  1. At that point, are each square is on its own layer. So, you can turn them into mask layer one by one, or group some (like the four together). Or you can use them as template to replace by papers.
  2. That is strange. Although one issue might be duplicates since supplies included in the data folder might be the same from one version to another. When you point PSP to a different file location, it does not usually include anything in the data folder. Even if you "import from previous version", it does not consider the data folder. Although they are often the same, it is not ALWAYS the case. For example, some picture tubes in PSP9 have not been included in subsequent versions. The suggestion to have "all supplies" outside of PSP, mostly means the ones in Documents. Having all in one folder has several advantages: supplies are available in multiple versions at the same time, if you are using more than one version. as soon as you add new supplies, they are immediately available in all the versions pointing to that folder if you uninstall one version, there is no risk of losing supplies you have created/purchased/downloaded. Although you are asked if you want to remove those folders when uninstalling, it is not 100% sure. It happened to me ONCE. The only inconvenient I found is that some supplies are somewhat version-dependant. For example brushes used in older versions could only be 500 pixels. Then, in version X, it went up to 999 pixels, and in X8, it went up to 3000 pixels. This means that if you download a brush that is 1500 pixels, you cannot use it in versions older than X8, even if the File Location points to the folder where they are. In that case, you might want to make sure to identify the folder by the Brush size (I offer brushes with the suffix -999 for larger ones and -500 for the smaller ones).
  3. Oh yeah, the bathroom sink!! Slippers never used that, but another cat of mine did! I have had several cats over the years so there are many locations that were favorite. One cat even loved the box of Legos. Talk about something that should not be very "comfy"!
  4. One thing I found out is the the BrushTip_ file that ends in .PspScript, refers to the file name of the .PspBrush file. If you might have changed the name of that file (say, you want to rename them so they had the designer's name or some other way to be meaningful), that change has to also be done INSIDE the .PspScript file, otherwise, you get that blob. I have done that mistake when I tried to organize brushes!
  5. Yes. The blobs you see are likely because one of the two files is missing. You might have accidentally deleted the other but more likely, you didn't save it where it is supposed to go (maybe yu didn't know about the BrushTip_ file since it ends in .pspScript). You can always "import" them and PSP will create the missing file for you. You can also use sub-folders for the brushes, always making sure you have both files together. So you can have a sub-folder for my corner punches, one for the stitching brushes, one for watercolor brushes, etc. That way, if you know what you want to use, you can always change the Category on top to the sub-folder you want to browse, instead of "All", which is then quite long to scroll. You can even point PSP to only some sub-folders if you don't want it to load them all. For example, if you have brushes for specific holidays (like Christmas), you might not need them in June.
  6. Another workshop will soon start. Are you in? It will start on March 20th. This workshop is FREE for everyone, so spread the word. This workshop is meant to be for those with some experience with PaintShop Pro. If you are brand new to using the program, it will be a little more challenging, although we are here to help you if you still want to participate. Did you find this thread before the registration page? Here it is. Written instructions and extra supplies will be available to our DIAMOND members.
  7. Do you have a pet who has found some really unusual or funny place to hide or stay? Share with us. Anything else you want to chitchat following today's newsletter is fine too. Let's chat.
  8. @Susan EwartIn the presentation, I used a 2000x2000 pixels image. If you used a larger image to start with, you might want to double the shadow and maybe add an extra Gaussian Blur.
  9. I don't know how it looked before but yeah, by reducing the resolution, you will have some empty side bars. I got so used to mine that I don't notice them anymore. So you might be stuck with either that, or small icons. It is all because the resolution of your monitor is likely different than what you had before. Do you know that newer versions of PSP have even larger icons now? Perfect even for low vision!
  10. Go to View > Customize and under the Options tab, make sure the "Use small icons" is unchecked. Another thing that could affect the whole display is your monitor resolution. I personally use a lower resolution than recommended because otherwise, everything is smaller (which is a problem when I teach or record video tutorials).
  11. Although it has not been 5 weeks, but I have done some changes about 2 weeks ago in the backend. If you want the long explanation, here it is. The creationcassel.com domain is on a shared server. Because of that, the server IP is often flagged by various email providers as "spammy". I know it is not me spamming anyone, but others on the server. For that reason, the host changes the server IP about every day, so what is flagged as spam one day, shouldn't be the next day. However, some email providers are much pickier (gmx was a big one) and just about none of the emails coming from the server (so emails from the store, or from me directly) would not go through. The scrapbookcampus.com domain, however, is on a VPS so it is not flagged as spammy. So, what I did was get all the emails from the creationcassel.com sites to go through the VPS. This required quite a bit of changes in the DNS, SFP, and such. The result is that now, invoices from the store, or direct emails from me, go directly through the VPS and won't be flagged as spammy so they finally reach the recipients. So that is the extend that I can do to help. Now, everyone uses their own providers/system and they all seem to have various tolerance level for spam (or what they think it spammy). I also suspect that they might be changing their alogrithm once in a while in order to catch the spammers who try to be smarter. Yeah, it is annoying for you. I wish there was a magical button I could push to fix that for everyone!
  12. @Susan EwartI actually have that very question as a future blog post, but I can do a demo during the Q&A if you want. And the answer would still be "YES, just create the folder in Windows and NO, you don't need to tell PSP since it is inside a folder it already knows of"
  13. Isn't it fun to have a Cricut on hands? I got mine on special after we got one at work and I started discovering all that can be done with it. I have done paper craft for the staff during our Christmas party. I have done cake toppers for birthday party. I have done tons of decorations for my grandson's parties. I have done iron-on design on an apron for a collegue. I have done greeting cards. I also did vinyl deco for a wooden tray we upcycled. I have also used it to make puzzle pieces to accompany some of the Letters from the North Pole. I have even done stencils for my son to paint designs on his car! Now, are you going to have one new notebook for every workshop?
  14. This week, I found an old layout I made for ... a challenge. So I will challenge you too. I want a layout that will help us know you better. Your layout needs: Two photos of you (an older one and a newer one) 10 attributes/qualities to describe you (I know, that is always hard) Some brushwork Incorporate your favorite color so it will be all about YOU! So, what will you create? Here is the old layout that is the base for this challenge.
  15. You could have to resize the image so the edge of the photo is passed the edge of the mask. Another way would be to tweak the mask by erasing that area with a soft brush tip.
  16. B = Beer (yeah, that was an easy one!)
  17. Let's talk about legends and superstitions. Do you know of any? Let's chat, just for the fun of it.
  18. It took me a few seconds to analyze that image as I initially "saw" the tiger fighting with another creature!! Wonderful photo.
  19. See if you can adjust other settings for your pen/tablet for Hover, touch, double-touch, etc. And also if your pen has a button. For me, the pen has one and clicking on it while dragging the pen on the tablet allows me to scroll on a web page or drag something. Different devices have different settings, so maybe there is something that you have not explored yet??
  20. In March, the theme is ST-PATRICKS DAY. Do you have pictures or stories surrounding St-Patrick's Day? Is that even something you celebrate? If so, how? Share your stories in pictures or in words. Add stories to those photos but you know that you can also tell stories without photos! Let's go! Post your project in the gallery.
  21. In March, our monthly theme is St Patrick's DAY. What do we know about Irish folklore? About four-leaf clovers? and pot of gold? Or maybe other traditions we tend to associate with St-Patrick's Day? Let's find words that start with each letter of the alphabet, on that theme. I think it might be a bit more challenging than usual, but you always surprise me! Let's go!
  22. It is a new month and new projects. Show off what you are working on in March, be it a scrapbook page, a collage, a tutorial, or anything else you want. We are curious and want to see, learn, and get inspired. These threads are quickly becoming a fantastic source of inspiration, support, and friendship. Keep them coming! Remember to size down your image to about 600x600 pixels and save in jpg format before posting it. Here are a few guidelines for everyone: when you post a project, give as much information on your sources or techniques used. It will help others who are curious and would like to do the same. if someone uses something that you like on their page, ask where they got it. Sometimes, you can go get it too and it will be better quality than trying to extract it (as it would have been resized to post in the forum anyways). if it is something that they did from scratch, ask how they did it. It would be so helpful to everyone! if you like a photo and would like to “play with it”, ALWAYS ask permission. Sometimes, there are some limitations and the person is not allowed to let others use it. Don’t get them in trouble. Usually, people are happy to say yes (if they can) when you ask politely. And if you get permission, you might get a better-quality image than the resized image anyways.

    This one is for ME

Yes, it is me, in high school and about 10 years ago.
  24. Actually, although the functionality is present in PSP, it is not readily available outside of a script. That is why I coded this one. It is FREE and will mirror or flip all the layers. in one click.
  25. Are there some uses that still feel difficult to do with the tablet? I know I use it for everything EXCEPT one video game (that i have now installed on my laptop only). I uses it while surfing the net, replying to these posts, editing videos, working on text documents, coding with Notepad, working on my emails, editing and working on the site, etc.
