Cassel Posted January 18 Posted January 18 The Campus is the perfect place to learn more about photo editing, various techniques, or PSP in general. This challenge will allow you to practice some of those techniques or use some tools. This time, the Tut/Tech Challenge will be to create a rectangular or square frame out of lace, and you will need to miter those corners. Check this blog article for detailed instructions.
Sue Thomas Posted January 19 Posted January 19 (edited) I used a brush to created the feathery lace like frame. I could have used the mitred corner script, instead I did it myself for practise. The label and tag are my own, all I had to do was to add text, resize and colourize to match the layout. I embrace every season in Saskatchewan, but even more so winter. Good to see your work again here. 😊 1

At least, this is how I feel when I travel. Absolutely! Even though I love being around my little girls and other members of the family, I miss my bed, but more importantly I miss the solitude and quiet time with nature. 2 2

At least it's a sunny, blue sky day. It's been between plus 10 and plus 13c here in the UK, mind you the sun doesn't make much of an appearance like on the prairies. Which makes all the difference, even when it's 30c below, with a blanket of snow down insulating next year's plants. 5
Donna Sillia Posted January 19 Posted January 19 (edited) We spent Christmas with my daughter and son in law in the Outer Banks. Beth and I toured around the lighthouse in Cape Hatteras. The photo is one that Beth took. The lace is from a SS lace brush 003 that I colored, beveled and added drop shadow. The background is one that I love, reminded me of pebbles on a beach and is from Adobe Elements. I have to admit that the lace wasn't very complicated and did not really need mitering. I will be experimenting with mitering later. I've been very lazy lately in working in PSP. Edited January 19 by Donna Sillia add info 5 4
Daniel Hess Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Note...above I actually did start with a strip of lace and manually (no script...I don't even have that one) do the mitering to make the frame. I goofed it up somehow with that striped section on the left...I probably needed to resize a bit smaller and adjust position with the pick tool on the photo. The photo is my niece Kaitlyn at her wedding (which I attended in Iowa) and her hubby Caleb. The starting lace strip is "ps_janet-kemp_114158_a-mothers-love-cream-lace_pu.png" and I think I got it out of a wedding kit. I could add a background, merge, and save it as a jpeg for here but there are so many little intricate "holes" I don't think many would be able to extract it perfectly from the smaller file. 1
Anne Lamp Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Even with the tut. I had a heck of a time getting this almost right. I think it was because of to complicated lace. OH well. 1 5

At least you will be able to get to see the sun again when you are back. We pretty much have constantly clouds, fog and rain. It is even on the news because we have such a long period of this weather with temperatures around -1 to +4. We have solar panels on the roof and their yield is the lowest we have had since we installed them 7 years ago; at he moment it is almost nothing at all. Have a good trip back and I'll wait for more of your gorgeous winter photos. 2 1

As far as star gazing or shooting the moon, it has been totally out of the question. Never mind, being around my family has more than made up for the inclement weather. 3

I'm wondering because I have Elements 12 (2013 I think), is it very different than the new one (other than the AI advances) for scrapbooking. I found it when I was getting books together for donation. Wondered if it's worth loading and trying. 1

I didn't even notice until you pointed it out. If you saved it as a pspimage file, you can easily fix it. 3

One thing that PSE 2025 has that I like is the access to free Adobe Stock photos, backgrounds and frames. I was able to load a lot of text styles and patterns from my Adobe PS 5. Also, I loaded a lot of my plugins, including Filter Forge. I have been watching and doing some tutorials of which there are a lot on YouTube. I still prefer PSP except for the text styles. The only reason that I invested In PSE 2025 is that I had a $50 coupon on Dell. 2 1

I didn't but had saved the frame...and still had the photo so was an easy thing to put back together. Here is the "fixed" version. I added a darker layer for contrast behind the frame. 6

My house is in Fahrenheit and my thermometers too! I should jump to using Celsius, only because it's easier to spell. 2
Susan Ewart Posted January 21 Posted January 21 (edited) Here's my try at it. I did find myself on the wrong layer and erasing, but thankfully I could just undo and switch to the right one. I found some elements from Jessica Dunn and I used the Vector Tube script (had to resort to notes, forgot I had to convert the text vector to a path first). The font is called Arima and I suspect it is a google font that came with my font viewer. All but two of these long bead crochet pieces are unfinished. I sold all my silversmithing tools and supplies so I can no longer fabricate the end caps and clasps. Now they are just shiny things taking up space that I dont know what to do with. Oh, and I used one of the cass crochet tubes. Edited January 21 by Susan Ewart wrong use of word, Thank you Ann. 3 6
