Learning scrapbooking is often done with practice, looking around for inspiration, and trying to recreate projects we admire. Sometimes, we can be inspired by finished projects, but sometimes, we also have to use our imagination to interpret something. This challenge will give you an opportunity to envision something from a “boring” base, and you will have to imagine the end result differently. The sketch is only a written idea, and you can fly with it, modify it, and customize it to fit your vision, your photos, your supplies. This sketch has lots of room to add stories about your photos, or you can focus on the stories instead of the photos. And if you want more information on using sketches, check out this article. Post your project in the gallery.

@mireillethat effect with the mesh in the back is lovely!!

G - Great (don't we all wish for a GREAT year?)
-
Awe... I see Annie in there! A big loss for our community! That layout is great!
-
I think you might just want to avoid very small circles where the inside seems smaller than the stroke. Otherwise, it looks fine to me.
-
It does not look like the thickness is changed. I think it is a relative size, and it is just because the smaller circles LOOK like the edge is thicker. What is it set at? Does it change?

Helen, did you want to get feedback on this or did you want to share it in the "What are you working on?" thread?

First of all, come and say HI once you register for this bootcamp. We want to know who else will be there, on our side to cheer everyone up. Everyone started as a beginner, so don't ever compare yourself to others. You will learn one tool at the time, one concept at the time and you will create one project at the time. Everyone will have different photos and possibly different supplies so every project will be different. Once the Bootcamp is started, on January 16th, 2023, you can post your projects in here. Remember to resize your images to about 600 pixels AND saving in jpg format, before uploading them to the gallery (check this tutorial to upload to the gallery) so it won't slow down the site when we have lots of your masterpieces. Try to follow the tutorials at least enough so that we can recognize what lesson you completed. Now, let's get ready ! If you missed the registration link or if you found this thread before I announce it (some people are very observant), HERE it is. Share it around if you want. Although this Bootcamp is mostly meant to help beginners, we won't exclude anyone for "excess experience". Some participants are back for a second (or third) round. You are always welcome. Remember that it will be the exact same tutorials so don't be surprised. I am sure you will now do something slightly different than the previous time. Since anyone can follow the whole Bootcamp using the trial version of PaintShop Pro, this is a perfect opportunity for anyone to give it a try and see how they like the program, so share with your friends who MIGHT consider using PaintShop Pro. The 7 tutorials will be spaced out over almost 2 weeks. This should make it easier for participants to follow without feeling stressed (it should never be stressful!).

Yes, it was one of those many settings in the backend that was set for admins but not for members. I could not see the difference until Ann pointed it out. ?
-
I would assume that it could be edited for that. You sure can try to edit it. And yes, the fonts used will create a vector image which will then be exported as a brush. That is the principle of the script. If considering a shadow, then it won't be a brush anymore because you won't be able to have colors applied to the shape itself while keeping the "shadow" as black/grey. That is the advantage/disadvantage of brushes: you can choose any color, but everything would be that color. Maybe this can be added as a question for the Q&A?
-
Don't change anything. Brushes require two files: one .pspBrush which is the actual shape of the brush tip and one is a matching .pspscript file, which includes informations and settings for the brush to work (if you open that file in Notepad, you will see what I mean). If you have one missing file, you will only see a blob in the drop down list, and the brush will be unusable. Keep them BOTH together in the Brushes folder.

For uploading from your computer, you don't use the Other Media, but what is at the bottom LEFT, where you can drag the file or choose the files..
-
Hum.... let me try it by using the Other Media. This SEEMS to work. Let me check further why you can't.
-
I am looking into that at this moment. I think it can be a setting you select under your own preference. If you click on your name on the top right > Account settings > Notification settings (on the right) > Followed content > and there, select the first two options under Automatically follow content. And if you want to be notified of all new threads, you can Follow the sections themselves. I think that should work.
-
I'll check settings. It SHOULD appear, but I might have set it wrong. Did you copy/paste the url or did you use the Other media > Insert existing attachment ?
-
You mean the weekly newsletter? Sure there will still be something like that. As for the forum itself, I would suggest that you go to the different sections and follow them, by clicking on the top of the section. I am still trying to figure this out, but I think that will notify you that there is a new thread... I think. Since this forum has been added only yesterday, I am also learning with you so if needed, I will be researching on my end too.

Yeah, I am looking at a way to recover the "rank" everyone had in the old forum. Not sure how it can be. The Alphabet game you are playing is on the "old" forum, so it is not integrated with this new one. We migrated the posts but not the ranking ... at least not yet.

In January, our monthly theme is NEW YEAR. What can you think of activities or elements related to the New Year? A celebration? A tradition? Let's see what words you can associate with each of the letters of the alphabet. Let's go!

It is a new month and new projects. Show off what you are working on in January, be it a scrapbook page, a collage, a tutorial, or anything else you want. We are curious and want to see, learn, and get inspired. These threads are quickly becoming a fantastic source of inspiration, support, and friendship. Keep them coming! Remember to size down your image to about 600x600 pixels and save in jpg format before posting it. Here are a few guidelines for everyone: when you post a project, give as much information on your sources or techniques used. It will help others who are curious and would like to do the same. if someone uses something that you like on their page, ask where they got it. Sometimes, you can go get it too and it will be better quality than trying to extract it (as it would have been resized to post in the forum anyways). if it is something that they did from scratch, ask how they did it. It would be so helpful to everyone! if you like a photo and would like to “play with it”, ALWAYS ask permission. Sometimes, there are some limitations and the person is not allowed to let others use it. Don’t get them in trouble. Usually, people are happy to say yes (if they can) when you ask politely. And if you get permission, you might get a better-quality image than the resized image anyways.

This year, we are going to be showcasing various celebrations. In January, the theme is NEW YEAR. Do you have some New Year's traditions? Did you celebrate it in a particular way? Did you make some resolutions? Do you have plans for the new year? Share them in pictures or in words. Add stories to those photos but you know that you can also tell stories without photos! Let's go! Post your project in the gallery.

Yes, the format was changed as it is a new plateform. However, you should be able to post images in different ways. Check the various new tutorials added here: https://scrapbookcampus.com/invision/forums/forum/22-forum-and-gallery-tutorials/

This was one of the most requested features for the forum: being able to react without having to type in something. This is one way for you to show your appreciation to someone, to thank another member, or to share a smile. Step 1. Find the reaction button on the right site of someone else's post (you cannot react to your own). Step 2. Hover over the reaction button, and you will see the list of the various possible reactions you can select. Step 3. Click the one you want. Thank you, Haha, WOW, Sad, Love, and Like. Once you have clicked on the reaction, you will see it appear and tallied with others' reactions. Step 4. The author of the post you reacted to will get a notification that someone reacted to their post. This is going to be a fantastic way to show your appreciation to what others are posting without taking much time. Take advantage of this feature both for the forum and the gallery. Everyone likes to be appreciated!

One great addition to this forum (compared to the previous plateform) is that you can easily quote someone and it looks great too. Step 1. Highlight the text you want to quote, from someone else's post. You will immediately see a little box "Quote Selection" Step 2. Click on that box and the content will automatically be copied into a reply along with the author of the initial text you are quoting. Step 3. Type in your response. This will also notify the author that they have been quoted, and it will be easier for them to see your response. You can then quote someone else in the same thread by repeating the same process multiple times.

This new forum is fairly simple to use. To start a new thread, the steps are super simple. Step 1. Click on the "Start new topic" on top of any of the sections. Step 2. Type in your text, and add images as needed. To add images, check the instructions to add them from the gallery, or from somewhere else. Step 3. Scroll to the bottom and hit the "Submit Topic"
