  1. Here's another old one. I suppose I should probably use the time I'm spending looking for these pictures to work on my new laptop. lol

  2. Here's an old one from my gaming group (game now discontinued). I know, I know. I need to install PSP on my new laptop. Soon; I promise. If I remember correctly, I used the text cutter on the background, promoted it to a new layer, and moved the new layer above the black box.

  3. Being on the topic of cutout I gave my photo slipped in corners. I had to use a big photo because the flower is so tiny and I couldn't get near enough to get a closeup. The rangers in the parks are not happy when you step beside the boardwalk on the plants or on fallen branches etc. I used the freebie stamp from this weekend for the name of the park. The background s made of a textured layer with a gradient overlay and I used inked edges from Rachel Martin.

  4. Another one. A cutout wouldn't be a cutout without a sunset, in my opinion that is. I replicated the latest date stamp script. Keeping the template for future use. Mind you, it took me longer to create than it would to use the script.

  5. I tried the Liquify effect using the Warp Brush from the Q&A today. I started out making it nice and smooth but then went off track playing with the settings and using the different warp tools, holding them in place and moving while using the tools. It's a fun way to practice with the warp brush. This house was taken by a friend of mine (small image). It is the house I lived in when I was 12 yrs old. I think the picture was taken in 2022. the house faced the street sideways, and the front of the house faced a really nice creek. I'm going to try this on some other images.

  6. We are getting into the last 11 days of July. I have an entry for this challenge. Murphy is my daughter's dog, now getting old and a little blind, but still loved by all of us. The stitched letter is from an alphabet I created with one of the tutorials; the paint splashes were made with the paint brush and the bokeh bubbles; the banner I created in one of the workshops or labs; also the buttons were created in one of the labs or tutorials.

  7. I just read that there's been a major hack against Microsoft worldwide. Many computers compromised. Not sure if updates to MS11 are involved. Going back to previous version might be a help...

  8. Mary you must have a very big collection of elements/papers made with all the labs! You are now benefitting from all your hard work and make lovely layouts for whatever challenge comes up.

  9. I tried the "liquify" with the Warp Brush as well. It's easy and fun to "play" with. For some reason, I wanted to use a photo of fresh figs and Unsplash had lots. Credit to La Huerta Estsudio. The original and my version. Felt like a kid playing with finger paints! Have no idea how I would incorporate this style into a layout, but wanted to try it.

  11. No one will like hearing this but I don't think there is any excuse for what they did. People (I know personally) go back and forth with their dogs (and horses for shows) all the time. Even permanently. There are a set number to things that has to be done and probably some costs, but not extraordinary costs. I was taught by my parents, when you adopt a pet, it's for life. Trust me I get costs ($2500 for one night in emergency when unknown to us at the time, my cats heart valve failed - we had to let her go the next morning - I never had enough time with her) but these people copped out, either don't go or go where you can have pets. Perhaps the year in the shelter is why they look healthy and if we as a society would put more money and importance on animal welfare, then every shelter could have the facilities to have outdoor runs. Coincidentally, I just did a survey for the Humane Society where I live, about how to make animal welfare a priority for society as a whole. The choices in the survey ranged from helping people keep their pets in their home, to making it a political agenda, and several other options in between. It was a hard to pick a choice that would be the most impactful for the greater good of animal welfare.

  12. Bless you for rescuing these two girls. Since they are senior dogs and seem to be in good health, the previous owners must have loved them and taken good care of them. It may have been heartbreaking for them to have to take them to a shelter, but who knows what their reason was. They may have been going someplace where they could not have pets, or perhaps the cost of moving them was too much. It could have been worse, they could have just had them euthanized. At least the didn’t just dump them on the street somewhere.

  13. My object for the Letter O is my Oven Mitts which were a gift from a Facebook friend on the death of my husband. She knows me well. The font is Bauhaus 93 using Cassel's Cut Out script.

  15. @Corrie Kinkel Yes, overflowing collection as most of us have in all the workshops we have attended (as well as the labs) and the Master Classes and Q&A's where there are things we want to try. But, as you know, I love making background papers - even trying to make background papers like the ones I see on some of the layouts shown in the labs.

  16. That was quite a Q&A Session yesterday! I have yet to play with the liquid effect with the warp brush, but I did make an overlay with the liquify I did with the FF Texture. This is the result on a plain paper.

  17. I couldn't resist and have given this "liquify" effect a try. It really is like playing with finger paint but I'm not sure how to use it in a project, maybe as a background.

  18. @Susan Ewart and @Julie Magerka, Ladies it didn't take you long to get playing with this "liquify" option and the results are great. The initial photos are unrecognizing but the colors are. After the Q&A it always is after midnight for me, so playing had to wait, maybe this evening after dinner, because today I had a full schedule.

  19. I know Microsoft can be a pain in the ass, but have you looked into your computer settings for Windows or Microsoft updates? You can see there if there indeed was an update and sometimes you can reset to before the update. You then know at least where the problem might be or rule that out. So sorry for you and all the frustrations that come with it!

  20. No, because it has effected every program I have downloaded

  21. How awful. I know it's a pain in the neck, but have you tried resetting the program?

  22. When we were teenagers, my brother's best friend took me to see Peter, Paul, and Mary (yes, I'm that old). It was at an outdoor venue, and during the show, there was a "shooting star" right above the stage. He hoped it was a sign of things to come, but, alas, it wasn't to be. He has been happily married for eons now and has children and grandchildren. And, yes, they are still best friends.

  23. I have a major problem! I am unable to access everything that I have downloaded and saved in documents Paint Shop pro folder. It is all there, but not showing up in the files within every program for me to use, including all the extra content which comes with each upgrade. I have multiple backups on external hard drives. I deleted the folders, and replaced them with files from one of the external hard drives. Still no luck in accessing then from within PSP, to use. All was well last night, until I started up the computer this morning. Any suggestions would be gratefully received, on how to resolve this issue. PSP is working as normal otherwise.

  24. What a great oven mitts and a very nice gift from your friend. Mine are just dull red, but they do the job.

  26. So sweet Julie. You are an angel to give them the life and love they deserve. I can't believe people do that. I'm sure there would a long line of people who would like to talk to them. Thankfully with you they are in a much better place than they've ever been (considering the actions of their previous stewards). We had a Chihuahua/Boston Terrier mix. She thought she was a pit bull and used to chase the cows and even bears, she was a girl with attitude.

  27. Here's one I did to introduce my two new pooches who arrived July 1. I had to refresh my memory on how to do the cutout. The only thing I made myself is the frames. "The Girls" are older and very well-behaved. They had been in a shelter for a year and had not set foot on real grass during that time. They were surrendered to the shelter b/c their family moved to the US! I'd like to have a word with those people! 😒 The wee brown one weighs just barely six pounds! They are apparently sister Chihuahuas. My boy Max is adjusting to the girl power!

  29. On the subject of "Liquify". I opened a picture in Filter Forge 11 and downloaded a filter "Liquify" from their website and worked with it (choosing the initial color of the filter) and came up with this.

  30. I had to look up what sand dollars are because I never heard of them. I found it are the skeletons of sea urchins that have a flat skeleton. I love what your mom has done with them for X-mas.

  31. Created in PSP. July Tut/Tech challenge, cutout title. Macro shot of one of the tiniest of flowers. Unfortunately I don't know what it is. Over the years so many Medeteranean plants have been introduced into Cornwall, that the native plants have been chocked out, due to it's very mild climate. The layout is mine. I also did both techniques demonstrated in the tutorial. The stitching is a stitch brush I created a long time ago, from which masterclass or creative scrap, I have forgotten.

  32. O is for Ornaments. My father loved looking for sand dollars whenever he was on a beach. In 1981 and 1982, they spent a couple weeks each year at Hilton Head Island. He collected a lot of sand dollars, brought them to bleach them. After that he painted them white. Mom arranged with the art teacher to paint Christmas items on them. On the back she noted the year and the place collected. He found a whole lot more the 2nd year than the 1st year. Mom added a red ribbon on them for hanging on the tree. For quite a few years, they adorned our Christmas tree. Mom also gave quite a few away to family and a few friends. A couple years ago I was going thru the boxes of Christmas stuff that had been on shelves in the basement for years since I had no idea what was in them. Most had been packed away by Mom. I found a box that was all the sand dollar ornaments. I no longer put up a full size tree but I bought a 3 foot pre-lit tree to sit on my marble table and decorated it with these ornaments. I leave the ornaments on it when I put it away each year. I gave an ornament to the children of my cousins and still have plenty for me. I love looking at it and it gives me comfort as I feel Mom and Dad with me during the hardest month of the year for me.

  33. For the letter O I didn't have to think long and hard to come up with something. Around X-mas our son brought us this oil lamp for the garden table and I made a photo to show him the lamp when burning. Put that photo on my flashcard and job done. I wish all my ideas were so easy to execute 🤔

  34. I wanted to make this challenge with Affinity but couldn't figure out how to make a stitched shape(alpha) so I made my layout with PSP. Linda Rexford explained how I could do this and I have given that a try. A big thanks to Linda and it is really simple, but it works differently. See Linda's explanation above. I have given the stitching a noise, bevel and shadow but didn'r go further and give the bottom layer a bevel as well. For me it was just about getting the stitching done.

  35. That is my problem, I have lost everything from all of my downloaded programs. I have just finished putting everything back into 2022. By going through every folder in the file location, and save to: directing it to documents corel folder also deleting cloud one drive, which was its default. I have it installed but never use it. Something must have happened over night. Like a windows update or Microsoft update. At least 2022 is back to normal, well so it appears to be. I'll plod on through the other program, as and when I have time. So frustrating.
