  1. I thought I would have a little fun with this theme. It started out as a black on white illustration by Henn Kim. The font is Sleepy Fat Cat. (It's a duo with one being dingbats of cats and I think I got it from DaFont.)

  3. The Picture Tube Fireworks from Carole has been useful for me to illustrate memories of a picnic concert we went to in the summer last year, in the grounds of Highclere castle, Newbury, Berkshire. The evening ended up with a fireworks display so I have used my photos of a firework and the picnic. The picture tube was easy to use around the edge and I also added one singly for a splash. To extend the main fireworks image and for a smokey effect I used Cassel's script cass-Dispersion. Thankfully the instructions for use appear in both the script description as well as during the various stages of application. Maybe I could have used a mask as an alternative? For the main picnic photo I used Cassel's cass-curved photo script. Here though I found I couldn't get it to work on the photo layer within my main canvas but it did work by treating it as a separate image and pasting it into the canvas.

  4. This is my result for the skech challenge. All my photos are in landscape, so I followed Corrie's idea and rotated everything. These pictures are from 2005. I went to get Gizmo in a shelter. He was then 4 months old. He turned 11 years old. Made papers with the colors from the photos and a texture Fonts : Embossing Tape 1 BRK + Ambrogio

  5. OK - still working on 2022's Alphabet Challenge. Finished R is for Route 66. Such a long road and so many interesting places to see and take pictures of. I tried to take representative pictures of the places within the states covered, but I didn't have pictures of Illinois (on Route 66) although I've been over that road many times, and I didn't have pictures of the road in California since I've never been to Santa Monica (although I've been to Barstow - but no pictures). Anyway - this is my take on the route.

  7. Hi everyone. Happy New Year! There are so many projects on display but I don't have a new one for January to show. Corrie in the Forum gave me the idea though so I am also using the freebie YearInReview to represent a sort of graphic annual expression of achievements last year from a couple of the Campus workshops that I attended: Masks, Templates. The actual month names are not particularly relevant to the projects but they still represent the year. Thank you Carole for your tuition and for the freebie/s.

  9. On the way home from The Ole Country Store we stopped at Messick's Farm Market. "Virginia is for lovers" is Virginia's slogan so you find these Love signs in lots of places. Messicks decorates theirs for the season. Of course, the quote at the top of the layout is a bit outdated but I like it and the sleep part fits me perfectly. I extracted the tree and train from the photo.

  10. Carole, thanks for your comment and a fine template which I'm going to use with my fractals, not with some photos taken It's only my idea now.

  11. I have tried to make a side paper. Mireille showed to do that with the pen tool. I still find it a bit difficult to work with the nodes, but I am satisfied with the result. I also used the VectorTube script and Carole's TattingLace08 tube

  12. Fiona, this is wonderful. Thank you for explaining the techniques too. I tried the curved photo script with not great results and then forgot to go back to figure it out. I'll try it as a separate image first. I am wow'd by the dispersion script. I had often looked at that script but didnt know how I could use it. What you have done with it is beautiful and really adds depth to the fireworks.

  13. What are you doing this week? Do you set resolutions on January 1st? Do you have specific plans for the year? Let's chat.

  14. I should probably expand on my resolutions. I make them, but I dont care if I keep them. Mostly they are a mental list in my head of what I want to do going forward from any given time. You could say I make resolutions all year long. Life is fluid and always changing and so I stay flexible for the unexpected things in life that take me in another direction. Which is what the bootcamp did for me.

  16. I have no resolutions for this year! I never make them anymore because it turned out useless. But now I'm almost finished with rehab training after my hipreplacement, I plan to visit my daughter and her family a little later in the year. They recently moved from Washington State to California, work related. So a whole new area to see, although at the moment it isn't fantastic there with all the bad weather, luckily their new house is on higher ground. Now I'm able to go for longer walks I hope to take new photos of flowers as if I haven't yet enough And use them in many projects and challenges. I have a whole list of Labs and Elements I want to explore besides Masterclasses to watch. It always seems I do not have time enough, my normal social live must continue and last but not least I want to spend time with my husband. As we are not that young anymore you never know how long that will last. For this week: we celebrate my hubbies birthday on friday and because it is possible again there will be visitors friday and in the weekend; so that means shopping, cleaning, cooking etc.

  17. Hey, Cassel, I read your newsletter just now, and I wanted to share with you something I learned from Genealogy classes I took from the Mormons in Fort Wayne, Indiana, their second genealogy capitol. As you scan those photos to 1200 dpi, do NOT save to .jpg or .png. Save to .tif. It is widely regarded as the only photo format which will survive many, many decades into the future because of how it is compressed. Or at least think about it. Suzy

  18. My take on this sketch challenge. As we don't have winter overhere in the Netherlands at the moment, it is way to warm for the time of the year, I started to dream about flowers. I used some papers about vintage gardening which I have for a long time and I don't remember where I got them from. My photo was in portret format so I rotated the sketch

  20. I think you did a great job. Often, if you make fewer waves, or narrower, it makes it look "simpler".
