Have a wonderful trip Jannette. A getaway is always a good thing for the soul. And don't throw your computer through the window! Get someone to help you perhaps?

Thanks Ann.

Done, thanks.

I posted this in April. Thanks for pointing that out friends. Early May...is there a sweeter, more lovely, time of year? At least here in my part of the world. The flowering trees are spectacular and colour is back in the world. Grabbed a few quick shots while I was out today to capture the beauty of it all. (Except the Forsythia, which I got online.) Used PSE 2024 (my Affinity has expired and I can't afford to get back into it) and a template from Anna Aspnes. Some papers from a kit I won from ET Designs. The metal bee is also AA. I will be looking at this next winter.

Love the photo! It could be my grandmother in her kitchen. That's what I thought of. Great dot pattern too.

That was fast, Corrie! It seems you were just getting ready to go!

I came across this vintage fashion photo quite unexpectedly. And it grabbed my attention. As I did a bit of looking into it, an interesting story of the photographer (Martin Munkasci, a Hungarian) emerged. He was considered daring and risk-taking in his style of photography. I enjoyed looking at some of his fashion work. Made the layout just for fun, b/c the image is such fun.

With so many wonderful posts in this thread (nearly 400!), I have not been able to keep up. I couldn't participate this time. But I'm getting back (slowly) to a more normal pace of life. So many things going on with family issues, all rather time-consuming and exhausting (and completely beyond my control). I somehow have held the opinion that layouts need to be happy and upbeat (flowers, butterflies, unicorns, etc.) to celebrate all the big things in life. But I see layouts on many sites and, while many are like that, others are more mundane, and some are quite sad or soulful as they express darker emotions which are part of daily life too. Everyone who has posted in this Workshop has done a great job. You've sure kept Carole busy keeping up!

I really noticed the difference in loading today too. In previous days, it was taking 15-20 seconds after I clicked to log in. Signing out was slow too.

I thought I posted this l/o yesterday, but it didn't show up. It's a rare photo of ME! It was a very cold day a couple of weeks ago at the dog park where my dog-walking friend snapped a pic while I sat, bundled up, to let our dogs roam. Somehow they are missing from the image??? The weather here (SW Ontario) has been variable to put it nicely. Cold, then hot, and repeat. Mask and paper textures from Anna Aspnes. The elements are from my stash.

If I give you my address, can you send me one, Sue?

Oh yes! I wish I could get that one here. I doubt it they deliver to Canada. 😐

Now there's an exhibit in Paris I would love to see! Thanks for the link.

We have those, have not ever checked for cake at BR. The DQ cakes are not quite the same. But what actually is the same as we recall it from those childhood days?

Nice touches of mixed media to make this layout zing!

Good idea! I'll check out a fabric store near me! 😄 Sometimes AI is not that bright. We don't have Target here anymore (Canada) and only Costco and I know they don't have it. But I am really salivating right now just thinking about it.

I find some days the login and the links are very slow. Sometimes I just close it and walk away for a while to see if the connections are better.

This was one of my faves as a kid! Can't find it for years now.

It was always (since I was a kid) my mother's 3-layer carrot cake with cream cheese icing! When I was very young I wouldn't eat it b/c it had "carrots" in its name. Boy, was I happy when I finally gave in. 🙂

Today, after talking yet again to someone very close to me, I made this layout. It is simple but it comes from the heart and is made to help that person let go a little bit of the burdens he is carrying right now. Sometimes an image is better than just words. I used a page mask from KP, some papers and elements from NBK designs on Oscraps.

OK, I guess I'm up first with my interpretation of the sketch. It's for Easter. I used an illustration that I came across online that just caught my eye and my heart. Illustrator is Michael Sowa. It is posted on Beautiful Illustrations, a FB page. Lots of elements from my stash. At least it got me motivated enough to make a layout as sketches are meant to do.

And a blessed Passover to you, Michele.

Warm day, cold day. That's the way it's been here too! Mother Nature is struggling with picking a season.

When life is turbulent, I tend to look to the past for solace and comfort. I was thinking about when my mother was a switchboard operator in our small town telephone office. The photo from 1962 has her (standing, second from left) and the other ladies who worked there until the changeover to direct dial in that year. I can still recall their saying "Number please." Our phone numbers were simple. Ours was 108. The best one was No. 1. There were also "party lines" which had strange numbers like 33R12 which meant Ring one long, two short. The older pic shows the earlier office in the front room of the house of the man in the pic. He was the local manager. That house is across the street from where I lived and has been lived in by a good friend of mine for over 50 years. The original wiring still exists under the house! I wanted to use some colour in this l/o since nature here is only slowly gaining some vibrancy.

You did such a brilliant job with this and the neon!
