I found out that they can be used in Affinity and it is such an easy install. Much easier than the PSP install. If you want to test it out, just drag and drop the file on to the Affinity workspace. I actually went through my files to find the abr files and installed some of them already. Just didn't mention since they aren't being mentioned in boot camp right now. I have to say there are some features of Affinity that I really do like because they are easier than PSP but there are others that PSP does much better. For me the perfect program would have the best of both programs! 6 1
Sharla Posted January 17 Posted January 17 I'm a bit behind but will try catch up. It feels strange working in Affinity but okay. Here is my sandwich, I've kept it simple just to learn the techniques. 7 2

Saara Posted January 17 Posted January 17 My homework for Project 2. Once again I've used one of my Affinity Photo creations instead of a photo. I think photo composites will remain my favourite thing to do, but I'm really enjoying creating these scrapbook pages. It's quite therapeutic. 😊 4 11

Rene Marker Posted January 17 Posted January 17 I used a kit by a designer that's been retired for over 10 years. I liked the trick with the selection to copy/paste. Now if only the color picker would work. Gonna have to get it figured out. Think I have an idea why but wanted to get this layout done before I play around with it. 5 9

Expand Ann I have that brushes folder too and you can import abr. brushes in PSP as usual. Go to file > import > custom brush and in the dialog window click open and navigate to the abr file you want to import. It will then appear in the left pane of the window; select it click add or add all and it appears in the right panel. Click ok and it is in your brushes drop down list ready to use. I'm not 100% sure but I have kept a zip file of those brushes and when I go to where I have affinity on my computer, unzip them and place them there it is in the brushes folder, at least that worked yesterday with some other abr brushes I have, maybe I was lucky 🙃 I see now that Rene has already explained it and way better formulated than I did. Go with that color picker to the area with the color you want and you will see the little circle next to that picker chance color, but you have to click on that circle before you can apply it. I find it difficult to get the color I want on to use because that picker goes to the pixel you want and I can't see that , so it is a guess but there probably is a setting that will give how many pixels you want the picker to use. I'm planning to search for it tomorrow, now it is almost bed time for me. 1

I was trying to use it the same way you do in PSP. Once I figured that out, it worked fine. A little look at the help file was all it took for me to figure it out. 5
Corrie Kinkel Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Project 2 and I used a photo I took a couple of days ago from my hortensia's with hoarfrost after a cold night. All the papers and elements are from different "winter" themed kits from Jessica Dunn and the title font is Winter Vibes (probably a freebie by Creative Fabrica). The other font is Lucinda Handwriting. I'm getting a bit more at ease with Affinity now but there will be so more to explore and learn. Some things are easier then in PSP like importing brushes and copy/paste to get a selection from a paper, as in this lesson. Setting the same shadows for multiple layers is great too, but I miss the revers shadow! I think I know how to do it and will try that tomorrow. Carole I have a question: When setting a shadow in the outer shadow box there is at the bottom a small box that reads "Fill knocks out shadow" which I think is checked by default. What does that mean and should it be checked or not and why? 4 8

David Belton Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Project 2. I really like the place tool. It saves a few steps. The critters obviously weren't there when I took the photo. They were cut out of other photos. I find it easier to get good cutouts in Affinity compared to PSP. 3 9
Rene Marker Posted January 17 Posted January 17 @Corrie Kinkel You can do a reverse shadow. Just change the angle of the shadow. 160 looks about the same. You can enter the number of degrees you want since just moving it goes in increments of 15. 1 1
