There are so many things I like in Affinity, and one of them is how we can centralize an image using the Green and Red Lines. I learned two techniques with Text (Text Warp and Text on a Circle) from two different channels that popped up on YouTube. I watch many videos that have nothing to do with Scrapbooking, PSP, PSE, or Affinity, and I never searched for anything of the kind on YouTube. Still, the algorithm knows and keeps suggesting those videos, and that it's good. ๐ Text Warp: I like very much the effect. It was not on the video, but I added some bevel and shadow. I would have liked to have the Bevel and Shadow shown more in the P and R characters, but I donโt know (yet) how to do it. So, first the original pepper image and then the warped text. Expand So cool! 2 1
Julie Magerka Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) I am so grateful when I can find inspiration for layouts in the artistic work of others, such as their layouts or their photos. These pix come from a FB page called "Chasing Yesterday" by a woman in Saskatchewan who takes photos of old abandoned buildings in her province. Her images resonate with me, and remind me of Sue Thomas's excellent work in capturing her surroundings and sharing them with us. I took two of them to use here. Old schoolhouses are important to me b/c I've been working for two years documenting the history of one-room schoolhouses in two townships where I grew up, including histories and old class photos. It became a much bigger project than I expected and is taking longer than I imagined. The photographer's name is Susan Smith Brazill. Edited February 8 by Julie Magerka 7

That way the information doesn't get lost in these threads in the future. Maybe make a thread for "examples" using Affinity. I haven't played with it lately, actually have been working in PSP on a project I'm way behind on. I haven't even gotten around to playing with text so I'm glad you posted what can be done. I do need to try the text on a path and reverse text. I could never get it to work right in PSP. User error I'm sure. Expand Thank you, Rene, for the suggestion. I have to look up this Affinity Forum. I never used it, as I probably won't have the program, and I don't think there will be a great offerโat least not soon... maybe around Black Friday. 1

These are fabulous and I absolutely love the pepper, so creative. Neat to see what other programs strengths are. I have been lucky with reverse text in PSP, in that it works for me, still need the instructions sometimes though. Have you had a chance to do some layouts in one program and then took it into another program to use an effect (assuming you'd have to convert to psd first) because it's easier or it's an effect the one program doesn't have? I wonder how hard or easy it is, or is it a hassle? You are trilingual in 3 (or more?) programs, that's so impressive. Expand "You are trilingual in 3 (or more?) programs, that's so impressive." ..... This is a stretch of reality.๐ Don't be impressed because I watched a few videos and replicated the technique. I am only starting to learn the basis of PSE and Affinity. Even after all these years, I am still learning PSP. Imagine how long it'll take to learn about the other apps. The only layouts I created in PSE and Affinity were the ones I posted here, which were very basic. I usually take too long to make a layout I like, choosing papers, templates, etc. I want to focus on learning now, as my Affinity Trial version will eventually run out. I'm running against the clock. ๐ 3 1

A family member asked me if I could create a logo for a tour he was participating in, and I had no idea how. So, I searched the Internet and found a site that still exists. There are more steps in PSP, which is why I found it much easier in Affinity: a few clicks, and you're done. 3
