  1. @Jeni Simpson Papyrus is definitely a traditional font to be used. @kasany Yes, a less ornate font is easier to read. @Michele Just a little trick if you want to add a link: link the text instead of adding the link separately, especially if it is a FB link as they are so long. @Julie Magerka Lovely cards for lovely people! @fiona cook Those dimensions SHOULD work. You just have to make sure that the printer you are using (if you are using at home) uses 300ppi. You might want to test it. @Doska St. Let me send you an email to check a few things to help with the freeze, ok? @MoniqueN. This shadow effect is great and it does give the impression of a thicker paper. @Donna Sillia When you want to create just an arc, the easiest way is to make three points: beginning, middle, and end, and change the nodes to Symmetric. Don't even try to make it freehand. It is a nightmare! 😉 @Louyse Toupin As I was scrolling to your card and saw the croc, I was wondering what kind of greeting card you were making, until I read it! @Anja Pelzer Those black gnomes stand out on the red/pink card. Great choice. @Randy Maybe that font is standard? I know I have it too and use it regularly. @Anne Lamp Who knows when you might use one of those in the future? If you don't use those, you might create new ones! Now, it is the last "daily post for me. If you encounter any issue, don't hesitate to post and I will respond (I get a notification for every single post in the forum!) Also, remember to fill out the survey about this workshop! I find it interesting that some registrants have filled out the survey but never posted any of their projects. But that is ok. Maybe some are uncomfortable posting their projects. Keep them coming if you are not finished.
  2. @Bonnie Borntrager @Jeni Simpson I LOVE that font you chose! @Sharla Great theme for that card and the image is very appropriate for an achievement! @Petra Nuijten You will still have a week to catch up. Looking forward to your projects. @Sue Thomas It is a great idea not to add a shadow. If you did, it would have to be quite faint anyways. @Doska St. Is that happening only with 2023 but not with other versions? @Michele Were the butterflies already in those colors or did you need to colorize them? @kasany I think that the very fancy and delicate font you used would work better (easier to read) with no shadow at all. @Bonnie Ballentine For the card "I am rich", I wonder if the text reads well in full size? If not, maybe it can be emphasized with a glow around it? @Anne Lamp I would not necessarily have noticed the template you used if it was not the fact that I was using that same template in the book I am writing, and I was on that chapter! @MoniqueN. I don't know if you did it on purpose or how you did it, but the sort of "see-through" on the left of the watercolor scene is very interesting. @fiona cook I am glad that the classic Materials Properties has helped you. @Gerry Landreth I am glad you enjoyed the workshop. @Donna Sillia I think that the text on the banners could be done with the Text on path, so you could have it follow the banners more. @Harmony Birch It is fine to tweak the templates. That is the beauty of templates! I think that on the last card, you flipped the ribbon. It shows as the lighting on the bevel is now in the wrong direction. @Sheila Hogg Thank you for your kind words. I am also thrilled by all the cards that were created. @Peggy Dyar For the corner punches, have you thought of using the guides? @Corrie Kinkel I always love to see your little logo on each card. It looks so professional! @Louyse Toupin On your card, if you have a black outline on text, you don't need as much of a shadow. In fact, you can even skip the shadow since that outline creates a nice definition of the edges. @carol Woudema Again, I think you resized the photo incorrectly. Those poor ladies will have a headache! Did you check out this article on resizing photos? @Anita Wyatt I am glad you are safe. Things can always be replaced. I am sure you will have time to catch up. Today was the last tutorial of the Workshop. Tomorrow will be my last day of adding comments to each poster, but the thread will stay open so even if you are still taking a few days to finish, you will still be able to post.
  3. It does not matter what size you want in the end, but if you just use the Resize command and go from a rectangular format to a square format, you would lose the proportions of the elements. Here is an article on resizing templates. Although it is for scrapbook pages, it is the same for card templates.
  4. @Jeni Simpson That is such a lovely card. I think it is the first one I have seen in this workshop on that theme. It is a great idea to create postcards instead of greeting cards. You can use the same templates! @kasany That is so interesting to have an out-of-bound image instead of a clipart! @Harmony Birch That card makes me smile. I think I will contact CF to point them to this thread as so many of their graphics are showcased in these beautiful cards. For your snowman card, there is a lot of blue tint. Have you considered using a color adjustment like Grey World? It is not available by default in recent PSP versions but you can retrieve it easily. Check this article (about halfway down). @Michele Those balloons are so simple yet make a great composition. @Doska St. What PSP version is giving you those issues? @Randy That is a great way to use other tools and effects. @Corrie Kinkel I love how you used the "bee" instead of "be". It is perfectly suited to the theme. @Sue Thomas With all those nature events, you will be quite busy! 😉 @Gerry Landreth Great text on path technique! @Minka Glasier Such a fun and colorful card! @Ann Seeber I bet you can stay busy all year with all those birthdays! @carol Woudema Those milestones really deserve to be celebrated! @Anne Lamp Did you use the card template or a different one? Strangely, it matches exactly one template from the Template workshop. @Sharla That bunny certainly looks happy. A great card to keep for next year. @Louyse Toupin That is a fun and colorful composition! Next, we want a picture of YOU on your scooter! 🙂 @Anja Pelzer Good to see you catch up. On your second card, may I suggest you add a little 3D effect on the ribbon? It is the only element without bevel or shadow. @Sheila Hogg If you had not mentioned that you used a font for that edge, I would not have guessed it. Great job! @Bonnie Borntrager You have to be careful in resizing the images to fit a template. If you change the proportions, it will squish the image. Check this article about resizing. Tomorrow is the last template and the last tutorial of the workshop. Don't worry, the tutorials will stay available until next weekend so if you had some time issues, you will have several days to catch up.
  5. This is actually a great idea and you are right, it was not included in the book so far. I guess I might need to add at least one chapter on the topic!
  6. I am providing you with a card with 24 elements that can be included in a layout. You can make a bingo by using any element in a straight line that would make a bingo, whether it is a horizontal line, a vertical line, or a diagonal line. That means that you have to include 5 (or only 4 if you use the FREE in the center) elements in your layout. Of course, you can have more than one bingo if you want to create more than one layout. Once you post your layout, tell us what 4-5 elements from the Bingo card you are using (it is just easier for everyone to check on you! ? ) So, here is your card, for May 2024. If you are a DIAMOND member and want to create those elements, you are more than welcome. All the elements listed have a tutorial inside the membership. If you don't have access to those tutorials, or if you don't want to do anything from scratch, you can also use ready-made elements. There is no rule for or against that. The only rule: have fun and be creative!
  7. @Wendy Sanders You are doing it right. Only if you want to quote someone, you can highlight the phrase or paragraph to quote. Otherwise, you can just post at the bottom of the page. @kasany That is a cute font. When you use a decorated font, especially with bevels, go easy on the shadows so it does not detract for the details. @Michele That is a really cute font! @Jeni SimpsonThat is a great way to showcase those birds. @Peggy Dyar It is interesting to see the frame halfway over/under elements. @fiona cook Did you try both the black and white shadows or just opt for white from the start? @Donna Sillia How did you get the 3D effect on the text for the valentine card? @Gerry Landreth That is a smart thing to do: be prepared for both options! @carol Woudema Did you size your project to less than 600 pixels and then size it up? It is strange how it is pixelated. @Harmony Birch It is never too early to prepare for holiday cards! @Sue Thomas With all those invitations, we will have a party at your place! @Anne Lamp I think you might want to fix a typo on "May YOUR future be bright" before sending it out! @Corrie Kinkel That is a great way to use the stacked wooden alpha. @Julie Magerka You are totally free to change the theme for any of the cards! @Randy It is fun to see those abstract designs find a way to embellish a regular card. @Sheila Hogg It is fun to see the use of extra glyphs! @Louyse Toupin Be careful resizing images. The flowers are obviously stretched. It is ok to keep them proportional, even if they don't span the whole width. Still two days to go. This thread is a fantastic source of ideas!
  8. I had an article on that just last week: https://scrapbookcampus.com/2024/05/materials-properties-paintshoppro/
  9. When one of my daughter's friends came to visit from Germany, we were driving in town and there was a groundhog on the lawn in a public park. He was so intrigued. He asked us to stop, and he went pretty close to take pictures. He had never seen that animal and he went on to search on the net what it was.
  10. @Jeni Simpson Although I am usually picky about shadowing, in cards, it can be fine to not have any, and your card illustrates this very well. On the other hand, the shadow on the four squares creates the illusion of a window and it is very appropriate. And by the way, even though you get two templates per day, you don't HAVE to make them both if you have less time! @fiona cook Yes, it is a matter of consistency. In card making, we can create something that does not have 3D effects, just like graphics, but if we want to add some, it has to be consistently used. For the Materials palette, maybe you need to use the Classic Materials Properties, available under File > Preferences > General Program Preferences > Palette @kasany You will definitely be ready for the holidays! @Michele Go for it: use shortcuts! You deserve to rest when you can! @Wendy Sanders Those images are so cute. They are lovely with a "get well soon card"! @Minka Glasier Very colorful and cheerful despite a more serious topic. @Ann Seeber I don't know if you did it on purpose but the first thing that caught my eye was the font and the fact that it looks like a cutout, a very intricate cutout! @Donna Sillia That is a great way to use extracted elements from your own photos. @Sheila Hogg I am glad the technique works for you. Something else for your "toolbox". @Sue Thomas If there are any "real" events in your neighbourhood, you should show them your cards. They might borrow your expertise to create some real invitations! @Corrie Kinkel That is such a delicate composition! @Gerry Landreth I love that quote! That will surely be a great card to receive! @Dee347 CF is getting great publicity with all the cute images used from them! @carol Woudema What a great idea to have a card for a pet adoption event! @Sharla That is such an interesting way to use those images for gardening! @Randy Custom selection is a great tool and has so many uses! @Anne Lamp Always be careful when adding a black shadow on black text. If it is too intense, it affects the legibility of the text. If you want to add a shadow, make it lighter than you would on other paper elements for example. It is because the text has so many curves and corners. @Louyse Toupin I think that either you missed some shadows, or forgot to remove one. With or without shadows is fine, but you have to be consistent for all four. @Julie Magerka That card makes me smile. A different way to invite a valentine! I am blown away by all the different results we can see while starting with the same templates and the same tutorials. Keep it up. Maybe we'll need to open a boutique! 😉
  11. Just like Ann showed. A groundhog is about the size of a cat. In our town, we used to have an annual Groundhog festival. The groundhog is the animal that comes out on February 2nd, and if he sees his shadow, he will go back to his hole and we'll have 6 more weeks of winter. If not, it should be an early spring. If you search for "punxsutawney phil", you will see some pics of a "famous" groundhog.
  12. @Anita Wyatt That is interesting to use other cards. Was it a card you scanned? @Michele Of course, when you feel better, you can take this workshop and still post in this thread. @Dee347 That is a great customization of a simple card. I bet you can create a dozen from the same template! @kasany Adding that wire heart on top gives quite a special effect. If I could offer a suggestion, be careful with the shadows on your text: the shadow seems to overpower the writing making it hard to read. @Wendy Sanders I bet your friend will appreciate that custom card! @Sue Thomas I also tend to like more subtle patterns in cards. @Jen Brown Simple and to the point! @Donna Sillia Those flamingos are cute. I bet you could not find such a card in the stores! @Julie Magerka Beautiful and delicate card. (I am glad my repeating steps over and over is not annoying you!) @Peggy Dyar Isn't that fun how quickly a card can be completed? I am glad you appreciate the tips. @Petra Nuijten I think that the colors turned out great! And that little added bee is so cute. @Ann Seeber Ouch@ A cracked pelvis must not be fun! She will surely appreciate the card. @Gerry Landreth Aren't we looking for extra glyphs now when choosing a font! Something I didn't do when I started with PSP! @Minka Glasier It is such a good idea to use images. And what an original way to plan an event! @Corrie Kinkel It is nice that those cards can be used both digitally and printed. @Sheila Hogg Yes, CF is a great source for images and elements to use. @Anne Lamp I LOVE that card with the little monsters. So unique!
  13. @Corazon Barrameda I am glad you joined. Follow the tutorials and you should be able to create fun greeting cards. Looking forward to seeing them. @Ann Seeber I guess this workshop was perfectly timed for your needs! And you might want to add something "special" inside that card to your step-daughter! @Wendy Sanders Great card for a start of this workshop! @Doska St. Those colors are beautiful. I gather you have found the gallery to post in. @kasany Beautiful card! I am sure your family will appreciate it. @fiona cook Great card. May I suggest that you either add shadows to all the elements or none at all? Just a suggestion. @Petra Nuijten I see that you added just a faint shadow. That is a great idea as it does not look like an obvious shadow. Good work. @Gerry Landreth Great card for a great occasion! @Sharla That could be an interesting topic for a class. I'll keep that in mind. For your card, it is simple but effective! @Corrie Kinkel I love how you add your logo on the back. @Minka Glasier That is such a great idea for a card! @Donna Sillia It is great to see you manage to resize the cards to fit your needs. @Sue Thomas Honestly, when do you really follow a tutorial to the letter? 🙂 You always add your own touch! (and we love that!) @Sheila Hogg I think your card is great. Simple, elegant. What does not resonate with you? @Julie Magerka Are we invited to that bake-off? I could just be the taster! @Randy What size are you trying to get? Were you using the Resize command? @Anne Lamp It is fantastic when you can customize a card to the particularities and interest of the recipient. You can never get such custom cards in a store! @Anita Wyatt The size should be about 600 pixels in width. If you save as a jpg, it should be way less than 500 kb. I am looking forward to all the upcoming cards!
  14. Have you ever had a funny or cute encounter with wildlife? Was it at home or on vacation? Share with us and if you have photos, share those too!
  15. I am impressed to see so many different cards posted. @Petra Nuijten I am sure a friend would LOVE to receive that card. @Bonnie Borntrager I see that you resized the template. May I suggest that you CROP it instead of using the resize command? That way, the scallops and the circle wouldn't be stretched/squished and you could still have the same shapes. Good start. @Dee347 That is a cool idea for sharing your skills and creativity, and that card is lovely! @Corrie Kinkel If you had not said what template you used, I might have thought you tweaked the original one! I guess you like scallops! @Sue Thomas An invitation is definitely an alternate way to use those templates. So many ways one single template can be used! Looking forward to all the other ones. @Minka Glasier Nice cards! You might consider making the shadows a little more prominent when the colors are darker. @fiona cook I am glad to see that you cropped the template instead of resizing it. It allowed you to keep the scallops intact. @Sharla It is never too early to start on Christmas cards! Did the photo and the clipart come together or did you make the montage? @Anne Lamp That is such a cool font. Thanks for the information about it. @Julie Magerka Such a delicate card! Again, never too early to start on Christmas cards. For Victoria Day, I have never heard it called the May 2-4 day (and I am Canadian). That is interesting. @Sheila Hogg That glitter edge is lovely! @carol Woudema GReat card!! I would suggest looking at your shadowing to make sure they are consistent. The shadow on the flower is in a different direction than the one on the ribbon, and the scallops could use some too. @Gerry Landreth Awe, we will never see too many of those baby photos! @Louyse ToupinIs that birthday card for a specific person? Keep them coming. As you can see, greeting cards are much faster to complete than full scrapbook pages! Looking forward to the next ones.
  16. You can, but you have to add it before you "split" it.
  17. I use Chrome. Firefox is a hit-or-miss for me. For example, I checked the last Master class and it plays fine in Firefox. If it does not for you, you can see how it can be problematic for me to find a cause 😞
  18. What browser are you using? I know that Firefox is causing issues with some codec thingie that I have no control over.
  19. Is there a particular category? I checked a few and they all play for me. Did you try a different browser?
  20. This challenge has had great success in the past so we can continue to have it on a regular basis, don’t you think? Just like those “some assembly required” kits that you can buy for a shelf, a chair, or a picnic table, I am including a 3600×3600 pixels canvas with some shapes. You HAVE to use the shapes in the size and proportions they are. You can move them, rotate them, flip them, and rearrange the layering if you want but you cannot resize them. You need to use ALL the pieces but you can add more if you want. So it is like all the pieces to build a DIY shelf: you cannot change the size of the pieces but you can use them creatively. Obviously, you will want to recolor them or replace them with papers, photos, etc. We just need to be able to recognize the initial shapes. Here is a preview of the shapes involved. The dashed shapes can be painted lines or stitches. The rectangles can be papers or photos. Remember that you CANNOT replace them. They are NOT placeholders. And that squiggly line? What will you do with it? Click here to download the layered template. Post your projects in the gallery.
  21. I was actually going to ask around for some layouts. I have quite a few of my own, but would love to have some others too. I'll post a call as soon as I have more specific requirements! I would also LOVE to have more examples, like in a sort of "gallery" at the end of the book but that might make it a bit too thick at this point. But I'll see what I can do.
  22. I am just updating this thread. After a few months, I am at the point where all the chapters and tutorials are done, at least, the first version. There are two main sections: the Technical section about scrapbooking and a practical section (called "Scrap with me") that includes 10 projects, ranging from quick-pages to layouts done completely from scratch with different special effects. So far, I have about 260 pages!!! I still have to do the appendix, the index, the credits and references, and add a few more images. So things are moving along!
  23. You can make a layout without any photo! Those are still fun layouts to enjoy!
  24. Although the Northern Lights have been a big event last weekend, it might happen again in the near future. Did you see them? Have you ever seen them in the past? Do you have pictures? Let's chat. If you are interested, here is a link to the NATIONAL OCEANIC AND ATMOSPHERIC ADMINISTRATION. It offers the forecasts for auroras. There is also this app: Aurora that I downloaded on my phone. It shows many days ahead, if there are chances of Northern lights in your area. A cool little app (I only have the free version).
  25. My phone seems to only go as high as 800 ISO, which might not have been enough. I am not sure it has any control for speed. I might have to check. It is an old phone, from 2017 so it might not have been available then. Or, if i can dig up an old digital camera??? There should be more northern lights tonight!
