My oldest daughter lives in North Carolina with her family (4 boys) while both my sons (each with one girl) and youngest daughter (with 3 sons) live in Georgia, as do my husband and me. So, it is difficult for all cousins to get together. The first weekend in October, my husband and I loaded 4 of the Georgia cousins (all but our 2 yr old granddaughter) in our car and drove to N.C.; one reason to all watch our youngest grandson perform in Children's Community Theatre and the second, just to let cousins spend time together. Every time they all get together its as if they had just been together the day before. They are all great friends. We took the opportunity to get a photo with the 8-out-of-9 grandkids. And I am sorry, I cannot give you the information on where I got the different elements: I typed the list onto a separate word document to save--and then I mistakenly deleted it. I will do better next time.8 points

Hello, this time I had some difficulties with the levels. There layers reported as "converted selection" and the Originalraster remained. I deleted them at the end because the layer list was getting longer and longer. There were no changes on the scrap. I also had a problem coloring the tag behind the title. I wanted white, but then the pattern "Glitter" came from the photo frame. After some time I got the white somehow, but it looks like a grid. How can I make a written tag more transparent so that the background shows through a bit? I took the Mother's Day kit from TDH from May 2023-BT and the Swirl is from marutis.ch. The scrap kit is K.G. Chocklat. The font's name is Candyday BW and the name's font is Bell M.T. I loved this photo frame so much that I switched over. If you don't agree then I will change to the tutorial. It's not that I can't the "snap to guide.' It's a matter of preference. But I sent this one to my bodyguards. like I call them.6 points

Just finished Day 7. I am still highlighting our Scandinavian trip because it was so special to us. I have always wanted to go to Denmark and Norway because my grandmother was from Denmark and my Grandfather was from Norway. As I was born in Australia, it was definitely on my "bucket list" to visit these countries. This certainly exceeded my expectations. Thanks to Cassel for all your tips on each of the projects I have delivered so far. This is so appreciated as it helps me to learn.6 points

Good morning, Everyone 🙂 This is Lesson 7. I did use a glitter I had to flood fill the rectangle selection. It's not so glittery. lol I used to use the guides and snap to guide all the time. And I kept trying to pull a guide down from the top of my canvas, but it never worked. Thanks for telling me about the ruler! I forgot all about that. Now I have them all checked and will use them always. The name up at the top was an alpha set and the guide came in very handy to position the letters. I had trouble with my cropping tool which made the resizing of the photographs difficult. The little tool bar on the bottom of it kept disappearing so at first I could not finish the crop. I found I could double-click inside of it and it cropped the image. But then the handle was gone too and I couldn't move the image. I would have to close PSP and reload it again. I find the 2023 version a little clunky to use, but i'll manage as best I can. I have nothing but time. 🙂 I really enjoyed this lesson, I learned a lot. 🙂5 points

I recently watched a PBS program call "World on Fire" which was about WWII and decided to try to replicate an image that I made several years ago. No matter what I tried, I couldn't remember what I had done, so I made a new one using Balls and Bubbles effect. The earth is from CF Spark. I tried to use it as a Bump map which didn't work and ended up using it for the surface.4 points

Day 5, layout 2 A fun filled day with friends. We drove to Front Royal, VA which is to the west and offered a little more Fall color that we have at home. We shopped a flea market, had lunch and ice cream, shopped a thrift store and visited a local park. The park offered some color and photo opportunities. Title font is Script MT Bold. Journaling font is You All Everybody. Squirrel Stamp by DigiDewi, Kit: Autumn Day on Digital Scrapbooking. Leaf in the title block is by Brooke Gazarek in the kit Crisp Fall Air, 19815. Melanie, I love the Indigo Bunting. We rarely see them here in Virginia. Doska, my neighbors have a bald eagle nest on their property. Once, I got to go there and watch. I had always wanted to see an eagle in flight...and I did! Here a younger buck wanted to challange an older, larger, more experience buck. The big guy wanted nothing to do with this little one but finally had to stand his ground. It was no contest. The little one was pushed all around. They never fought for real but it was obvious which one would be victorious. Project 3 We love the ruby throated hummingbird, which is the only one we see here in Georgia. We put up feeders all around the house, and in with some of our flowers. They become adjusted to us, and will hover near us "checking us out." They're very curious birds. They also have incredible memories and will remember what flowers and feeders they've been to in previous years, and return again the following years. Oh wow, that is so kind of you to open up your home to us. It's been years since I heard an owl. And never have I heard a Gret Horned Owl. It's official, we were just finishing up with outside and me preening about making sure the birds have perches near the new winter dust bathing area and just some perches (dead branches) in the garden area because it doesnt get as much snow up against the wall. There are a number of birds (and squirrels) that cling to the 60's glass/rock walls that were so popular back then (I find them rather lethal and unforgiving when you scrape yourself on them). So I added some natural perches too. Must be bugs on the wall as they are often picking at stuff and the flicker does that to the house walls, sounds like it's pile-driving his beak through the walls. And it just started to snow as I got my herbs put inside the garage. Winter is fast upon us. Your kind of noise is nice though. I love to hear you talk about farm life, it's really interesting.3 points

Not really, as the majority of the song birds fly south. When it does go silent when they are here, it means that a predator is at large. The nights are always noisy, between the Great Horned Owls, coyotes howling, and foxes barking, they make their presence known. Their sounds travel well in the night air. Susan you are only an hour and half flight away from me. Or a 6hr drive. You and anyone else will be made most welcome at anytime.3 points

BOOTCAMP 7-SANCTUARY -The title font is Belisha treated to a Chisel effect. The text font is Franklin Gothic Semi. The background is a photo of a local field treated with the Luminance layer effect. The bird is from "cpjess-tomorrow" kit and the top and bottom elements are from "ID-Face in the Photograph" kit. A bit of explanation about the center photo: It was taken by my security camera which is mounted on a pole at the corner of the porch. You can see the pole's shadow on the left of the photo. Those stray cats are very skittish and hard to photograph.3 points

Ann, what a beautiful thing you are doing. Such a shame these cats have to end up in a life like that. thank goodness there is sanctuaries for them. Probably not enough though.2 points

Michele, your words paint a beautiful image. It's sounds like a wonderful place to live. When I lived on the Westcoast (British Columbia) I lived on thoroughbred breeding farm and we were on zero avenue....that was a gravel road that separated US from CANADA. There is even a marker ( 3 foot high obilisk) that says USA on one side and CANADA on the other side. it's in the shallow ditch between the two roads that you can literally straddle (which i did) with your legs. One of my legs was illegally in the USA for the time it took to take the picture (less than 30 seconds).2 points

@Sue Thomas and @Susan Ewart I'm lucky right now to live in a small town on Long Island just outside of NYC. It's pretty quiet around here other than the alarm from the fire station around the block (all volunteers out here so when they need the firefighters, the alarm is loud). I love listening to the birds in the morning, especially in the spring when the babies are chirping for breakfast. Even when a train from the LIRR (Long Island Rail Road) passes by, I only hear the whistle which makes me feel like I'm out in the country. Nothing I can do about the light pollution, though. When I lived upstate, we could easily drive over to Lake Ontario and the sky was beautiful. On a clear day, we could see Canada. I even saw the northern lights one night.2 points

You must have crows in the city! They are the best. Corvids are so much fun to watch. If you want an appreciation for your neighbourhood city crows just sign up for June Hunters Urban Nature Enthusiast blog. June lives in Vancouver, BC (Canada), right in the city and she will show you an appreciation for city nature that you didnt know what unfolding in front of you. I do know what you mean about the night sky. I live in this city for 3 years about 40+ years ago. And we could see the northern lights and tons of stars. Now I see only the very brightest few stars and would need to go pretty far out of the city to get a starry night sky. Sue is very lucky to have crisp beautiful skies as they are meant to be. I loved living on the farms (horses) that I did live on, even if it was close to the city. Where I live it's noisy, I hear the traffic 24/7. Winter is the worst as the city does it's snow clearning all night long. This is a small city and i hear snowplows scraping the roads and back up beeps. Not conducive to a good nights sleep. I'll join you and Sue in a quiet life of the farm.....or we just go visit Sue for a week or 2 or forever. 😋 How good are you at pitching a tent? I suck at it.2 points

Dont you find it erie (sp?) when you dont hear the birds singing. When it's dead silent. It's neat but kind of apocalyptic feeling. During Covid when we had lock downs, my job continued and I'd drive to work and there would be no other cars at all some days and some of those days the birds too, were silent and it felt like some kind of post-apocalyptic world. I work at a noisy place so I do love when the world is silent....except nature, I like to hear leaves rustling, raindrops landing on a tin roof, birds etc. Yesterday some geese flew over...I heard them honking and went outside to see. As they past over my house they stopped honking and I could hear their wings, magical.. I miss that so much. My house in Chilliwack, BC was right on the flight path to the park the geese came to every day (a 10 min walk from the house).2 points

I take it and the NEXT WORD is: ORANGE Halloween isn't for me but pumpkins are. Almost every autumn I make a display on a small table in my patio with pumpkins, dry leaves, chestnut etc. Here I used a fall background from my stash with 3 different overlays and different blendmodes; one with autumn leaves a freebie from Corel, one with more leaves from InkyDeals and a frame. A mask from digitalscrapbook on my photo with a small frame and the font is Michalina. Some pumpkins at the bottom, after all the word is pumpkin!2 points

Ladies you make me so envious; to have all that nature at your doorstep. I live in the Netherlands and we are a small country where it is impossible to find a spot without light pollution. Noise is another issue because we have roads and railways almost everywhere and our nature is more like a big park. Of course it isn't all bad and I can hear the little birds sing early in a spring morning. And the sparrows have their evening coming together for spending the night in the trees. I was born and spend my youth in Rotterdam, a big city. Nowadays I live in a nice enough village with the possibility to go for a walk outside in a bit more rural setting of farmland and a small woodland park. But it isn't advisable to go there on your own as soon as it is getting dark or in the twilight. I have been to visit my family in the States 3 times now and while there we did a couple of short roadtrips that at least have given me a glimpse of the vastness, when you are riding for hours without seeing very few cars, only grassland and some farmbuildings in the distance. Hopefully next year I can go there again and if I come somewhere near one of you it would be great to meet in person. At the moment I don't have concrete plans, it depends on my daughter when it will be a good moment to come over and my home situation must allow it too. In the meantime I enjoy all the stories, the photos and layouts that are posted here.1 point

I can tell when a hawk has entered the airspace near my backyard. The birds go silent while they're feeding and then burst out in flight, all at once. Sure enough, I look out and there's that predator sitting nearby. He's pretty amazing to see, but I'd run too if I were a wee bird.1 point

Beautiful job on the layout, Carolyn. I wish I could travel with you to Scandinavia. On my own bucket list because my maternal grandparents emigrated to New York, she from Sweden and he, from Finland. My grandfather's last name was Hagquist but the officials on Ellis Island changed it to Higgins!? I think that happened more often than we know. Ironically, they got jobs at the famed Tuxedo Park enclave upstate a bit, and I can imagine the directive, "Higgins, bring the Rolls around." 😉1 point

Although the bright lights of the city skyline is a beautiful sight. It does hide the beauty of the sky. Unfortunately, noise and light pollution goes hand in hand with city living. Without any exaggeration, I listen in awe to the silence, especially on days when there isn't a breath of wind or a bird sing. Do you have any parks close by, which enables you to escape the city to get back to nature?1 point

Hi Carole and Members, Thank you Carole for bringing this up. When I started scrapbooking in 2005 it was posted in my favorite forum because... required by the strict German copyright rules. At that time there were a lot of thefts from Scraps, which were then passed off as their own in other forums. And if you have your own watermark and main credits on it, then a lot more cover-up work has to be done, which then becomes noticeable on patterned backgrounds. that was frightening. I do it out of habit and precisely because I also want to show my work in German-speaking countries, for example on Pinterest. And as you have already noticed, it is often helpful years later to look for the source of the kit. It is also advantageous if someone likes the kit and wants to look for it, then they don't have to ask. My favorite font for these credits on the scrap is Eurostile because it remains easy to read at size 14 and takes up little space on the edges of the scrap.1 point

Scrap boot Camp. Day 5. Project 2 Hi everyone .I think I have posted this in a couple of places as I got a bit confused, and just when I thought I was navigating the site quite well!! .I think I am in the correct place now. My apologies. The raindrop papers were from my subscription to Creative Fabrica and the graphics were a purchase from the web site Nitwits. The very dirty pup Jodi was having a great adventure in the rain at our holiday caravan. I have struggled to get to grips with layers but since doing the sandwich project it has fallen into place so easily. Thank you so much Carole. I am so enjoying this workshop.1 point

I haven't got a clue what it is like to live in a city, or any built up area. All I know is that I couldn't live in any urban area. I regard myself as being very lucky, that I was born into farming, married a farmer, and finally ended up here on a prairie farm. Both my children were born into farming, and still live in rural areas. My granddaughters were born into farming too. It's a wonderful lifestyle. It doesn't suit everyone though, thankfully we are all different.1 point

I took the word ORANGE from Corrie. Here is my page. Using the word Orange in the title. I created a ghost text, turning it into a sort of sticker for the title. Added flames to 2 of the frames, extended the branch out and over the frame. Used a photo for the background, which consisted of branches and blue sky, blurred. As I mentioned blue skies in the text. Susan prompted me to mention our blue skies, that go on for ever. I believe I am correct in posting my page, in the original acceptance message of the word Orange. By selecting edit. Which is what I have done.1 point
