Jnet: I wish you the best on the move. The stress can take a toll on you, so take care.

For the passwords, yuk and double yuk! When you can, check into password managers. There are several free versions of the more popular ones. Also, current browsers have built-in managers. I use one that can store information in the cloud and access it from anywhere and on any device.

    Good luck!

Jnet, I agree a password manager is a good idea. I use LastPass and I only have to remember (or write down) one master password and the app secures everything. It generates unbreakable passwords up to 15 characters long. I used the free version for a while but I ended up upgrading to premium for further needs but the free version is certainly sufficient.

Ann, nicely done and I find the historic facts of such places always very interesting, especially when there is a Dutch connection. When I was in California this year we had a wine tasting on a big vineyard on one of the trips we made. The young man that came to explain about the wines we got to taste, asked where we came from and of course I said Netherlands. Well he was delighted to hear that because his grandfather was Dutch and we had a nice conversation about it. Much to the annoyance of my son in law who is Swiss; there are not so many Swiss decedents in the States, Dutch however I find them everywhere.

Thank you, Corrie. If you ever visit the East Coast of the USA, be sure to take in the New Paltz area in Ulster County, NY, where the Dutch influence is strong, along with Manhattan where the Dutch thought they purchased the land. The native tribe didn't consider it a purchase but as tribute for their hospitality. To them, land use was communal and not something to be owned. If you ever really do get to my area, we must be sure to meet up! 😊

    Hello to all participants.

I arrive late, because I am in the boxes full to bursting from our 52 years of life together for my husband and me. I think I will have enough to sort through, throw away, keep and give away everything we have accumulated over these 52 years.

In addition to the move, I was surprised when I turned on my computer that all my saved passwords had disappeared. I think I'll have to change them all because the ones I have in note don't go through, as if I needed that!

So good to see you again, Jnet! Sorry about the very annoying password issue. Good luck with your move...I hate moving!

  4. Here's my entry in the Random Challenge for June. Debbie, Laurey and I took a trip to New Paltz, NY, in Ulster County, where my Dad's forefathers landed from the Netherlands and France. Terwilliger was the Dutch name and Bevier was the French Huguenot. We took a guided tour of the Huguenot Street encampment and saw my great-great grandmother's home and burial stone. The guide was very knowledgeable and personality+. I snagged the historical society's logo, used a cass-datestamp with an added house flourish courtesy of the Huguenot Street website. All the photos were taken by us. The text font is Bahnschrift. The background photo has an exclusion layer and a dark green behind it. I used the template #714 from Marisa Lerin.

Jessica Dunn has a challenge for June on Pixel Scrapper using one of her masks.  I am using that mask on this layout. The flower is from Rachel Martin (Pixel Scrapper); the string is a Cassel string in Picture Tubes; the leaves are mine from one of the labs; the Title font is Arshinta Kirania Script; the place name script is Arial Black.

Really nice, Mary! Gosh, how you have evolved from a year ago! It must be all that work you do on the Labs. I think I see a small typo on the line that identifies the photographer. Does it say Photo or Phoro by G. Larive? I'm not sure because of the reduced size...

I had some time left over today and instead of just posting a photo with plants in containers on my small patio I made this layout. Not so long ago I had a bit of leftover money from a birthday gift and spend that on a kit by Jessica Dunn called Vintage flowers. Everything on this page comes from that kit, including the mask. The weather over here is still way to cold for the time of the year and way to wet as well, but today we had some sunny spells that allowed me to quickly take some photos. The corner in the photo has the most of the sun and is doing well despite all the bad weather, of course Hortensia's like water and they are getting plenty of it. Because everything is in containers/pots we normally have to water very regularly, but this year we didn't have to, at least until now. To the left in the photo is the spot were we have 3 garbage bins and those take a lot of our small space but we have fenced it of. There is a schedule when to put them outside along the kerb for emptying. To the right is the door to the parking spot and behind where I was standing for the photo is the wall of our shed with a door in the middle. The last side of the rectangle has the door to go inside and 2 large windows from the living that look out on the patio. It is nice to be able to sit outside, but after 7 years of living here I still sometimes miss the garden of our former house where we lived 43 years. We have a table and a couple of garden chairs and it nice to have an outdoor space where we can enjoy our morning coffee and if the sun is to hot we lower the sunscreen and have shade.

Corrie: that looks so nice and relaxing to contemplate. I do like plants in containers. A question: I see the upper left NOTE says Wednesday May 12. This week is Wednesday June 12. Did that come with the kit? I do love that background paper...

I have been an avid reader since grade school.  The background is from Creative Fabrica that I downloaded who knows when.  The Black Beauty book picture is one I copied from the internet.

Oh, me, too, Anne. I also, was horse crazy, though Black Beauty upset me. I was a big fan of The Black Stallion series. I wish I still had the books. I can still recite the first line as I must have read it 20 times... "The tramp steamer Drake ploughed through the heavy seas..."

A bigger monitor typically will have a higher resolution, and a higher resolution will result in smaller display. That is why I purposefully use a lower resolution on my monitor when I record tutorials or hold classes.

Then, in order to increase the size of the thumbnails, you can go to File > Preferences > General Program Preferences > Palettes and you can change the Palette Thumbnail size from the 50 pixels default to something else. You can also change the Tooltips Thumbnail to something large and that will give a bigger image when you hover over a layer.

This is what I do: I use no thumbnails at all but have large tooltips. I like that almost all layers are visible when I'm working. I'm also pretty compulsive about labeling the layers. I do have the script but sometimes, especially with a template, the supplied names are not helpful at all. Oh, and btw, @Cassel, I had a wild promoted layer last night but could'nt find the History button. I now found it but will have to wait for the next attack of the wild promos. 😉

I thought about a layout and finally decided to try black & white (like text on a page, or like life without small joys). To me, books are my gateway - to learning, to pleasure, to emotions, to so many things. They have been a very large part of my life since childhood. I can't even fall asleep without reading at least a few pages.

The background stamp is from Katie Pertiet, and the flower stamp is from ET Designs. The cluster frame is Jessica Dunn.

  11. I forgot to post this while waiting for the Campus to stop having a nervous breakdown! j/k

My Chippy is quite photogenic. Now he wants to come in a play with the cats. (I don't think so; Eve would dispatch him handily 😞

For years I bought my books; then I used the library b/c it got expensive to own them. Then, during the lockdowns, I downloaded them to my device (iPad or Kindle) from the library cloud service. I found that so convenient and easy, that I continue to do that now. The only downside is that they sometimes will have some books from a series and not others.

I have used the library in the past. Right now, I've put a hold on buying or adding any more, at least until I've read them all!

I love this layout.  The quote and the images backing it up are so fitting.  90 books would take up a lot of room if they were physical.  My hubby watches techy shows on Youtube and I happen to be in the same room one day while he was watch one.  I  had always wondered about "The Cloud".  what is it?  Is it floating around in the cyber sky, on a fluffy white cyber-cloud? Then the host of the show he was watching says:  :There is no cloud, only your files on the someone else's computer."  hahahaha, I never thought of it that way.  I liked the mystery of my info happily floating along on a fluffy cloud (the cloud is smiling of course).

Hate to tell you but I forgot a zero on that number of books. It should have been 900. I've corrected it now. Thank goodness the "cloud" is roomy! 😉

  14. I love this topic. At last count, my Amazon Kindle has over 900 books in my cloud. I do like that I can accumulate books without taking up space here in my small condo.  I might even have some old layouts to display while I come up with something new. Here's one from the topic Hobbies back in 2021.
