  1. I bought Affinity photo the other day, installed it. It immediately did an update, now I have version 2.6.2. I have started to familiarize myself with it. I started with the Start here with Affinity tutorials. Here is one of my pages. I will use predominantly Affinity for this workshop, along with PSP.

  2. @Jannette Nieuwboer Yeah - at first glance it looks like an upright piano.

  5. A new workshop will soon start. Are you in? It will start on April 21st, 2025. This workshop is FREE for everyone, so spread the word. This workshop is meant for beginners and advanced users alike. Beginners will find a simple way to get started to create their scrapbook projects. Advanced users will find that templates can spark your inspiration and help you complete projects on a deadline. Did you find this thread before the registration page? Here it is. This workshop will include tutorials for PaintShop Pro and Affinity Photo. You can follow along with the program of your choice. Supplies will be provided for both programs.

  7. my mother was a switchboard operator in our small town telephone office. Ik dacht eerst dat men gezellig rond de piano zat, πŸ˜‚ maar toen ik de foto wat vergrootte zag ik de oude telefooncentrales. 🎧

  8. Me, too. My family and I lived in Rutherford, New Jersey, and our phone number was Rutherford2-2032J. (The J indicated it was a party line.)

  9. Wow, this is so cool. I remember party lines, we had one in the early 70's still. I remember how bad my one brother and I were. If we picked up the phone and other people were talking on it, we'd be snickering and they would be telling us to get off the line. And we'd laugh. We got caught and boy, did we ever get in trouble. We never did it again. I find the concept of a party line so bizarre. Talk about no privacy. I really like the background of your layout, it has the feel of that time period. I agree, looking to the past in turbulent times is comforting.

  10. Julie, this is a lovely layout! The small details complement the stars of the page, which for me are always the photos.

  11. Not too bad. I have a plastic unit with many small drawers to hold parts. I will admit that all the drawers are full!

  14. I am in too and will use Affinity but when this workshop is taking place I'm in California with my family and I don't take my laptop with me. However I take my iPad and will be able to see the lessons and will do them when I'm back home and have overcome the jetlag. I know that as a Diamond member I can always see those lessons on a later moment but I'm just curious to follow the new lessons for Affinity and this way will motivate me to really catch up when I'm back. Of course I will have a peek here to look what you all are making and cheer you on if necessary!

  20. As suggested by Rene and Corrie, I am sharing some tips on Affinity after watching some YouTube videos. Those were first posted in the "February What are you doing" thread. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yesterday, I was working with Affinity. I like so many things about Affinity, one of which is the ability to centralize an image using the Green and Red Lines. I learned two techniques with Text (Text Warp and Text on a Circle) from two different channels that popped up on YouTube. I watch many videos that have nothing to do with Scrapbooking, PSP, PSE, or Affinity, and I never searched for anything of the kind on YouTube. Still, the algorithm knows and keeps suggesting those videos and that it's good. πŸ™‚ Text Warp: I very much like the effect. It was not in the video, but I added some bevel and shadow. I would have liked to have the Bevel and Shadow shown more in the P and R characters, but I don’t know (yet) how to do it. So, first, the original pepper image and then the warped text.

  21. Oh, thank you, Rene! I didn't know that there was already one. I'll look for this "Let's Talk" thread. πŸ™‚

  22. There is a specific forum for Affinity stuff. It is a sub-forum of the "Let's Talk" forum. I asked that it be created just like the PSP sub-forum in that main forum. That's where Corrie and I have posted our tips.

  23. Another thing I've learned, and I didn't post it before, is that after you type the text and go to the end of it, while it is still blinking if you want to type inside it, click ENTER, and you can type at the bottom.
