Susan Ewart Posted February 21 Posted February 21 (edited) Wonderful and inspiring layouts from everyone. I am finally getting time to get back to mine. Here is a tongue-in-cheek look at some to the postal tags we find in postal bins (Lettertainers - weird name, I know - we just call them bins, tubs, totes), or tags that are attached to cages. We laughed when we saw the NECF tag on a cage. All I could think of of was a warehouse full of empty margarine containers. Just seeing the initials made it seem like some secret Gov't spy agency. Even funnier was the name of the town (actually not that far away from where I live), then we thought I was some kind of joke. I had to add inset pictures to illustrate the silliness even more. We were excited that day to see two whole cages full of brand new bins with nice intact pockets for the tags we have to put in the pocket. They aren't usually as nice as this. We do lots of mail prep jobs that go to the main post office depots, as do many other companies and we get older bins in circulation with the weirdest stuff written on them. These bins/cages are property of the post office, I find it bizarre that non post office people feel free to mark them up. Edited February 21 by Susan Ewart 3 7 3

Art Kuiper Posted February 21 Posted February 21 I have put a different twist on the Day 5 lesson. So far all the waterfalls I have used are of the natural variety. But as I was going through my photo library I noticed a picture that I took as an amusement park. I realized that we also have man made waterfalls. Now I also understand how to make and manipulate masks better. 6 8
DianeM Posted February 21 Posted February 21 @Krystyna Nicholls Your page 3--This is a really effective way to use the split color technique. It enhances the photo so much. I remember it involves masking and a recolor adjustment layer but have forgotten the method for doing it. I have to go back and review it. 4
Donna Sillia Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Day 5 - I used the 3600 template first, then used the cass script template resizer to convert it into letter size. When I resized it, the pictures were moved, but I decided that I liked it better that way. The background was ai generated for my calendar. The photos are from David. The font is Royal Thailand(there are several forms of the font in the file) from CF. 3 9
Rene Marker Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Day 5: PSP layout. I split the photo space into 2 uneven areas to accommodate the 2 photos I wanted to use. Affinity layout. I could tell you that I split the photo layer into 3 photos by doing a selection then deleting but I would not be telling the truth. Actually, I just pulled in the 3 photos I wanted to use, sort of lined them up then hid the photo layer. The 2 portrait photos I grouped and resized in the group so they would stay the same size. Then I ungrouped them and lined them up with the landscape photo. I did enlarge the landscape just a little bit so both sides lined up with the photos below it. I decided to move the photos to the left side of the page so grouped the photos, moved them then ungrouped them. 4 9
Connie Collier Posted February 21 Posted February 21 (edited) Page 5 - the only alterations I made was to make the original mask a bit bigger and move the text around. And it took me forever to remember how to turn the text. Edited February 21 by Connie Collier 4 10

Corrie Kinkel Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Day 5 I just split the big photo layer into two because I wanted to use these 2 photos anyways. I want my magazine to follow a certain logical line to get a more or less coherent story. When you visit the park there is a road through a tunnel where the view over the park is iconic. Photos taken on this spot called tunnel view are in all advertisements, flyers, posters and on almost everything you can buy in the village shop. At this point is a rather big parking area, everybody wants to take that photo, I was lucky when we were there it was not crowded. 4 9

Krystyna Nicholls Posted February 21 Posted February 21 @DianeM Hi Diane, the two colour text was simply using the selection tool rectangle and covering the lower half of the text. Pick your colour with the dropper, and then with the fill brush (looks like a bucket of paint) colour in the lower half of tbe text. It was on Carole's day 3 tutorial. 3 1
Harmony Birch Posted February 21 Posted February 21 (edited) Todays inspiration was a family trip to Lappa Valley where tragic history combines with traditional family fun. Euka Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Day 4 - this was a challenge (with the split font colouring) but I think that my version of AP is the problem - after many efforts that caused affinity to crash that many times trying to follow the video I gave up and not sure what I ended up doing but got the split colour. 3 10
Jeni Simpson Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Day 4 double-page spread This was not so easy, finding 3 photos that worked together. I'm finding it fascinating trying to clip images to the photo placeholder...they don't, until I jiggle them around then, voila...there they go! I have no idea what I did differently! I realise, too, I have been using the copy text font, Century, in headings on pages 2 and 3! Duh!!! Because they are so large I have reduced them to 550 pixels, and will add them here separately. 4 9
Jeni Simpson Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Day 4 - next page in double-page spread. I found mosses scattered on rocks, grasses, and in all sorts of places. 3 10
