  1. I occasionally buy ebooks. I prefer Kindle over iBooks, but my main source is Libby through which you can download loans from your library. In my area, there are three libraries that I have access for loans--Cleveland Public, Cuyahoga and the State of Ohio. Covid gave us easier access by letting you sign up for a card online. They also have magazines, videos and audio books. Libby is a free app, and you can also download Kindle books.
  2. I can sympathize, Corrie, since I have problems with my eyes since 1965. I spent my summer days when I was in school at the library before problems developed. I quit smoking in 1995 and used cigarette money to buy books. When I taught, I was very aware of low vision students and tried to make every accommodation for them. Now, e-books and e-readers are invaluable assets to those of us who have vision problems.
  3. I have always loved to read and was always encouraged by my mother. I used to read both hard cover and paperback books. However, due to eye problems that started in my early 20's, I am so grateful for ebooks which are so much easier to read on my iPhone. The phone is the perfect size since my eyes have trouble following a long sentence. It is also easier to hold in my old age. What a good idea to put the book on your iPad or tablet. I have Kindle on my iPad and never thought of using it until the suggestions in this thread. It will be so much more convenient to have the iPad next to the computer.
  4. I just downloaded Kindle for my computer and ordered the Kindle version.
  5. Still Playing with strings. The plaid is from FF, and I followed the string tutorial in Scrap Tutorials and then used to directionaltube script to make the string into a tube. I used the vector tube script on the border of the flower and on the middle circle. I also applied the etchedglass script to a black layer and merged the glass over the original layer. I never bothered with making strings before our last Master Class. However, now I have found that they are fun to make with all sorts of colors and patterns. This particular string would fit in my Build a Kit 2.
  6. I would love a demonstration! They were all made with the directionaltube script.
  7. Playing with make ropes and strings
  8. I'm still stuck on vectors which I find fascinating. My latest little creature is an owl. The patterns are from FF, the feathers around the face are a'dozi feather brushes. Feathers on body, chest and wings are from feathers from CF made into patterns. Eyes and feet are from Canva.
  9. Thank you, Susan, I forgot to add that I used Filter Forge for the tail feathers and the chest area. I also used a FF cartoon effect to make the tail feathers less realistic. I had so much fun that I have others from this CF download called littlest pet shop.
  10. Creative Fabrica has a font called 212 US Dings that includes each state and a US map.
  11. Copying a chicken from CF
  12. Corrie, it was so much fun playing with it. I should have used a smaller font on my husband's picture.
  13. Finally got to lesson 6.
  14. I spent yesterday revising my wedding card. Most of the graphics are from CF except the silhoutte which is from Canva. The side font is ruritania. The other fonts are FarewellAngelina and FancyPants(I don't remember where I got them) and starinline(purchased from Deeezy.com). The other font is DDRadford from CF. I made the letters M and J, but stupidly forgot to save the vector so I don't remember what it is, but it's from CF. I also made the gold frame on the inside. The wedding is today so I just managed to get it ready after an extremely hectic week. The card is an 8 1/2 by 11 printed borderless on card stock.
  15. I'm still behind since we have been entertaining a very good friend this past week. Here is my vector tube. I also experimented with vector paint and really liked the results.
  16. The first image is from CF and the font is Chrishmkbold from my Hallmark Card program. The background is a gradient. The second picture was just sent to me by my grandson from Thailand where he is visiting and playing rugby. The font is from CF and called Asian Pacific.
  17. I'm not doing a whole lot with the lessons because we have a very, very welcome visitor whom we are entertaining. The pattern on the cup is my own, the drips and chocolate are from FF and the whipped cream is from the cass frosting script with the warp tool applied. Candy cane is from Canva.
  18. I redid my leaves using the pen tool and the nodes. I filled the first one with the photo of one of my leaves. I made wonky veins with the pen tool, added a gradient and filled with the fine leather texture. The stems were isolated--one filled with a gradient green and one filled with a brown gradient. This time was easier than the last time.
  19. "On the blog Speaking of vectors, did you ever wish you could turn a selection to a path? Well, you can with this script!" I downloaded this script, found it very easy to use and saves a lot of time. I used the selectiontopath script on the leaf, created a pattern from one of my leaf pictures and filled my vector with the leaf pattern. Carole, thanks for the tip on the blog. Is it ok to to use the script? I do realize that it will not work for all projects and want to continue learning how to manipulate nodes. Now that I viewed on the forum, I see where the pattern did not show all the spikes.
  20. Nothing fancy. I just added some vectortubes. This lesson was very helpful because I had forgotten about the cusp node.
  21. I started to make an arrow, but then began to play with the nodes and ended up with a pencil. I converted the pencil to a raster and filled it in with different textures. The heart was harder than I remembered, but I finally got it to look like a heart using a lot of guide lines. I used a lined stroke, duplicated the stroke and made it smaller to fit inside the bigger heart.
  22. I have been working on a card for my niece's bridal shower this month. My backgrounds are from CF. and the side panel is from the cass offsetcutout. The main font is Valentines, but the first letter is Flowerina both from CF. The hearts are from a Script Bundle downloaded from CF. The heart part of the frame is from CF, and I made the outer frame.
  23. Actually, I did use Text on a path, but my path was wonky. I remade it using a path that more closely followed the line on the banner.
  24. Day 5 - I'm running behind this week. All the images are from Creative Fabrica except for the umbrellas which I made a long time ago and which I made into watercolors using casswatercolor script. Font is called Better Spring Font from CF. The circle design was made from Day 2 stripes lesson. The umbrellas were actually made for a very good friend who had just had twin grandaughter and grandson.
  25. First, I used a layer style on the vector(25, 50 opacity), then I converted it to a raster and applied an inner bevel(I am sorry, but I forgot which one but probable a thick one.)
