I did/do the same as you Corrie. When I joined it was before the Lab. I started at the beginning, doing the tutorials that was then the creative scrap. Storing the patterns, elements, text etc in a folder for future use to be used when I showcase photos. Some elements I have never used, but I created them, and perhaps one day I will have a use for them. The beauty of creative scrap and lab, is that we learn how to uitilze techniques in different ways, and to think outside the box.6 points

OK, so I started with an idea (a bit of a scraplift). When I wasn't satisfied with what I was getting, i switched to something more traditional and used the white, blue, green that are colours associated with the group who sponsor the plaque project. I need something clean and quite simple to create other pages for the "scrapbook" I will be doing. But man, this is gonna take me some time if this first layout is any indication. BTW, I'm not fond of the word "plaque"; it resembles too closely "plague". Some elements I made, some came from a freebie from Annie C Digitals and some from Kate Hadfield Designs. The lady in yellow is 90 years old and enjoyed seeing her family name on the plaque. I know I need the Shadows Workshop.5 points

This is for all my fellow font-a-holics. Fill in your name, frame the certificate, and proudly hang it above your computer. Sorry it took so long, but I decided to start with a blank page. Several days, many errors, a bunch of restarts later et voilà ! If you want the full-size jpg or pspimage, just let me know. 🙂 Hope you don't mind that I borrowed your logo, @Cassel. Some of you might recognize Cassel's Lace Edge 6 font on the outer layer of the frame; it can be used for more than just lace.5 points

I've always said, "I need a 48 hour day". I wish I had more PSP time. How rude that my job interferes with that!5 points

Michele, I love it! Thanks for accepting me into this exclusive group. I am now officially a member, and I'll make every effort not to disappoint you or any of my colleagues. 😄 It's an honor to have you as our president!4 points

I agree with Susan. That mask is great! And the fact you have your own kit to work from.4 points

That's me Cristina! You said it perfectly. What I end up with in no way resembles what was in my head or what I even started with!4 points

Your comments, Michele, Corrie, and Susan, reminded me that I still have zillions of masterclasses to practice! 😬 In 2017, there were many "Challenges" to create something with the techniques shown in the masterclass. I think that now is part of the Tut-Tech challenge. My day definitely has to be more than 24 hours. 🤔4 points
-
There is almost as many masterclasses as there are Labs. At this rate I think it will take me another 2-3 yrs to do the labs and then I'll start the master classes....that'll be another 3-4 yrs. I need to retire so I have more time.4 points
-
Anja you do a great job with the Labs! I'm constantly thinking I should do them too, but somehow I don't have the time or the gusto to start with them. Instead I do a lot of the tutorials and store the results for when I need some. That works for me because I most of the time have a ribbon, overlay, pattern etc when I need it for a layout. I'm still working my way through the masterclasses as well.4 points

Oh, too funny Michele! And such a lovely certificate. Looks authentic to me!3 points

Mary, this layout is beautiful! I love the colors and how you used the busy patterned paper with the top one, which looks like it has a canvas texture or something similar. The mask you made for the photo made it pop even more. I am sure I'll use this in the future. 🙂 You are making good use of the Desert kit you created.3 points

What a cool layout and what a cool place to visit. I LOVE the mask. What a great idea.3 points

Week 28 Scripts used (apart from Counting Cards1-Weeks) Custom Playing Card Lifted Photo I used the tutorial called: Button the back ground is made from a Kaleidoscope tile. After flood filling a layer I duplicated it and chose Multiply to get it darker. then I added a texture (texture effects>texture>squares). The kaleidoscope is subdued and probably wont show up here. I inner bevel and shadowed the outer frame and each text vector all separately.3 points

Mary, your layouts are very beautiful! Your persistence with the Labs is really paying off.3 points

Lab 13 Mod 2. Double arrow - I made papers and ribbons; Cutout shape - I made several but did not save them as "shapes" or "brushes", just png's (several of them all with different corners cut out) - used a copy to make the label. The rest of the papers and elements are from my desert kit including the title. The picture was taken by Joe and Laurie on that western trip they took in 2023. I used that mask I made some time ago playing with several frames in different opacities.3 points

This was a challenge with 2 faces for me. The easy part was the streamer which I already had done some time ago and the metallic words for which I used a gold metal that I had in my patterns from other projects. Those ..... knots gave me a lot of trouble!!! The drawing of the path with the pentool went ok now I knew that the tracking had to be much higher! But cutting the path and making the different parts of that path on their own layers didn't went so well. Sometimes I was deleting on the wrong layer and had to do it again. I started 3 times anew and was almost ready to cheat with a rope with knots that I had in my stash! On my photo I used a mask that came from a template by Lady22 and the bouquet from my stash went in between the streamer. I see now that I probably should have attached my rope with a pin or a staple, but for now I assume I glued it on the wooden background!🙃 Carole I have a question on how to shadow that ..... knotted rope and I'll put it in the Q&A for Sunday if there is time enough that is.2 points

This is beautiful. Yes, it takes some time to do the project well. It actually took me 2 years to finish my Alphabet Soup album. So just stick with it. You have lovely ideas that come through in your layouts.2 points

The layout is simple and lovely, Julie. I love the details you added, such as the tags with the staples and the squares overlay behind the photo. Now that you've decided on the color and type of layout, it will be less difficult to create the others. 🙂2 points

Beautiful as usual.. Like a lot of others have said, I suspect I have the same addiction. However going to rehab would not do a lot of good sense I really don't want to kick this addiction.2 points

Your trip maybe didn't go as planned but it turned out to be a great adventure! For sure psp-2023 is giving us all a headache!2 points

I'm working on installing all the zips of PSP supplies I've downloaded which is taking a while. I also want to catch up on Master Classes I've missed of which there are many. One of the moderators in my Fab Divas group took over doing the daily pics when I was sick and she's having such a fun time doing them. As long as she's still enjoying herself, I can devote my time to PSP. This is a mutually satisfying arrangement for both of us. 🙂2 points

Susan, I go through the same "yuk" moments. After I finish one layout, it takes time to start a new one. The photo is the starting point; it has to connect with me and spark creativity. Sometimes, it is right there, but other times, there's a blank, and it takes me a long time to decide on something,.. Which usually ends up being totally different from when I began. 😄2 points

They refer to it as "plaquing". I try to use unveiling, but I don't even like that much. There doesn't seem to be a catchier or more pleasant sounding way to describe it. As you say, the word has the yucky meaning of stuff stuck on our teeth which the hygienist has to scrape off. 😬1 point

Honestly, Carole you should consider 2 screens. Once you try it, you'll wonder how you ever managed without! When I worked, I did a lot of spreadsheet work along with the accounting program. I was always having to minimize/maximize windows on a 19" screen. Once I got the 2nd screen (both 19"), my workflow became much faster. One of my tasks I actually worked with 3 different spreadsheets at the same time. I could have one on 3/4 of the left screen (left side of screen), another on 3/4 of the right screen (right side of screen) and the 3rd in the 1/4 of each screen across the middle. I have a cousin that when she worked for Marathon Oil, she had 4 screens... 2 on the bottom and 2 on top of them. She said once that the majority of the employees in headquarters had a least 3 screens and there were a few that had 6! Cheryl, the gal that does the scrapping videos has dual screens and she could check out the chat in go-to-meeting on the 2nd screen if she wanted. I've had 1 screens for so long that I know I would not be able to function if I had only 1!1 point
-
I never thought of a popup chat. Since I don't use two screens, it never occurred to me. I will definitely forward that suggestion. You are surely not the only one using two screens!1 point
-
What I really liked about go-to-meeting was the chat could be a pop out window. With my 2 screens, I would put the chat on one screen which left the other screen for only the working space of the designer on full screen. Even though she used photoshop, I could see enough to figure out how to do the same thing in PSP. She has left that store and gone to another one so she is now using YouTube live for her sessions. You can go full screen on it but you lose all chat abilities when you do. She's only had one session on YouTube so it was a learning experience for her along with the attendees. One thing about YouTube is that only moderators of the channel can post links in the chat. The person that always monitored her chat and posted links wasn't able to do it since she hadn't been given mod privileges. Which is actually a good thing since it keeps the spam out of the live chat. With YouTube, a live chat can be scheduled and the attendees can jump in anytime they want, even hours before. Then when the presenter actually starts the session, the video starts. One person I follow has a session scheduled for tonight... it shows 1 person already waiting for it.1 point

Is the day called "Heritage Plaque Day". I know what you mean by Plaque...but I think of teeth and the dentist and that weird candy looking drop we got as kids that colored our teeth to show us where the plaque was. could you call it, "Unveiling our Heritage"? ... or something to that effect.1 point

AWESOME! It's better than I could have imagined! Great job and a big THANK YOU for all your work and your continued collecting of the Whole-y Font (PS...it's a religion, but I spelled it different so as to not step on any other religious toes) (PS2 'Whole-y' as in ALL the fonts in the world).1 point

No need to re-register. Hopefully, you will get the emails when they start. Otherwise, yes, it will be in the DIAMOND section afterward.1 point

I do agree. It is the shadow that came with the lifted photo when I ran the script. I wouldn't attempt to do a shadow like this, maybe after the upcoming workshop. I wonder if something happened to it when I grouped it with the card and copy and pasted it into the layout. I will have to take a look at the orginal lifted photo layers. Thank you for the compliments on the T-cups. I had been collecting them for over 25 yrs, because they were so pretty. little pieces of art that I could afford. Now I'm trying to pick only my most favorite ones to keep. It's very hard to do. I managed to get down to about 30, but would like to get down to 12.1 point

I had always thought I would like to see Alaska and I am glad we did this. I think the cruise part would have been better if we were the the kind of couple that liked the entertainment they had available, but is just isn't something we enjoy doing. When we mentioned at breakfast on our Anniversary that is was our 50th. There were several other couples that said that is what they were celebrating too.1 point

The adventure I have captured here was our 50th anniversary vacation. It was an adventure from the first to the last day. The train ride to Dneali was fun, It rained the whole time we were up there though. We did get to see some wildlife but of course the mountain was hiding in the clouds. We did have a nice room and the food was good. We then took a bus down to get to our ship. This was our first cruse so that was fun. Good food and drinks and some beautiful sunrises and sunsets. At a couple of the stops we did do one of the tours. The pic in the center is from one of those, it was actually on our Anniversary. The last adventure though was the plain we were supposed to fly home in was canceled because of a bird broke the front window. What a mess that was trying to get all those people on to other flights. We wound up having to stay in a hotel another night and fly home the next day. Instead of having nice seats we were stuck in some really small ones and would not have even been sitting together if it wasn't for a really nice Airline employee doing some magic and getting us seated together. Creating this has been fun too (not) because of issues when I tried doing it with 2023. When I had it almost all finished, every time I tried to do something it would close. I finally opened both 23 and 21 and one by one copied and pasted every thin for 23 to 21 so I could finish it.1 point

Many years ago we went mudflat walking with the company where my husband worked. Every year there was some sort of activity, like visiting something work-related but that year (2005) we had a whole weekend in the north of the Netherlands. Part of it was a tour with a guide on the mudflats or "Wadden". It is a popular activity because it is a real adventure. The guide had a long pole with him to measure the depth of the ditches we had to cross and had to get everybody of the group back before it became high tide. The tour started with a speech about the mudflats and a warning to stay together and do as he said to keep it safe. At first the going was fairly easy, we walked on a sandbank but later it became rather difficult. The soil became muddier and especially the ditches we tough. We helped each other because it was difficult to keep your balance and we got muddier and muddier and the water started to rise again so the ditches became deeper. I will never forget this adventure, but it is once and never again.1 point
