Lab 10 Mod 9 had some elements and papers that were geared toward fiesta. I did the projects, but made the colors bright with the colors used at Christmas - red, green, gold, blue. So - no snow, but the manger scene from Unsplash by Walter Chavez; the church scene from Unsplash by Pavel Neznanov; the diamond paper background was one of the papers to be made; the interlocking pattern (I would call it a Greek key design) was another paper to be made; the triangular banner pieces were the other element to be made. I stitched them together with the stitch in picture tubes (made some labs ago); the brads I had made earlier and recolored them for this layout. The template used was provided in the module by Henri Jean (not really like it was portrayed, but, hey, we have to improvise don't we??? I made the journaling wavy strip solid - it was just outlined in the layout. I chose to make the 2 pictures in masks with the Clip-to-it script and colored the mats framing them with the gold glitter pattern made in another lab. Christmas is almost here and I am far behind where I usually am at this time in the season. I made some cards for relatives and some of them used the layouts in our last workshop.
Have enjoyed all the beautiful things you all have done and posted.
Oh, by the way, my great, great granddaughter was born on 12/13/22 - Adeline is her name and she is a beauty.

Actually, I once saw a meteor come through the atmosphere and it was a green light (not a UFO). I was coming home about 10pm from a birthday party with my granddaughter.

OK - I'll post the elf avatar of me!

Lynda, I like your Chicago Christmas Card. Reminds me of the times my cousin and I took a train ride into the "city" from Algonquin.

N is for Neverland. Font is Baghira; Peter Pan characters are mostly from NicePng but some are from ClipArt, the rest of the stuff (including the backgrounds for the Peter Pan characters) are mine.

Thank you, Marie-Claire. YEAH - it is hard to know what to do with it. I have several other ideas in my head about how to use it - changing it up somewhat? I'm not sure, but it bugs me when I can't figure out how to use something Carole gives us. I gues it is all about what she says: "Sometimes you need to get out of your comfort zone." Stay tuned for the next chapter! LOL

As Carole says, you have to get out of your comfort zone sometimes.

Well - I did do the diamond template that was a requirement of Lab 10 Mod 8 and while I wasn't real happy with it, I did accomplish it and am somewhat happy with it. I used my background paper I developed in another lab with fall leaves on it and decided that for my tastes it would fill each diamond; the background is a PSP gradient; the chain is a Cass picture tube; the word art is from Creative Fabrica. All in all, it's been a learning curve and I am glad I did it.

Wasn't real happy with Lab 10 Mod 8 as it really isn't my style, so I redid it.
-
Sue - love that lace wreath. Great job!
Back to the labs. Lab 10 Mod 8. Did not do the last requirement which is playing with diamonds (diamonds are a girl's best friend?) but I will do a separate layout with it as it has possibilities. This is playing with pieces of paper (I remember playing with paper dolls) and piecing a photo. I chose the Memphis Botanic Gardens again. All elements, papers are from my stash. The title font is Bluebell and the journaling is Arial.

Suzy - Glad you are back with us. The flu is really making the rounds and it does seem to be really bad this time. It has also messed up some of my family's Thanksgiving plans. Like you, I can only comment on this page as I'll lose what I've typed if I go back to the other pages.
Marie-Claire - that is an absolutely gorgeous card! #87496. I also like the brightly colored one in which you used several of Cass' scripts. Those are some of my favorite bright colors and I've always like marigolds.
-
Cindy - like your sparkly card - the cupcakes look good.
-
And now card #7. this is a birthday card for a little girl - still have some great granddaughters and am expecting a great great granddaughter in a couple of weeks; so this card should be good with subtle changes in the dress, etc. I made the hair brown because my Cinderellas have brown hair. The other elements are my own except the sparkly frame is Cass sparkly pattern.
-
And card 6 - great grandson made eagle!
-
And Card 5 (I've got a grandson to card for his birthday)
-
Working my way through. Card 4 - needed a card for my granddaughter.
-
Gold reminded me of the open pit gold mine in South Dakota. So here is a repeat of one done in 2021. "Gold" is in the journaling.
-
Sharla - that is a beautiful Christmas card - what Christmas is about foremost.
Susan - get in line!
Gerry - what are the requirements for the applicants?????
-
This has been so much fun. All the beautiful and fun designs - different interpretations of the templates presented.
I'm still on card 3. This is it. I decided to do Christmas as I need one that is not religious (my main card is religious). The snowmen are from Creative Fabrica; the snowflakes are mine; the font is Kingthings Wrote (probably from CF or maybe one that was given in one of the labs). The texture on the background is actually sand, so the diamonds on the top had to be a silver grey. Had fun with the font as you can see I like to use the pen tool which is now becoming easier to use.

On day 2. All the elements come from PS - Marisa Lerin, except the doily which I had made in a lab. The border is Cass glitter. Loved learning about selecting a portion of an element and then coloring it on a raster layer you put behind the element. Neat.
-
Here is my take. It isn't Christmas, but I need various Anniversary cards. All is my own except the circle which I got from PS - Marisa Lerin and which I modified all but the wording in the circle; I used Filter Forge for the gold rings.
-
Lots of wonderful stuff, Lynda, Ann, April, Kasany.
This is the next in my Chattanooga trip. All papers, elements are my own. Title font is Broadway, inner beveled, and the journaling is Arial.

Speaking of challenges! You know I've been working my way through the labs. Well I've got tons and tons of elements and papers and I started to organize them into folders like: papers, birds, ribbons and bows, etc., but the amount is overwhelming. I can't decide how to organize them so that I can find what I need for a layout quickly. Help. How do you all do it?????
-
Beautiful, Lynda. Your mom was a beautiful woman and you are too!
This lo is Lab 10 Mod 7. Requirements: layered text or object (I chose object and fixed the theater masks to be layered); make a negative tag with a saying (Who Dun It?); and make a clapperboard - done. All are my papers and elements. The theater masks were created from and changed for my purposes from a freebie from PS - Marissa Lerin. Forgot what the font I used was. My title just popped into my head and I knew it came from somewhere. Turns out that it is a quote from a soliliqy from a play by Shakespeare (I think it's Macbeth) and also was a title of a play by P. G. Wodehouse.
What are you working on (in December 2022)?
