  1. Dessert for breakfast! I had scrapped my famous Stuffed French Toast, and it surely looks like a dessert with all that whipped cream! Behold...

Ha ha! I just noticed it is the same layout as Corrie and Bonnie!

  2. I LOVE bootcamp! I have been attending for 3 years and it is offered several times a year. The layouts demonstrated are classic with a clean look which is just what I like. Some of my best scrapbook pages have been done in bootcamp and I look forward to more. One of the best parts is meeting new people and hopefully, being a little helpful if they need it. I find I learn things better when explaining them to others.

Spring is a long, long way off here. I'm pleased that the cold resonated through the photo, as it was  bitterly cold, -29c, calm, with a clear blue sky.  I can only expose fingers for a vey short time,  batteries drain quickly.   It's great taking photos at ground level, during the winter months, as the snow moulds to my shape, making being sprawled on the ground comfortable.  The snow is  ever so dry, that I don't get wet, I brush it off like you would icing sugar.

I guess the prevailing sport would be ice sculptures rather than snowmen. That kind of snow doesn't pack satisfactorily for snowballs, either! 😉

  4. Happy March! I feel we're now one step closer to Spring! 🌷 Here is my Wild Cat Calendar for March featuring The Mountain Lion, aka Cougar or Puma. I got the animal details from activecat.com. I will put a full-sized version on Facebook for printing as an 8.5"x11" decoration for our refrigerator doors. 😉

Week nine, chasing yesterday, in a mamnner of speaking.   I was out shooting photos of  what was left of the Autumnal leaves.  This  leaf caught my eye, as it had  finally descended, landing onto a blanket of fresh snow.

Wow, that is a beautiful photo, Sue. That snow is so clear I can feel the cold from it! 😉 Funny, I'm preparing my own Week Nine and it also features fallen leaves but with a little taste of Spring.

  6. I can start with my current kitties: Adam, my black "Hauspanther" and Eve, my "Tuxie" (Tuxedo cat).

Adam was adopted from the Warwick (NY) Animal Shelter after we lost Miss Kitty, who was a dark "Tortie", at the age of 20. Adam was already 2 years old when adopted and had spent his whole life in the shelter. We kept his name as he knew it and answered to it. They say black cats are always the last to be adopted, probably due to myth and prejudice. He chose me as I walked into their cattery, reaching out a paw from his perch on a tall cat tower.

Eve was adopted 2 years later at the age of one from the West Milford (NJ) Animal Shelter. She had been picked up as a pregnant stray, had two kittens at the shelter, and was waiting for her "forever home."

Eve was delighted to meet Adam, but he was not all that enthusiastic. To him, she was an annoying little sister! There was no fighting, but he avoided her, if possible. Black cats are usually very mellow personalities whereas, Tuxies are feisty. He managed to make her cool her enthusiasm by planting a paw on her head occasionally. 😆

Adam was initially brought to the shelter with a sister, named Eve. They were tiny kittens, just weaned. Eve was soon adopted but Adam languished. When we added the Tuxie to our family, we were sort of forced to rename her "Eve" to match him; plus her shelter name was not appropriate. They called her Mango. (Mango is actually a cartoon cat that is orange.) And she didn't respond to it as her name so "Eve" she became.

I almost forgot the origin of his name. Adam and his sister were born in Pine Island, NY, and the local "mountains" were dubbed "Adam & Eve." They were really no more than hills.

  7. Ah, I used the new template, also. Here is grandson, Tyler-John (28), just back from his first Caribbean vacation in Costa Rica all by himself! (He says he hasn't had time to develop any romantic relationships yet. 😉) I used the cass-datestamp9. The toucan bird is from a kit "Froot Loops." (Does he qualify for the Rainbow Challenge?) The background photo is from Alamy_MHKT6M.

  8. I am an only child, also, and only learned about my parents' previous marriages when I was 12 or so. My first question to them was "do I have any brothers or sisters"? My parents started late having children and none of their friends had any my age. I was so happy to go to school and find friends! My dad worked for the Erie Railroad. When I had my daughter, Debbie, I vowed she's not be an "only" and had Laurey 19 months later. 👶👶 This layout is from Aug 2020. I used the kit: Lady Bug Hugs and the title font is Snap ITC.

Ann, your daughter is so talented.  I love her style.  And the back story is so interesting.   Is the sled still around?

Susan, that's a good question and the answer is I don't know. Possibly one of my daughters has it or it may have been left behind at the house in Sussex County, NJ, where they grew up. Their father passed away in 1992 and their stepmother had a wood stove fire which ended up with the house condemned. Now you have me wondering so I'll make a point of asking. That etching was done just last year so maybe... Thanks for the memory boost!

  10. Here's my childhood toy, a wooden red sled built by my grandfather, Emil Hagquist, who emigrated here from Finland in the early 1900s. I was born the year WWII started and there were no commercial children's sleds to be found in the stores as all the manufacturing was devoted to the war effort. This is an etching created by my daughter, Debbie Lennox, who actually played with this sled. Note, there is no steering mechanism; you had to drag your toes to steer. 😉

I'll see if I can fit that. I don't know if any of those scripts would be useful for digital scrapbooking. Can you think of some?

Looking through them, I tried the one called Flag and was surprised to get a wavy rectangle which did look like a flag.

Also, the Grayscale Border gave me a wide grayscale border around my image, similar to what was on my wedding layout for the Masks Workshop. You'd have to add a frame, also.

There's really a lot there that I haven't tried yet.

As I am moving along with this book, I am thinking of having one whole chapter/section for PSP tutorials, or how to work with PSP for the basics.

I am thinking of addressing how to work with Layers, the Text tool, the Brushes, and the Picture tubes.

Since it is not going to be a PSP manual, what other "tool" do you think would need to be expanded in a digital scrapbooking book?

I assume that the readers will at least be basically familiar with PSP and not complete newbies yet, we all know that even those with some experience with the program still don't feel comfortable with everything it can offer (and that could be useful in digital scrapbooking).

I'd appreciate a comprehensive guide to using scripts including the Corel ones that come with PSP.

I had no idea what to do with this. While playing around with borders and shadows, I ended up making "stickers". At least I hope that's what they look like. I added the same texture to everything and added a drop shadow around the bottom layers only. The font for the text is Priscilla Script (from Deal Jumbo) and the font for the hearts is Beauty And Love (from Creative Fabrica).

Michele, this is really clever. Is it for the Divas?

@Cassel: Thanks again for hosting this great workshop!!! 💓

Masks usually do have some sort of presence in the layouts I make but painted masks were never a real focus. I see changes a comin'...   how perfect they are on smaller pages, like my 6x6 album or even 7x7 or 8x8 , as sole features really.

I made a repeat pattern, it is rather transparent. Graphics Marisa Lerin, Jessica Dunn, myself. Times New Roman, Baskerville Old Style, Myriad, Headline, Dancing Script. Spread 12x6

Beautiful layout, Bina. I do wish I could read that language...

that's weird, it told me slippers was wrong, when I scrolled back up into the test....I think.  I almost flubbed up choosing that you couldput a shadow on the mask.  I was going to say yes because if you turn it into a raster you can shadow it.  then I realized if it's a raster it's no longer a mask.  So no, you cant shadow a mask....that I know of.

Yeah, Slippers is wrong; the correct name is Teddy. And Kaleidoscope is the wrong answer for "What tool/command seems to be getting addictive to play with?" Maybe the correct one was "All of the above."

  16. I had to go back and find the Pop Quiz as I had missed it the first time around. I got You got 9/10 correct! I did get the cat's name correct but missed the one that asked about addictive techniques. I guessed Kaleidoscope but that was wrong. It doesn't tell me what the correct answer should be.

I couldn't live with them roaming the 'hood, I'd be a basket case of worry.

Yeah, me, too. atm I'm feeding 3 feral "community" cats outside on my porch. I have an application in for the local shelter to come for Trap/Neuter/Release [TNR] which means they'll be back for me to feed. I put up a cat cabin on the porch for their shelter. Meanwhile, my indoor brats are jonesing after the ferals food which is different than theirs. I've tried them on the canned pate and all they do is get sick on it. The indoor crew hangs out by the open sliding glass door in good weather; which is their version of a "catio!"

It's part of a set of tools called Powertoys, a free add-on to Windows. The mouse highlighter is great for finding the cursor, particularly on a busy screen. Just shake the mouse, and a big highlighter shows up, which shrinks down to highlight the cursor.

Thanks, Gerry. I now have the Powertoys and the highlighted (and animated) cursor!

Me too.  And I've done the quiz before.  I always want to to call the cat Slippers.  If I ever get another cat I want to call it Slippers.

You remind me, #Susan Ewart. During the Vectors class you posted a photo of a cat with a waving tail with the label "I'm too sexy for my tail. I'm too sexy for my tail. Imagine that!" My question, is that your cat? If so, what's it's name? I was so impressed I printed it out and it's on my office wall... 😽
