I have considered doing a class on making fonts, but it would involve a paid program so I am not sure how well-received that would be (I got some complaints when I did classes on Filter Forge). On the other hand, making an alpha is so much simpler and very accessible to all. Maybe that can be another class!?

Is there a Master Class on Filter Forge? I have the basic program but never use it for lack of practice. It is the free version so I don't understand complaints....

I love this layout, Ann. I would NEVER be able to do something this intricate within the time frame I need for my daily pic. Well, I think the game will be ending soon so I'll be able to spend my time doing master classes, labs, etc.

Oh, dear, sorry to hear the game may be ending, though, I imagine, for you, it may be like me when the drive-in closes for the winter. I always feel a welcome relief from the ongoing pressure to create during the season.

I played with it tonight. First photo when I clicked "done", I had the 3 layers (original, mask and ai background) on my workspace. I then closed the image since it was just a test.

I opened another image, this time of my dog. Since there was no person I had to use the brush to make the mask. Got that done then selected a background. When I clicked "done", all I had on my workspace was my original photo. Since this was another test, I just closed the program.

I don't know if this is the same as what Ann had, but I thought I'd let you know.

Exactly, Rene! That's how it behaved for me, also. Quite frustrating, especially since the photo I chose was very fiddly to block out the background. Aarrgghh! ?

  4. I forgot to mention I need some input from @CaroleCassel about that tool. The first time I used it, no problem, but subsequent usages refused to present the finished product and reverted to the original photo. I saved everything and rebooted PSP AND my computer and then it worked properly, at first. Then it misbehaved again, second time around. After another re-booting spree, it seems to have settled down. Are there bugs in this tool, or what?

the tricky part was changing the dimensions from 3600 x 3600 to 3000 x 2000. Facebook changed how it displays pics a while ago so if you don't change it, FB adds its own borders.

Michele, so if we create on 3600 wide x 2400 long or 5400 wide x 3600 long, it should fit Facebook's parameters? (The only math I could do reliably is algebra! ?)

  6. Unlike Michele, this took me two whole days! Deb sent this photo of Magic and her friend having a tea party and I couldn't resist using Janet Kemp's Garden/Tea Party Kit. Even the title is  word art from that kit. I spent too much time changing the background on the photo. (Learning as I go here, this subject proved to be too detailed for an easy background change. I used part of a photo from my previous home that had a big lawn for the background.) This is probably more "scrapbooky" than my usual layouts but it seemed to call for flourishes! ?

And one more for my book. This one is of the village and the surroundings where my daughter lives with the places we visited  there like Stanford University! I kept this page in line with the others qua style and font to get a somewhat cohesive look for my book.

Mary Solaas, thank you for the shield which I adapted for the road where I was. It made this page come together a bit quicker. I have one more to do and then I can assemble the book with all the individual photos and send it to the printer.

So interesting, Corrie! My granddaughter lives just north of Stanford in Palo Alto. I think this area is termed Silicon Valley? All the big software houses are there. Her husband is a senior software engineer for Meta/Facebook.

This is really cool.  I would have thought that's how it was, the only 'tell' was a piece of blue above the yellow flower.  I wouldnt even know how to go about using this tool.  Hopefully when I grow up I'll be as brave as you.  (I'm not sure I'll ever grow up though ?)

I started by clicking on the tutorial on the bottom left from the center collection on my Edit workspace. It walked me through it. It turned out to be a combo of using the edit selection tool and then just choosing a background photo. I used one of PSPs built in suggested beach photos but now I'm on a hunt for suitable background for my icky bird photos that show mostly my parking lot. I'll display something once I'm happy with it.

  9. I posted this  under its own topic but in case you missed it, here it is, also. I was reviewing the Back Off Master Class when I realized with the newer versions of PSP we have Artificial Intelligence built in that promises to change backgrounds easily. I tried it with a photo of my grandson, Brad, and his girlfriend, Livia. The original background was quite dark and I replaced it with a beach scene offered by my PSP 2023 Ultimate. Here is the original and the digitally changed version.

  11. Still playing with Carole's hanging photos, this time with the grid background. I ended up with multiple layers of hanging picture tube vines. This is still Aspyn Dionne, from my last layouts. I finally used all the photos that her mother, Kristan, posted. This turned into a double page, or actually, two coordinated pages. This layout only used 6 photos each and I had 12 photos.

The problem is likely that when you resize, the box for "Resize all layers" is unchecked, so the design resizes but the canvas does not follow. Have a look and see if it is checked or not.

Mary, here's how to fix that...

I love the font you used with this!  Very cohesive. It looks like all you did was put that same pen to a ruler to make those frames.

Thanks for the kind words, Suzy. The two fonts on top are: Bahnschrift Semi and Banana Pancakes with an Inner Bevel. The bottom is Corlita Sans and I applied a cutout. They are all in my Nexus Font handler so I don't know where they came from.

I think it would simply be a matter of layering straight lines in different colors and adjusting the opacity. It might be a bit tedious to do but it is not hard. Maybe a tutorial?

A tutorial would be great! Looking forward to it.

  15. Interestingly, I was doing my weekly movie theater work and came across this logo for our new Disney movie, Elemental. The font reminds me of Carole's new frames. I'd to know how to she created this effect. I'm posting a snipped so you'll see what I'm talking about...

  16. Granddaughter Jackie and hubby Corey are celebrating their Second Anniversary. I had 16 photos to place and thank goodness for Carole's Hanging Photos 2 Script! The succulents are for Corey and the animals are for zookeeper Jackie, found in the Animal Kingdom kit; the LOVE word art and snippets are from Melo Vrijhoff on Pixelscrappers. The title font is Simple Pen Solid and the frame is labeled BMU-Eve from Scrap Girls and the striped background paper is from a wedding kit by Sahin Designs.

canadian wildland fire and intense smoke level in some U.S. cities

Here on the East Coast of the USA it was intensely smoky early last week, the worst being Wednesday. Thankfully, it is now cleared up. Here were my shots of the sun Wednesay at Dawn and at Noon. (Never was able to shoot the sun without an eclipse before!) I felt like I was transported to the film Dune!

I am embarrassed to say how many times I tried to create the paper as shown in Lab 13, Mod 6. I get the weirdest configuration when I flood fill with the image I have. I have checked and re-checked over and over the directions in the video and this is still what I get. I know it's me, but I can't figure out what precisely it is. punchedpaper.thumb.JPG.6146d3f62007341d094c48dd503a7254.JPGs!

After looking at the Notebook PDF I would suggest you crop your original really small, right down to the edge of the black pattern, as shown on the top of this page. Your background is too large at this point. Using the smaller version as fill I think it will look like the demo.

This is my next intro page and it is about the weekend trip we took to Arizona because my son in law wanted to go to the Overland Expo! He went there for one and a half days and had the time of his life. My oldest granddaughter went with her dad for the first 1/2 day while the rest of us (my daughter, youngest granddaughter and I) visited the Museum of North Arizona that has an amazing art collection of the Hopi's, Navaho's, Apaches and other tribes. En route from the airport in Phoenix to Flagstaff we also visited Montezuma Castle, a big pueblo build inside a cave. The second day, son in law again to the Expo and the rest to the Grand Canyon, which is hardly to describe, spectacular!!!! The third day on our way back to Phoenix we visited Sedona and the Red Rocks, which were also very, very beautiful. Near Phoenix the highway is through the desert, another new experience for me. It were 3 days packed with so many new adventures and of course many photos to remember it all.

This page took me a lot of time to do with all the tiny details. The font is Perfectly Vintage and photos are mine except the flyer of the Expo which I found on Google.

Wow, spectacular, Corrie! Beautiful layout and I've added this to my bucket list. I'd love to see the Native American exhibits you mention and Sedona with the Red Rocks. I did Google the Overland Expo in Tuscon and it looks great for RV'ers. Here's the link - Overland Expo West
