  1. Storytime #2. I used my own layout and brought in some elements/papers from the template. Had some trouble this time with text wrapping when I tried to edit. But finally it worked.
  2. I had no trouble with the wrapped text (in 2022) on the first layout. But on the second one, when I wanted to edit the text, it would revert (sometimes) to unwrapped. Finally got it, but I also saved what I'd typed so I wouldn't have to redo that.
  3. I love cryptic crosswords. Took me a while to learn how to solve them, but it's very satisfying.
  4. Not a bad choice in Henry!
  5. I've decided I'm not fond of templates. It seems to take me longer to work with them than to do my own layout! Here is the first challenge.
  6. I didn't use the Warp Brush technique. It looked too wonky. So I reverted to the shadow on new layer and used the Perspective tool to adjust the corners and the shadow.
  7. Thanks Sue. You're right, of course. But I realize that every new skill is difficult before it's easy. It took me some time, but your encouragement kept me going. Now, on to other things I'm terrible at....
  8. I'd say I threw this together quickly and easily, but it wasn't quick. I dithered around with it for too long and just wanted to keep it simple to align with the challenge. BeaBea belongs to a friend. I have no kitty, over a year now.😢 Now that I've conquered the Interlacing Technique....you'll likely see it often! 😁
  9. I feel the same way. I'd rather do my own work, even if it isn't dazzling the way AI can do it. But I also enjoy seeing the creations others are doing.
  10. Love the layout and the details you included. And you got the lifted corner in there too!
  11. It was Susan Ewart who mentioned Lab 7-2. I also went to it and watched the videos. Some great techniques to use, as you did.
  12. Yes, it's one in a series being installed this year. There were seven last year, six this year. At the official event, the mayor of the municipality and others will attend. For a small village, there will likely be a good turnout for the unveiling as well as the reception afterwards. I hope to have lots of pix to use as layouts after that! So beware.....😉
  13. Really? You want us to guess that? Just wanna enjoy all those adorable, innocent faces and the delightful layout.
  14. I'm still working on the history (Book #3 will be out later this year I think), but when I'm finished I will be sending the files I've accumulated to our historical society as well. The village is too small to have even a local history group or a place to display the collections. But we are getting a large heritage plaque in two weeks which I helped with. It seems to have become my "mission" to document and mark the history of the place. And I'm so happy to be doing it!
  15. I wonder if Book Bub is available in Canada? I won't buy books unless the price is reasonable. Thirty dollars for a book I will read in 2-3 days just isn't worth it to me. I also get really annoyed when I'm informed I'm No. 137 on one copy! Why don't they offer more than one if the book is popular? I belong to several libraries as well so the selections are usually pretty good.
  16. Look what was waiting for me when I got home a while ago! And guess what I'll be doing this evening? So exciting.
  17. Your progress through the Labs is inspiring to see. Love these cutouts.
  18. I hope your husband enjoys the journey of documenting the history of his village as much as I have mine. The population of my village has declined, and there is very little left in terms of commerce, but it has great spirit, and the folks who still live there are proud of the heritage.
  19. I have a nephew who is turning 60! It's much harder to make a layout for a male! And he's colour-blind, so I kept it simple. I made most of it and I INTERLACED the ribbon, but forgot to add the shadow! Always something. The background texture & ribbon are from elsewhere.
  20. There aren't many pix of me at any school, but I have lots of images of the village where I grew up b/c I research and write about it in history articles. Schools were so important in rural areas. Even the simplest and less fortunate families wanted their children to be better educated than they were. Our village got a beautiful new Continuation School (up to Grade 10) in 1909. It was a serious blow when that burned down in 1942, leaving teachers and pupils with no where to go. A new public school was built in less than two years, but the upper grades (to Grade 13) had to make do for SEVEN YEARS with classes in a rundown hotel. There are so many stories from those years! It was a major achievement by and for that village to get a district high school approved and opened in late 1949. It was equally heartbreaking when it was closed and then demolished. No more high school there since then. Students are bused to other area secondary schools.
  21. I got tall around age 12, grew some more, and almost made it to 6', but not quite. I think now I am going the other way? And, it IS long ago!
  22. You got those loopy frames down pat! Nice.
  23. I ordered the "real" version of Carole's book, but I'm thinking of getting the e-book version as well so I can do the same with the iPad beside the laptop.
