What kind of fundraising activities have you seen around? Can you describe some creative or unusual ones? Let's chat.
-
I'll check that for you.

Yes, I hope the quality is considered improved! And no, I had no idea a site could even last that long. Now, I wish for another 10+ years. Why not?
-
@Julie Magerka Did you manage to add your question in the end?
-
Unlike the previous forum platform, this one does not have a "spam" folder. The only thing I get, sometimes, is a notification that some posts need to be approved (usually when they have links). Strangely, it lets in some real spam, but flags the legit posters!

I guess you were completely logged out already. Can you try again?

@Julie Magerka Let me log you out from the dashboard and then you can log back in. I am not sure why but various issues have happened where you are logged in but "not completely". Let me go and you log back in, ok?

Yes, I am lucky in that area. Also, my great-grandmother was born in the US, and I would not have known other than from one sheet of paper that was written by a great-uncle or something like that. On a single sheet of paper, he had scribbled 5 generations of information and there was one mention of the date of marriage for her parents and the mention "Concord, USA". Well, there are several cities called Concord in the US! I was doubly lucky that one town was fairly close to the Canadian border AND someone had compiled the registry for that parish AND there was a copy at the genealogical library in Montreal. The information was very limited: the name of the groom, the bride and the date. Nothing else. And the spelling was wrong too. Since they didn't list their parents, I had to rely on that one sheet of paper, which had that information (written quite small, you can imagine). But since their parents were from Quebec, the rest was easy. In those years, some families were moving to the US for work.

Another workshop will soon start. Are you in? It will start on February 12th. This workshop is FREE for everyone, so spread the word. This workshop is meant to be for those with some experience with PaintShop Pro. If you are brand new to using the program, it will be a little more challenging, although we are here to help you if you still want to participate. Did you find this thread before the registration page? Here it is. (and yes, it is the same series of tutorials, but I'll try to find more supplies for the DIAMOND members)

I am very lucky that my ancestry is mostly French and French catholic churches were very detailed for records. Most church records that have not been destroyed in fires for example, have been microfilmed or compiled. I have one branch that goes back 15 generations, and around the time Champlain came to North America, around 1608. And then, some books have also ancestry further in Europe.

When I was in College, I got into genealogy and there was a big library of compiled parish records of most of the Quebec province, and some outside. I had notebooks of notes to transcribe. We didn't have computers back then, to access all the information that is now easily available.

The Campus is the perfect place to learn more about photo editing, various techniques, or PSP in general. This challenge will allow you to practice some of those techniques or use some tools. This time, the Tut/Tech Challenge will be to create the folded edge effect that was demonstrated during the last Master Class, Bordermania 2. That class is still available for free when you log in. This particular technique is illustrated at the 24th minute of the video so you can fast forward until that point. Show us what you learned.

I am glad to see those workshops being enjoyed by the participants, even though they are repeated. I guess the next workshop will be an easy one for you!

That is logic! What browser are you using? With all the tools available now, I am sure there is a way to use it to translate those pages.

So far so good. I am dedicating Wednesday mornings to work on this book. Depending on how late I sleep in, or what else might be on my schedule, I still manage to get a few hours each week. My process is to go through all the content that is gathered from various blog posts, tutorials, and classes, and make them all in the same style. Blog posts and classes have different formats (with intro, links, etc.) so I am making those a bit more streamlined, removing some extras, shortening sentences, etc. Today, I was working on chapter 5, which had a lot of screenshots for tools and dialog windows for various PSP versions. I plan to limit the screenshots to 2023 (or whatever will be the current version when it is published if there are significant changes). I reason that although there are some differences, if someone uses PSPX8, and the screenshot is from PSP2023, it should still be easy enough to follow. I can therefore remove a lot of "unnecessary" screenshots to save space! For those who have purchased the Tips and Tricks book, that was in a 6x9 format. I feel that would be a bit small for a scrapbooking book that would include lots of images so I plan on a full-size 8.5x11 format. I don't know if it is new (on Amazon) or if I had not noticed it before, but I think it would give a better result for the reader. And I will be able to have it IN COLORS! (that was not available at a reasonable price when the Tips and Tricks book was published).

Yes, once in a while, they wake up! 😉 When it happens, do you have the option to "Clear the window" (or some wording like that) at the bottom? I think that it sometimes, just remembers your last post and THINKS that you were not finished so it tries to help you. Check at the bottom of the box for a link to clear or delete.

Interestingly, just this weekend, we tried a new recipe for chicken breasts. It was soooooo easy (5 minutes prep). It is to cook those breasts in the slow cooker. NO LIQUID added, yet, it generated almost a cup of its own juice and the meat was so tender.

Often, browsers allow you to translate web pages that are in a different language. What if you right-click on the page, do you get the option to translate to English?
-
Do you do some cooking/baking and have special hacks or tools that are useful to you? Are those common or uncommon? Are they new or something handed down from the previous generation? Let's share (and if you have pics, even better!)

If you go to DigitalScrapbook.com, you can browse and find many templates. On the left, filter for TEMPLATES and LAYOUT and you will get many. Many designers have blogs and offer free templates. Lady22 is one popular designer for that. I am sure other members can point you to their favorite sites and blogs, but you would have a good start there.

@Royanne Hewko You are right, only in Yuma! I had never thought of vacuuming grass. At the most, I thought it might be artificial grass! @Susan Ewart I would have to check about the auto-preserve. It is there to save your work in case of a crash, so it would be up to you if you want to take the risk or if it is not really that big a deal for you. @Jen Brown That is such a nice photo! You will find that we have lots of animal and nature lovers so don't stop sharing such photos. @Corrie Kinkel I would never have guessed that flowers would be yellow for mahogany since the wood is so dark! We learn something every day! @Emerald Jay Oh yeah, I remember Wilma4ever. I think she is/was a PSP user too, right? You know, if you ever find a place to host your kits, you can share links in the Sharing section. I am glad you found those tutorials useful. That is what I try to do in every tutorial of every workshop (and classes too!) @Donna Sillia It is so fun when you have those drawings saved and scanned. That is something you can use in scrapbook projects and will be great conversation pieces later! @Mary SolaasThe change in the placement of the four photos makes it look like it was meant to be displayed like that. Great work! @Ann Seeber This is a great example of how the story is more important than a high-quality photo. I am glad you have to sub-par photos as they are so meaningful to show the cats. @Louyse Toupin Great colors to showcase those photos! @Julie MagerkaThe only change I might suggest on your project would be to wrap the text outside of the top paper layer as it seems unlikely that one would write over that top layer. @Shirley If you need to adjust the template/page for a different format, you can look at this article. Of course, it is easier to do it with the base template, but the basics might still be useful. @Harmony Birch So which seeds/plants are those in the Day 6 project? @Julian Adams Beautiful tribute!
-
@Julian Adams It is ok to alter templates and at this point, it means you are getting more comfortable with them. @Anja Pelzer That is a lot of work to catch up! Those mushroom photos are beautiful! And good work on customizing the projects. @kasany You have great shadows on the teddy bear, but I think they are missing from the photos. @Jen Brown I am glad you are getting back into PSP and that you find those tutorials helpful. @Emerald Jay That is a great kit you created. Is that a sharable kit? If so, do you have a link to it? If not, it is ok. @MoniqueN. Isn't it nice how the scallops are perfectly suited to the page? @bina greene That Greek kit is so colorful!!! Did you take those pictures? @Gerry Landreth I love that play on word, whether it is accurate or not!! @Donna Sillia You are doing a lot of manual work to customize your projects. The results are wonderful! @France Rivest C'est intéressant de voir que tu utilises des rubans à mesurer avec un sujet complètement différent du mien! @Royanne Hewko Is he actually vacuuming the grass??? @Julie Magerka If you get sick of a project, put it aside. We don't want you to be put off by any project! In the end, I don't know if you like it or not, but I think it looks great! @Sheila Hogg I think I would rather call those flowers "Blue Poppy" than that long Latin name! I am glad you enjoyed the workshop. @sharon thompson Oh, that is annoying when something like that happens. At least, when you redo it, it is faster because you know what you want to place where. At least, it saves that time. @Anne Lamp That is lunchtime for the robin's babies! @Carolyn Rye I think the ricrac ribbon is missing its shadow, or the shadow is moved off. Is that possible? @Susan Ewart Yes, the Blend modes can really expand your stash by offering so many additional options of colors. About the error you are getting, I have never seen that before. It seems related to the auto-preserve and not the actual saving of the file. Is that possible? I wonder if you can turn off the auto-preserve and re-enable it later? @Harmony Birch It is a good idea to focus on a single seed. It allows you to make closer shots! I know that not everyone has done their 7 projects, so keep them coming!!!

I remember that one year, when I had changed location for work, there was a nice landscape behind the building and I was considering taking a picture, regularly, throughout the year, from the same window. I think I did take a few, but not enough to complete a whole year.
-
I'll look into it but the last I was in touch with the developers and they said that it EyeCandy was not 100% compatible with PSP. Which version are you using?
-
@fiona cook That would be a great idea for a double page! Make it somewhat like a timeline and it would be great to see it through the seasons.
