Day 3
Many cottages in Central Otago are made from schist, a stone quarried in the area over the years.
Early settlers and miners used schist to build their homes.
Central Otago is renowned for gold mining and was settled by miners who travelled from China and California. The ramshackle hut in this photograph is now used for mustering.
Schist is a beautiful stone, and weathers well. Roofs, don't weather so well, as shown in my cover image where the roof is missing in action.I added an outline around both words and the outline around 'stoney' was so pixelated, I erased it.
This doesn't seem to show in the yellow lettering.Hmmm, I've just encountered extreme pixelating with the stroke on my text, too. It may be a small bug in my PSP2023, which, knock wood, I have very few issues with, so I still consider it reliable.

I've only been dabbling in this and that; trying one layout after another and pleased with almost nothing. I think I have a case of February blahs ๐ I also realized I have too many files accumulated over the last several years. It takes so long to find papers or any other elements I want to use. All the searching distracts me from the actual layout. I thought my file organization was pretty good, but not so sure now.
I did this one with a Nat Geo image that was in my inbox. Apparently bees will seek shelter in flowers when it rains and curl up for a snooze! Most of the elements come from a Vicki Robinson kit I got on sale (called Express Yourself- Hope). Fonts are Reisling and Southera.
Thank you for this, Julie, we surely need some hope and beauty here in the States, lately. โค๏ธ

Certainly an idea, over here the weather is always and everywhere a subject to talk about!๐
I was just thinking today as the server at my fast food outlet chatted about the weather, that it is the one safe topic, nowadays! ๐

Haven't we all at some point and maybe repeat it a couple of times too!
@Cassel I know PSP offers restoration of images lost when the program closes unexpectedly for any reason. Is it possible to access those temp files if you deliberately, but mistakenly, close an image without saving?

Not a problem if you train them to use pee pads in the garage.
My last dogs were Irish Wolfhounds. They don't make pee pads that large! ๐

Day 2 and I used the whole height of the page for my photo and the mat was just right for the amount of text I wanted keeping it still readable. The background is off white again and the font is Cambia. It is a simple layout, but I changed the color for the important words in the text. I needed the text to tell something about the park, to give more context to my magazine.
Wow, El Capitan is impressive! You have a small typo, Corrie. The spelling you want is "notable."

I have a total of 30 photos in this series so I obviously won't use them all in this small publication. I decided to use just 3 photos on page 2 as one is so wide as to need the full width of the page. This is a 2024 Christmas tour of Port Jervis, NY and the various decor on many homes there. There is really not much else to say about it. I used the same green pattern for the background as I did on the cover. Since the photos are dark I added a white border to each.

Thank you, Christina. My grandson spent 6 weeks in Thailand this summer, and the photos that he sent are filled with such vibrant colors, especially red and gold.
Donna, I thought of you Sunday when I was watching the first episode of the new season of The White Lotus on HBO/Max which is set in Thailand this time. The colors are really outstanding! The story is a bit bizarre ๐

I agree, Lynda. I prefer the head-on shot. It makes the ship look huge. The other one sort of cuts it off and it looks flat. imho

For my letter D I had to make 2 cards, because in this case the backside is important too. I tried to do both in one card but that didn't work. This is a small plate (15 cm diameter) made of Delfts Blue, or in Dutch Delfts Blauw which is pronounced like now. Delft is the world famous pottery city of the Netherlands for centuries. My dad worked for a big bank with an insurance department. It was in a very stately office building and these plates were on the wall in the canteen. This is written on the backside with the date summer 1949 when they were made especially for the company. Much later when that company moves to another more modern building the plates were offered to the employees. My dad wanted to have one because 1949 is the year I was born. Since then it was on the wall in my parents house until we had to clear the house because mom moved into an nursing home. I took it with me but we never had it on the wall, I sometimes use it for chocolates. It was very difficult to take photos because the glaze on it is so shiny and the light reflected badly on it, but in the end I got something that is acceptable.
Beautiful, Corrie. โค๏ธ I have always had a soft spot for blue and white porcelain. I only have one or two pieces left. I tended to acquire serving dishes. One was found packed in a large wooden barrel in my parent's basement, obviously from my grandparents. I will get to it as the alphabet continues. ๐

PART 2 - ALL ABOUT ME - My History with Movie Theaters. I used the Lab 12-05 template, film reel and strip from PNGWing, title is Elephant font, text is Copperplate Gothic. My PSP2023 behaved perfectly with a text bounding box, even after I made a correction. The background is from Google Maps of the Warwick Drive-In property and surroundings.

@Corrie Kinkel Here is my Dutch Serving Dish, front and back. I can't read the back, though.
