I'm back! I was MIA for a while b/c life can sometimes get in the way of our plans and other activities. When things are rocky, I tend to withdraw and lick my wounds until I regain my balance. I couldn't produce anything for a while; the simplest layout was beyond me. I visit cemeteries quite a bit. As a family historian and general history researcher, both cemeteries and obituaries are goldmines of info. Folks with these types of interests tend to favour time spent with the dearly departed. This layout features the small rural cemetery where my family are buried. It's such a tranquil place with a huge garden behind the actual burial ground. The granite bench (put in by my family) that you can see in the bottom right is where I sit while I am visiting. The quiet is absolute and restorative. Rarely a vehicle goes by, only birdsong and the wind. Sigh. It restoreth my soul, as they say. I was interested in playing with lines and stitches based on a layout I saw that used these elements. There are so many different bits in this that I couldn't list them. The white crosses at some graves are indicators of war veterans.

She seems to offer so many ways to blend photos, good ones or bad, into layouts. It's fun to explore her techniques.

This is a touching and poignant layout for your friend. What a lovely gift.

This was just for fun, for the husband of the woman who organizes all the heritage plaques that are being installed in our area. Jim is the background guy most of the time and does all the dog'sbody work which is why I called him a "roadie'. Caught him carrying some stuff back to the van and made him pose. He's actually a well-known historian in the area and a great speaker/storyteller at many events. Made it as 8.5x11" so it would print for them.

This has a nice dreamy quality to it. I really love it.

Because it's October and I just enjoy this month so much, I have to keep making some layouts to showcase the colours around. The photo is mine from last fall at the dog park in town. The papers in the background are from Jessica Dunn. There are Foto Glows from Anna Aspnes behind the framed image. The frame is a cluster from Melo Virjhof at Digital Scrapbook from a while back. And a bunch of other bits and bobs from my Autumn stash.

Did your kilt come with a large safety pin to wear vertically on the skirt? I remember that mine did. Your mom got you to work hard at school! Clever lady!

Are you going to print all of these wonderful playing cards? They would look great framed together, I think, if they would all fit. Such a fab collection you've created.

Hello Mike, Professional Amateur Photog! Looking forward to seeing your pix. We have a couple of picture-taking members whose work is always appreciated (Sue T & Susan E come to mind). It will be fun to have another male as part of the membership. Remember to have fun while you're learning the ins and outs of PSP, and to ask for help anytime.

This layout adheres to the "spirit" of this challenge, but since I have few photos to choose from, I decided to make do with this one. My mother would deck me out for special occasions (like church or holidays), and I guess I went along with her wishes. But I really don't recall much in the way of specific outfits that I had. I know she made a lot of clothes for me (and my older sister) when we were young, but later we went on trips to Detroit to shop at the great Hudson's Department Store for some new school gear. No photos however and only scattered memories of what we got there. Of course, at that time, little girls wore only dresses/skirts to school. How very impractical since we were always rough-housing in the schoolyard at recess. This picture captures me (on the right) and a friend (and we still are) decked out for Easter. The little bags we're clutching just make me smile! And oh, those bonnets! Background elements from Katie Pertiet and Anna Aspnes. Frame from Natali (PBP?).

Mostly I use categories to store my stash, as Michele and Corrie said they do, but for some designers, I simply create a folder for their names and then keep the files in their original folders, but I add more info to the folder names to identify them better. e.g. [Katie Pertiet] > Artsy Stroke Lines or Filmstrip Edges, etc.

Oh Ann, that brings back such memories for me. I too was usually seen wearing cowboy gear and rarely dresses. And my mother was an extraordinary seamstress who kitted out my dolls instead of me. I don't have any of those things anymore, but I sure remember them. Thanks for the memory! And I do recall Margaret O'Brien. Perfect layout for the theme.

Just playing around with pieces from the Anna Aspnes freebies. And wishing my fellow PSPers a Happy Thanksgiving (well, the Canadian ones anyway). The only bit I "created" was the beaded string effect. It's an idea taken right from AA. I used her strings and the alpha beads come from Marisa Lerin (I started making my own and then gave up!). Oh, and the text is something I made some time ago, just added the Canadian flag to it.

You might have been reluctant to do it, but the layout works so well! Love the colours.

And it seems to be the gift that keeps on giving. You'll get emails about more freebies to come! Gotta love that. I'm still watching her videos and trying to use the techniques that she has developed for such unique layouts.
