Michele, I had the same problem at first but Carole replaced the zip file with one including a layered template. I went and downloaded it again.

I read Corrie's story (and enjoyed it). It reminded me of my own very young childhood. I wasn't a dolly girl (much to my mother's chagrin b/c she loved making outfits for the dolls she bought me). I played with dolls (and later Barbie), but my favourite activity was playing in the open fields in our small village with lots of other kiddies, especially cowboys and Indians (which is not very politically correct anymore.) We all had holsters and fake six-guns and pretended to ride on stalliions and shoot each other! (We all survived and none of us has ever used a gun since.)

Back in the 1950s, early 1960s, TV westerns were very popular on TV. I would watch them with my dad, night after night, when we weren't watching hockey or boxing or Ed Sullivan. (I was a tomboy, can you tell?) According to a bit of research, TV westerns on the three major networks (ABC, NBC, CBS) numbered over a 100 for a period of eleven or twelve years. Because most of our TV channels came from the US, we were a captive audience.

This layout is my attempt to capture those days of B&W TV when I was a cowgirl, with some of the favourites everyone was watching.

Golly, Julie, you beat me to it! My childhood seems to be identical to yours, even in the same era. Fun story, my mom also dearly wanted me to play with dolls while I was outside swinging lassos. She was deeply disturbed when she found my only doll strung up on my bedroom doorknob with its neck in a hangman's noose! In later years when I was less horse crazy, I found the American Girl doll in a store, but she refused to get it for me, afraid I'd repeat my action from years earlier, I guess. 🤠🐎

    Project #3

For this layout I used the kit cpjess-Vintage Blooms (Jessica Dunn) with glitters from my stash which have a color similar to one in my photos. I had to cleanup the photos, after all they are from 2008 and taken indoors. Instead of the glitter outline of a butterfly I used a paint splash from the kit. I have some elements like the butterfly but those didn't looked right on my page. The admission tickets are done with my own script and the font is Berlin.

Beautiful, Corrie! Where is the museum located?

  4. DAY 7 - My fantasy Viking River Cruise. 😉 (For the new members; I"ve done this before with a fantasy trip to Gabarone, Botswana, Africa.) I mostly used the kit Carole offered, True Heart. The gold leaf is from Nellie Bell. The title font is Belisha and the journaling font is Franklin Gothic Medium. This color scheme is a bit of a departure for me as I usually use bright, primary colors or deep tones.

    Hey y'all, I'm here too....I'm just slow.

I have done Bootcamp a couple of times. It is always a good 'refresh' for me.

I will be using 2019. I like a medium gray workspace, and dark gray background.

I don't know what photos I will be using. I had some major surgery Feb 22. When I signed up for Bootcamp, I knew it would be during 'recovery time' for me, but I didn't realize how slow recovery would really be, and how limited I would be physically. I am seeing signs of spring out my window, so I may look for photos of spring to use.

Hi Linda - sending you healing vibes. Glad to see you made it here!

  6. The next Bootcamp layout features one of my favorite little birds. They visit when I'm out filling their feeders and impatiently scold me. Their voice is high-pitched and metallic sounding. They fly back and forth from trees across the street for one seed at a time, making them very busy, indeed. The title font is "itsadzokes01." The side font is "Before the Rainbow." The photo is by Joan Diamond. The cartoon birds are from Dreamstime. The wood flower is from the kit - cpjess-wildwood thicket.

  7. When I was growing up, my father worked on, what at the time was the Erie Railroad. Now it is Amtrak, and he kept his pocket watch on Standard Time as that was the rule for his job. The trains had to run on time! He was Chief Night Dispatcher and most of the traffic he directed was freight.

We still follow Daylight Saving Time here in NY. I wish the world would just stop or, at least, do it on the same day. Now that I'm retired, it doesn't affect me, but I always hated it. I remember when my daughter was little, she couldn't understand why she had to go to bed when it was still light out. 🙃

Michele, This post just came in as an email attached to the topic: March Freebie thread.?? When I clicked on it, your post was not there, because, of course, it was HERE. 😜

  9. We turned our clocks ahead an hour this past Saturday night/Sunday morning. I was grateful that all my devices changed automatically, and I only had a few to adjust manually. My own brain has not totally adjusted yet and neither have my creatures who depend on me for meals. I looked in my stash for something about Time and found this...

Bina, I love your layouts but unfortunately, the text is too small to read in this format. Can you post the text separately, in a larger version, as I'd love to read it. Thanks! 🧐

Rice pudding, one of my favourite puddings, served either hot or cold. I make a rice pudding once a week. Traditionally  made with all milk, and pearle rice, in other words pudding rice. I love the skin, which is flavoured with nutmeg.

    Speaking of rice pudding, it is now in the news via Semafor today;

Hi all, my workspace only offers 'Photography' or 'Essentials' (as I am on PSP 23) - which one should I choose for this bootcamp?

I have gone for mid grey with white background for the workspace.

My photo is from a recent week in Morocco; not sure what to expect so not sure what other photos I will use, but I took plenty!!!

Wow, those colors are fabulous! Can't wait to see more... 😉

  13. Here is my Week Ten, featuring a Photopolymer Etching by my daughter, Debbie Lennox, of her Big River Farm in Springtime that I converted to Grayscale just to see how that would work. The original is in tones of brown. The font is now Cardigan Script.

  14. I made a screenshot of my workspace. You'll notice I don't use thumbnails in my layer palette. Also, be sure to UNCHECK TABBED DOCUMENTS in the WINDOW menu at the top.

The photo I've included is of a Viking River Cruise in Europe and I'm planning on documenting a Fantasy Travel Layout using their stock photos.

Ann you did what I did to get the slipped in look! I hope you don't mind me saying so but shouldn't the black shadow line on the left side of the photo be on the right side. The shadow on your title is to the right with the light coming from the left.

Oh, you just gave me a wake-up-call. I ROTATED the photo area! That's why it's wrong. *slaps forehead* 😉

  16. These photos showed up in The Hudson Valley in Pictures yesterday and I couldn't resist as I'm related to Louis Bevier through my father, Harold Terwilliger. His grandfather was married to Sara Bevier, a great-granddaughter of Louis. I've never been to Huguenot Street but a trip is planned! My "template" was just a .jpg so it took some maneuvering to create the "slipped-in" look. Thank goodness for promoted layers! I had to stick with the plain background because of that so I did a colorization and added a texture. The title font is Belisha. I created the brad from a piece of Huguenot art and one in my stash.
