Back to the Labs. Lab 11 Mod 3. Make a banner, 4-petal flower, Sun element. All 3. Doubled up the 4-petal flower to make one with 8 petals. I needed practice to make that delightful border, 2 words, paper above (and below if you want otherwise you can have a different pattern/color below), and middle to display what the layout is about. Although I had written the instructions to make that, I found that I had to add some instructions for how to select with the magic wand. More practice needed, so I may use this again. All elements and papers are mine; the picture is one I took at the Botanic Gardens and the tag is one from the brochure. The font is Better Caramel.3 points

I have to say that several improvements were noted including fixes for annoying bugs! I have not experienced the issue with selecting layers in the Layers palette using the patched version (and that was very annoying!)2 points

I am not sure there is a way to make a 10 or 20 pixels gap all the time, but here is how the Snap to Object works: https://www.loom.com/share/83a80a5fc2e24c6c89c396d9ce9979b7?sid=b5355fad-3410-440d-8f02-ff9cc9a7693d And I am also showing how you can add that 10-20 pixels gap if you want, although it will be a little more "manual" work.2 points

I installed the '23 patch but have yet to really test it out. '23 was giving me big problems with vectors so I look forward to re-trying that workshop. Meanwhile, a nice crew from a local cat rescue org. is helping with capturing my "friendly feral's" kittens and Mama also, to be TNR'd and returned. The kittens are shipped off to waiting foster homes to be socialized and adopted out. Here's one of the babies, just nabbed last night. ♥️2 points

This is such a beautiful layout, Ann! This proves that even without traveling, one can create great pages.2 points

I don't believe anyone will be disappointed, Corrie. I love to see your traveling layouts, showing different places and full of information.2 points

It's a killer deal right now though. I saw it for $39.99 CAD. That's like $3 American isnt it? hahahah, kidding, but it's really cheap.2 points

Here is a layout I created years ago using many freebies. I changed the photo to one from Unsplash/xavier-mouton-photographie. Freebies: Template (Lab7-09) - Flower Power Sample - Star Confetti Tube - Crochet Lace Edge Tube - Stitching I am not sure if all above mentioned are freebies, but they are definitely from you. Is this suitable, or are you looking for something more specific? P.S.: Interesting how looking at layouts created so long ago, we think... I could have changed this color, tweaked that... ?2 points

I'm in too and was already hoping there might be another Travel Tale Workshop coming to show more of my photos from my last trip to the States.2 points
-
I'm in. I have enjoyed doing a Travel Tale in the past and once I had exhausted my personal travels I decided to make fantasy travel pages. Last time I "went" to Botswana, in Southern Africa, because I'm a fan of the book series The No 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith which is set in that country and I always wanted to experience it IRL. I need to decide where I'm traveling to next but there's still time between now and Aug 21. Here is an example of my work:2 points

First of all, come and say HI if once you register for this workshop. We want to know who else will be there, on our side to inspire us. Remember that it is NOT a contest. Once the workshop is started, on August 21st, you can post your pages, and your stories (if it is too small to read, you can always copy and paste the text, if you want). Remember to resize your image to about 600 pixels before uploading it so it won't slow down the site when we have lots of your masterpieces. If you are using double pages, it might be better to split them in half and post both halves separately, otherwise they will be too small to really see. Now, pack your bag and grab your ticket. Take off will be soon. In case you see this post before it is announced elsewhere, congratulations, you are very observant. If you want to register, here is where you can reserve your seat.1 point

If you don't see the Haze Removal, you should be able to add it from the Customize menu. I am not sure why it would not appear in the first place.1 point
-
Workspaces and toolbars are different. You created a toolbar (apparently) and that can be added/removed through View > Customize > Toolbar The workspaces would be available under File > Workspace and there you should see the default Photography, Essential, and Complete for the Pro version plus the Sea-to-Sky for the Ultimate version, and whatever other workspace you would have created.1 point

Yes, I won it recently in the Campus (in June, I think) and just did the patch that Carole posted. This is my first version of 2023. I never bought it previously because there were so many bugs flying around it. *swat! ?1 point

Can it be that I do not have the Ultra version and I tried with a photo open and that didn't alter anything.1 point

This video is wonderful, thank you! I hope everybody has a look at it…4 minutes (or 3:15 if you have it on 1.2 speed!). ??1 point

I'm very happy with your big news! ? I have updated my pc and it only took 5 minutes, I suppose that is related to the pc you have and I always restart my computer after an update, it's a good rule of thumb. Now it's dinnertime over here, so later this evening I will check on the issues I had with 2023. If the really annoying issue with selecting layers in the layers palette is mended, that on its own would be great!1 point

I'm glad you said to wait. I thought nothing was happening and a minute or two later it popped up. It completed fairly quickly too. It did not prompt me to restart the computer, but I did anyways...just in case. It opens and and it's like greeting an old friend. Now it's time for bed, but I'm off tomorrow so I can play with it. I need some PSP time since I started learning the new Raw editing program. Slow going. Thanks again Carole. Your guidance is always appreciated. I couldnt do it without you.1 point

Once you download it, just execute the exe file (make sure PSP is closed) wherever it is, and it will take a while but will work in the background. For me, it took about 15 minutes. You have nothing else to do but let it do its work. I am not sure if it is standard, but when I installed it, it prompted me to reboot the computer. Was it part of the installation or just a coincidence? I don't know, but it is a possibility.1 point

Ann I hope it won't disappoint. I'm already collecting stuff to embellish my pages besides the photos.1 point

Here is another older one. Sometimes it isn't easy to find photos that match the colors of the previous images and that will fit the layout. See if this is ok for your purpose. Lots of your freebies/tutorials/scripts: Lace cut doily - Adhesive Tape - Letter Tiles - Acrylic Texture - Painted Wood - Chain Tube - Polka dot scallop ribbon - Wire Clip - Jewel - Custom Lined Paper - Wood Frame - Corner Brushes - Confetti Tubes - Ticket (tags) Photos from Pixabay1 point

Just signed in to say Hi. I saw the new workshop a few hours ago. Hope again, I will be able to participate and pull through the WS, because next week "Scripting Study Group" is beginning....May be I' m too optimistic and daring right now ?. Actually I try to do at least one little exercise every evening after work to get more practice again. By the way, Ann, you look smart with your hat ?!1 point

I used Cassel's WordSlats script for this one. I started with a black background and ran it three different times for each row of text. Copied one on top of the other and moved it to where I wanted the second line of text to be. Using the magic wand selection brush inside the new words, I switched to the original layer and hit delete. Once I hid the second layer, both lines were on one layer. Lather, rinse, repeat for the third row of text. Finally, all three were on one black layer with the words cut out. I used the magic wand again to choose the black and copied/pasted into selection the picture of the woman on the rock. The font is Hobo Std which is what Carole used on her free samples.1 point

Thought I would go for an old photo album look for this theme. The photo corners are by Sheila Reid from PixelScrappers. The main font is Tomatoes (free from Fontspace), but I used Lazy Ride (free from FPTFY) for the numbers. I've had the background for so many years that I can't recall where it came from. Given more time, I could have created my own paper with everything I've learned in the Campus. Also don't know where the party pic came from. I've been doing a much better job recording the origin information in the last several years, but the old ones are from who knows where.1 point
