to time, weirdly when I lay down - not when I'm upright. Your date stamps and leather tag look great. I'd suggest a smaller hole for the tag, or just add a rivet (grommet) to fill in. They're in the Tubes in metallic and color. I still haven't finished pages 3 and 4 so I'm not much ahead of you. Life keeps getting in the way!

  39. OMG! Stunning. I love dew drops on anything. I wouldn't have thought it would be on a butterfly. I love the colors of this butterfly. Because I attempted to grow flowers this year I had butterflies in the yard. They sure made me smile. It's amazing how I will stop dead just to watch the butterflies flutter around, and feel like, at that moment in time, how lucky i am to see this.

  40. If you feel like you are late, I think I missed the gate completely. I didnt know when I signed up that my hubby would (several weeks later) book a week off, which I totally forgot about. So I have not been very active with anything PSP-y. We had planned to go to this tourist attraction (Fort Edmonton Park) that has about 5-6 sections covering various period of pre-colonization to the 1920's. It rained for two days; downpours actually. And today I work, so I will have to go to my back up theme to try and pull off. I not opptomistic. You have a good start and what a trip it looks like. I'm looking forward to being an arm-chair traveller following you on your trip

  42. Whew, it was hard to use all those layers. I was tempted to skip a couple of them, but then it would not have been right for this challenge because it says to use all of them. One problem I had was with that many layers going ( I guess I should have reduced the picture file sizes before using them) I wound up with such a large project that my PSP 21 program was taking forever to do anything . Even when I just clicked on (file save as or resize image etc. it was taking so long I though it was frozen. When I was about to give up on saving it as jpg so I could post it, I finally just left the program run while I did some chores and when I came back later I was able to save it. Yes, Penny is my nickname and Tom is my hubby of 54 years.

  47. Back to my gaming group now. I've had the illustration for years so I don't remember where it came from; I used a mask to frame it. In order to balance it out, one of Cassel's corner punches came in handy. The font is 11S01 Black Tuesday Offset; I got it free from somewhere about ten years ago. I didn't have a system for saving information about the fonts, etc. back then. I'm doing a better job now. lol
