Depending on what content you download/install or purchase, they can be found in many different locations. First of all, once you have downloaded/installed them, do they appear in the drop-down list? For example, are the new picture tubes appearing in the Picture Tubes dropdown? If yes, they are installed properly and if you want to know where, you can hover over them in the drop-down list and it will show a "bubble" with the exact path of that tube. The same thing for any other supplies that is supposed to be installed through that page. On the other hand, if you are NOT seeing what you just downloaded/installed, then they might have been installed in a location that is not listed under the File location so your version of PSP is not seeing them. Here are some places you can look for them: C:\ProgramData\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 20xx (in one of the sub-folders) C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 20xx (64-bit)\Languages\EN C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro\20xx or C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro\Purchased Do you find them there?

It might be hard when a writer is facing a blank page, but I can tell you that it is not much easier when you have TOO MUCH on paper! So far, I have these ideas for a specific How-to section. I might have to make it into separate sections as I already have almost 100 pages and that does not include the elements in blue, which would need to be added to this. PSP basics · How to link and group · How to use the Text tool · How to add text on a path · How to wrap text inside a shape · How to install/import brushes · How to use brushes · How to use picture tubes (chapter 10) · How to use preset shapes · How to use scripts · How to save your projects (there is a blog post) Scrapbooking how-to · How to colorize elements · How to shadow (chapter 10) · How to showcase lots of photos (chapter 10) · How to choose a color for a layout (in chapter 10) · How to fold a ribbon · How to use a paperclip · How to create clusters · How to use masks · How to avoid common mistakes (chapter 10) This is going to be a big book!! There is so much I want to include (and with your suggestions too), but I am pretty sure I will have to trim things down. So much to share, and so little space ;)

How did you pick the name of your pet? Did you have a particular reason for it? Did you let the kids choose? Was it the name the pet already had when you got him/her? Show us your pet and tell us the story of their name.

One thing I found is that if the starting shape is very close to the edge and depending on the number of repeats, if the shape (plus the border) touches that edge (often on the left/right sides), it will happen. I have taken that into account in the default shapes, but I can't control it when you use your own preset shapes. If that is the case, draw your shape slightly off the top of the red rectangle. It might address that.
-
Not really. The sizeof the individual shapes will be determined by the number of repeats. If you have fewer repeats, the size can be larger. If it has lots of repeats, it has to be smaller. The project will be created at 3600x3600 pixels by default. If you need something smaller overall, you can always resize it afterward. Remember that this is to create a template. If you want to place elements in a circle, that would be totally different (maybe something like this?)

Here is a challenge to do something that might not be repeated in other months. Just an idea that popped like that (and you can also send me suggestions for occasional random challenges too). This week, I want colors. I want you to create a project where various ELEMENTS will create a rainbow effect. You can have tons of buttons creating a rainbow sequence. You can use bits of ribbons. You can use scatters. You can use bits of papers. You can use brush strokes. It is not about showcasing an actual rainbow, or a rainbow gradient, but individual elements. Here are some examples. Paper pieces in the different colors of the rainbow. Brush strokes in the different colors of the rainbow. Colored effects on a photo How will you display all the colors of the rainbow with a series of individual elements/papers? (this challenge was actually presented in July 2022, but in the old forum, we have lost the images so you can resubmit the same ones if you want, or create a new one)

It is strange that you could not open it in Chrome. I use Chrome and it plays well for me. Glad you found another way around.

The forum thread will stay open, so don't rush for that. As for the workshop, for now, as a DIAMOND member, the tutorials will stay available to you.

This might help: https://scrapbookcampus.com/tips-tricks/binding-scripts-in-paintshop-pro/

I'll see if I can fit that. I don't know if any of those scripts would be useful for digital scrapbooking. Can you think of some?
-
As I am moving along with this book, I am thinking of having one whole chapter/section for PSP tutorials, or how to work with PSP for the basics. I am thinking of addressing how to work with Layers, the Text tool, the Brushes, and the Picture tubes. Since it is not going to be a PSP manual, what other "tool" do you think would need to be expanded in a digital scrapbooking book? I assume that the readers will at least be basically familiar with PSP and not complete newbies yet, we all know that even those with some experience with the program still don't feel comfortable with everything it can offer (and that could be useful in digital scrapbooking).

I have watched several of those other series. Australia, UK, New Zealand, and obviously, the English Canadian version. I am waiting for the French Canadian one, which was hosted by the SAME host as the English one, and filmed in the same location, in Montreal. I have also watched one season from France, and honestly, that is the one I liked the most. They had a few different twists than the others. I think that they really need to refresh the reality shows with new twists so it does not get stale or predictable. I also dislike the fact that they OBVIOUSLY cast the contestants to fit some profiles. It is like they NEED to cast a vocal gay contestant, they seem to NEED to cast an immigrant that has a big back story to share, they NEED to cast other minorities, etc. I like the diversity but then it looks like the back stories become too much part of the show, instead of the challenges and the strategies that are supposed to be the initial purpose.

Slippers has white paws and extra digits so it seemed fitting to have a foot-related name. As for Teddy, that was my daughter's cat. I don't know how he got that name.
-
Do you like reality shows? Which ones do you like? Which ones do you watch? Let's chat.
-
Slippers is MY cat, but Teddy is the cat in the picture!

Glad to hear that. I can incorporate that highlight in future recordings. I'm unlikely to be able to add it to past videos, the way they were recorded, however. -
@Bonnie Ballentine The Linoleum pattern is very addictive. It always gives something slightly different so it piques your curiosity! Your style is very simple and always focused on the photo as the star. @sharon thompson If you use a monochrome noise, the effect will be more subtle. If you want something bolder, use a multicolored noise. That is one way to control that. You mentioned that you converted the abr brushes using a freeware. What version of PSP are you using? You can import them directly in PSP starting with version X5. Check this video. The ability to open a font and have it available in PSP is not something that came with PSP, but it was a Windows feature. That was lost with Windows 8 (I think). I used to LOVE that feature. Since then, I have always used TheFontThing, which still works on my Windows 10. @Susan EwartI tend to find the point-to-point selection a bit frustrating as I find that it is hard to stop midway, and if you make a mistake in the selection, I find it harder to fix. Your Palette-1 layout is so colorful! That is a very creative way to use masks. About the Palette-2, isn't that interesting how the shadows will give a completely different effect? @Harmony BirchMaybe your shadow had a horizontal offset but 0 for vertical. At least, that is what it looks like, which is similar to a typical shadow when the element is rotated afterward. That font is nicely used! @Jen Brown Be careful with the kaleidoscope effect: it is addictive! LOL @kasanyThe little caterpillar and butterfly come from where? I have seen those shapes before. @MoniqueN.A simple brush tip can give a great result. You don't need anything fancy. And when you can play with the Brush Variance palette, it opens a whole world of options. @Anja PelzerYour use of the brush blends it so well with the photo. Great result. @Sue ThomasI would not know what a spanner is either! I heard a plumber call it an adjustable just yesterday. That was new to me too. @fiona cook It is great that you chose a font to match the photo. It makes your layout very cohesive. @Gerry LandrethAre you posting a different image? I still see the shadows on the top left of the title. Using snowflakes instead of polkadots is still using the same technique! @Ann SeeberYou used the corner punches in the mask? That is a cool idea. @Marie-ClaireThat last photo of Poncho makes me smile. How can you resist such a face? @Donna SilliaThat is quite a large kaleidoscope pattern! It is fun how to make that title look like a layered font. @Corrie KinkelAdjusting the blur of a mask is one command that you can do and it will suit your photo/project. @Carolyn RyeAs I have mentioned to others, be careful as the kaleidoscope and the linoleum patterns are addictive! I have been getting several requests for a "Brush Workshop". That was not in my to-do list for this year, but I might add it. I had something else in the pipeline, but I guess I can change that.

@Susan EwartNot many people have spikes like that at home. My husband found some beside the railroad by our house and managed to invent a game with those. I'll try to find where he posted it on the internet. I love how you manipulated that background paper to create a totally different effect. If you want to do extractions, check this article. That is my favorite technique. @Carolyn RyeYou are doing great with those masks! @kasanySince you ended up with a straight edge on the left, you could consider moving the whole mask to the left so the edge of the photo won't look like anything is cut off and it will look intentional. @RandyThat is an interesting idea to use the same image as a background. Have you considered using it diagonally? You can check this tutorial. The blue plaid is great and definitely not overpowering. You must have selected a great section to get that "subtle" design. @MoniqueN.Simple layouts are fun to make because they are faster, and yes, it does put the focus on the photo OR the text. @Emerald JayBeautiful photos and nicely showcased! @Jen Brown You earn extra points with such cute kitties!!! @Ann SeeberCombining a colored photo and a black-and-white photo with a mask gives a great effect. @Anne LampThat subtle layer of the photo in the background makes that page very interesting. @Gerry LandrethThat script creates a great effect. I think that the shadow on the title is inconsistent with the typical light sources. Can you consider putting them in the opposite direction? @Marie-ClaireKeep those brush strokes handy. You can use them as masks later too! @Donna SilliaI am sorry to have made you addicted to layered fonts! LOL @Corrie KinkelIsn't that good that those rocks are just digitals? @Harmony BirchDid you rotate your lace after adding the shadows? It looks like it is not consistent as it is going to the right, and not the bottom right. is the Butterfly font a layered font? @fiona cookThat Blend mode really makes the colors pop! @Bonnie BallentineYou are always having such interesting adventures!

Let's start a new challenge for all of us. We might often be the ones taking pictures but we are not the feature of our layouts, so let's change that since we ARE important and we have lots to say. Every month or so, the layout will be about YOU, and a prompt will be given. If you have taken the Story Week Challenge, you will find some similarities but it won't be the same. For the February layout, tell us something about your siblings. Do you have family pictures with everyone? Baby pictures of everyone? Do you have siblings or are you an only child? Of course, if you are an only child, you can also scrap about that fact. Did you wish you had siblings? Or did you love being an only child for whatever reason?

@kasanyWhat does the TB mean in your layout? Was that a lost Teddy Bear? @Rene MarkerOut of curiosity, does your version have the compression slider when you Save as...? It is great that you used the musical note but with only a little rotation and not have any upside down. @RandyYou will have fans with cat pictures! The plaid pattern made from the image will surely match. Play with the scale for different effects too. @Anne LampYou did something different, but it worked, right? @fiona cookAt first, I didn't realize that the "tips" were part of the mask: I thought they were the stems of the garlic! LOL Then, I realized how the mask was made! @Doska St.I don't know how PI works but in PS, you can "associate" the mask to a layer, while in PSP, masks need to be in a group. I guess it is a matter of habit, whatever program you use. You'll get used to PSP! @Gerry LandrethYou certainly used a lot of tools and tutorials for that beach project!! The result is great. @Ann SeeberSuch a great way to showcase a meaningful photo!!! @Marie-ClaireOne trick to create a kaleidoscope pattern that is not overpowering is to select a section with little color variations. Then, it would create a more subtle design. @sharon thompsonYou ended up with a great combo with your two photos. Maybe after some practice, you will get more comfortable with the Brush tool. Maybe, in the future, I could make a workshop just about Brushes? @Lynda DiGregorYes, photos shared through FB are purposefully downgraded. For some projects, it might be ok but if you wanted to print a full-size page, I am not sure how well it would be. I remember when I was at work and would want to create FB headers with photos shared from my colleague, they were often blurred. I HAD to ask her to send them by email, which annoyed her since FB was so much faster for her! @Donna SilliaHow did you do that green background? It looks great! @Corrie KinkelI can almost smell those flowers! @Emerald Jay Such a great mask to showcase this cutie! @Carolyn RyeI am glad to hear that you learn something in every lesson. That is the goal of these workshops!
-
@sharon thompson The difference with the compression is that you are likely using the File > Optimizer > JPG. In older versions of PSP, that was the only place to adjust the compression but since a few versions, it is available (like Julian illustrated) just in the Save as... dialog window when you choose jpg format. @Harmony BirchThat is a fun way to combine different tools to create that background paper. And that font is so fun! @Emerald JayAnother kitty picture. That background is great to showcase him. @fiona cookThat is a very creative way to showcase that tree! It is fun to hear that you had two mask groups. @Rene Marker Yes, when you have a sharp edge on a photo, it can be tricky. Depending on your preferences, you can consider placing an edge on the edge of the page, so that makes one less to worry about. But it won't always work out. Just an option to keep in mind *IF* it can work. @bina greeneIs that "due today" actually written on the wall? @Julian AdamsThanks for your help about the compression. I had forgotten to point that out. @Anne LampThat is a great idea to layer a colored version on a faded copy of the photo. The effect is very interesting. @Gerry LandrethThat is such a cute tradition. I am sorry for your loss, but she surely would love to see you enjoy that dessert (free or not!) @Donna Sillia Before reading your description, I thought you had used a sort of layered font! @Anja PelzerThose colors are so vibrant! It really makes that bird even more colorful! The layered papers really allow you to use a pattern that would otherwise be overpowering. @Corrie KinkelThat extra paint splash is just one element but really suits that layout to emphasize the flowers. @Bonnie BallentineYour adventures never cease to amaze me. There must never be a boring day for you!

I am glad it worked!

Were you customizing your workspace? I have never seen just a single menu go missing. Usually, it would be the whole toolbar. Can you try to go to View > Customize > Menu and click the Reset button?

@Carolyn Rye With more confidence, you will go faster when using masks. Those photos are great and I bet you will share them with your children and grandchildren! I am sure they would appreciate it. Maybe you can make a whole album just for them! For the way to respond, check this post. @bina greene It is ok if you opted not to use the plaid. if you learned the trick and practiced it, that was my goal. In the end, you are the one who knows what you want! And yes, Lady22 has so many great templates. That is why I love to feature them, and they are perfect to illustrate how to convert a shape into a mask. And yes, she replied to me and reuploaded the template with a new link. @Julian AdamsI could go on a longer explanation but basically, a mask is just like using a stencil to paint a pattern; the stencil part is black (which blocks the paint) and the white is where the paint will go through. The mask layer itself will have black and white (and grey) that can be added or removed. We use the Float command to transfer the "design" on the mask layer. But in the end, once you go through all the lessons, you will see how masks behave and should feel more comfortable with them. @Susan Ewartbased on your result, you certainly did it the right way. @fiona cookYou did, manually, what PSP can actually do with the Text Cutter! But that is totally alright! @kasanyDid you intend to have the main picture faded in the background? If so, it is ok. If not, it might be because the mask was more grey and black instead of white and black. @Donna Sillia Yum!!!! At least, there is no calorie while enjoying looking at that dessert! @Lynda DiGregorAre you taking those photos? Those flowers are remarkable! And that home away from home doesn't seem so bad with those beautiful flowers! @Corrie KinkelKaleidoscope patterns can range from powerful to subtle. You chose a good one to enhance your photo. @Harmony BirchThat pattern really enhance the color of her hair! @Anne LampI agree with you: corn is a vegetable! What size did you resize your image? It looks smaller than 600 pixels. @Marie-ClaireThose daffodils are brightening that page!!! I am really surprised that Poncho is not into modeling for you! He looks so great! @sharon thompsonI am really not sure how you ended up with the layer combo as you did. My suggestion is to just continue, and pay attention to all the steps and how they affect the layers. Maybe you will notice at what point the process stopped matching the tutorial and that might give you a hint of what was happening at the time. When you have time, you might revisit this one tutorial at the end. @Ann SeeberYes, be careful with the kaleidoscope: it is addictive! @Gerry Landreth In a way, I am happy I have only one cat now. I remember when I had two and they would wake up in the middle of the night. @Bonnie Ballentine Reusing the same pattern can work very well, and it would be easy to tweak the colors and the effects as needed. @Rene Marker You are doing great with masks and I love those you chose to use. They fit well to showcase the photos. @Emerald JayThank you for helping Sharon. I think it is very possible that she clicked Greyscale by accident since it is right above the Negative image! For your kaleidoscope, maybe you just didn't get a "good" one. Using the randomizer, you can be lucky quickly, or work longer to get something you like. Sometimes, it also depends on the colors you start with too.
