Things change over time, and what was common 30 or 50 years ago, is no longer considered safe. I never encountered accidents or serious incidents involving things that changed since then. I assume that people have changed their opinions based on some of those. One example was how babies were left to sleep without a crib.

My grandfather was a mechanics by trade, but he was also a tech guy of his times. He had a movie camera and he would love to do stop animation. Yes, I saw one of his movies he made when I turned 1, meaning, more than half a century ago!

Although i have not been much of a card player, my parents and uncles and aunts seemed to love that. Since i was raised with only one little brother (8 years younger than me), i guess we never had enough people to play cards at home. When I was in Secondary 2 (or grade 8), I went to a new school. That school had a band. I had never participated in a band before. Since several students had been there for a few years already, I became a flag bearer instead of in the musical player. At least, that was not too hard, right?

Remember when…? – Washing

Things have obviously changed over time, and one of those things is everyone's job description. Now, because of unions and job descriptions, I know that I can't hammer a nail to hang anything in my office. Instead, I have to ask the maintenance staff; it is THEIR job, not mine. But 40-50 years ago, that didn't seem to be a problem, and the students, would do the janitor's job!

Remember when…? – Pen and paper

In the last decade or so, we have seen an explosion of technology and this has changed how children play. The old toys and activities have been replaced by monitors and controlers. Social play seemed to have faded away for smart phones, and sedentary activities. But looking back, it is amazing how little we needed to keep ourselves entertained!
