  1. I installed the '23 patch but have yet to really test it out. '23 was giving me big problems with vectors so I look forward to re-trying that workshop.  Meanwhile, a nice crew from  a local cat rescue org. is helping with capturing my "friendly feral's" kittens and Mama also, to be TNR'd and returned. The kittens are shipped off to waiting foster homes to be socialized and adopted out. Here's one of the babies, just nabbed last night. ♥️

  2. Here's my layout with a tooth theme. My daughter needed braces and this was her journey. The font is Britannica Bold, the template from Miss Fish with several cass-tooth decorations.

    Here is the text:

My daughter, Laurey, was born with a severe overbite and a significant gap between her front teeth. Finally, at age 14 she was ready for braces, though there are no photos showing them as she always pulled her lips down and refused to smile. They came off for her junior year of high school when she was 16 and she was delighted, as you can see from her school picture. Love her smile!

I'm in too and was already hoping there might be another Travel Tale Workshop coming to show more of my photos from my last trip to the States.

Corrie: I've been looking forward to seeing your trip!

  4. I'm in. I have enjoyed doing a Travel Tale in the past and once I had exhausted my personal travels I decided to make fantasy travel pages. Last time I "went" to Botswana, in Southern Africa, because I'm a fan of the book series The No 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith which is set in that country and I always wanted to experience it IRL. I need to decide where I'm traveling to next but there's still time between now and Aug 21.

Here is an example of my work:

Is Windows Notepad more or less the same as Notepad ++?

I was wondering if I am supposed to overwrite my Windows Notepad, or if I’m supposed to have a secondary text editor? Do you keep both?

Suzy, Back in the day when I was coding webpages I was steered to the free Note Tab Light, which has the lines numbered. Even in Windows Notepad, I can start a new file each time so no need to "overwrite" anything. But Note Tab is better for coding.

I did NOT fall off the face of the earth; it only felt that way. There was an unexpected loss of someone very close, and it knocked me sideways. Life has a funny way of skewering your plans. I was all set for the Vector Workshop, then BAM!

I tried to watch a couple of videos and tried a few shapes, but my concentration was obliterated. But I did check in to see some of the posts that have appeared. So impressive. I have learned a bit more about working with those nodes, but I have to start now from Square 2. I think I have Square (Lesson) 1 under control. I need to get back in the game!

Julie, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss; doubly because I had a similar situation that kept me frozen on Lesson 1 also. Perhaps, together , we can explore those pesky nodes and enjoy the rest of the lessons in our own time. Take care. ?

  7. Happy August! Here is my August Wild Cat Calendar for 2023. The layout is from a template shared by Cassel last fall. The photo of the leopard is by a photographer from Sri Lanka named Andreas Hemb. The photo frame and the title strip are enhanced by the Effects/Sculpture with a leopard pattern. The chipboard camera art and label is from a mega kit called Cambodia by Marisa Lerin. The bottom title font is Yellow Fresh and the Say No brad was created from a brad template from Pixelscrappers. The calendar grid and lines for notes were treated to a gold gradient and I filled the background with a silver gradient. I also posted this full size in our Facebook files.

I'm rubbing my eyes looking for butterflies on Susan's layout. All I can find are birds.... ??? (Or did Google Translate goof up? lol)

This is the result after I hide the original and put together all the pieces!

Hi Mary. Such a cute Dino! Do you mean you do a Copy Special/Copy Merged? I do that all the time with a pspimage if I want to put it together with a layout.

I was working on this about a week ago (before the Vector Workshop) as an album cover for contests we hold in my group. After the workshop, I'll be able to do so much more! The font is Digital Tech, free from dafont. The "winner" is my avatar from the game.

Beautiful, Michele! I especially like the podium you created with, I assume, vectors. This layout is the winner!

I have a low threshold for things not working right the first time.  ISN'T THERE A SCRIPT FOR THIS?  Or some preset pen tool shapes in the store?

LOL I seem to have the same affliction! Still trying to gear up to finish Lesson 2. ?

My second picture, below, is very small because I had to keep reducing the size to get this program to accept it. I wonder why, most of the other pictures in the forum are much larger.

I had that problem in the past, James, and found that increasing the JPG compression did the trick. Carole had told me to use 22 but that seems to be best for Facebook or printing. For here, I had to increase it to 72 dpi.

I am still having problems with Lesson 2. I follow all the  steps from the video, get the rounded corners on the rectangle, click on apply, then activate the pen tool. make sure I am in edit mode, if not I click on it,  and make sure I have both of my object layers selected then  right click - convert to path. Still in edit mode I add a new node, but then I cannot see where I can extend that  node. It does not give me that small icon that looks like the move tool. It shows up on the other nodes where I rounded the corners. Now sometimes I get a new layer titled  New Path. Somehow I must be missing something.

Adding to above message on 7-21-23:

I am thinking of giving up on the vectors. After several days and many hours re-watching the video and re-reading the Guide Book,  I still cannot manage to extend that node on the side of the rectangle to create a new shape. I must be doing something wrong. When I add a new node I do not get the arms to extend it. I can think of several nice shapes I could make, but I guess if I cannot finish Lesson 2,  I probably will have a hard time with the other lessons. Also, every time I open a new rectangle I have to set the horizontal and vertical to 0.00. it has been frustrating. Carole you mentioned you set those to default as there is a glitch in PSP 23. How would I set these to default? It sure would save time so that I do not have to do it manually each time after  I rounded the corners of the rectangle.

Anita, I am in the exact same boat as you. Still stuck on Lesson 2. I gave up several days ago and focused on other things. I think my brain needs a reset. I started out by going back to PSP2022 because '23 was very buggy with layers. I never had  software problems with '22 so my vector woes must be me, not Corel, though this is the first workout it's getting with vectors, so we'll see. I intend to try a leaf or two and see what happens....

In addition to storm cleanup, a substation shorted out because of a snake

Odd things here, also. After a power outage, all the breakers for just the washer/dryer in all the condo units (about 50) failed. The management sent out an email explaining how to "fix" it and I had to laugh at how many had no idea how to handle a breaker! (Chatted with the management later in the day when he came around to see if everyone was sorted out)
