In the Netherlands you don't get paid for blood/plasma donations but you do get something to drink and to eat. There are strict regulations about who can give blood to assure that it can be used for transfusions. There is always a shortish of blood for the blood groups that are less common and sometimes people with those groups will be called in for an extra donation. People who have given a great many times get some sort of medal and flowers or a giftcard with a small amount of money on it to thank them. Due to some medical condition I can not donate my blood, my husband had to when he was doing his conscription time and continued for some years after that.

Z = Zebra Swallowtail - thanks to google, I knew there was one starting with zebra, but I couldn't remember the rest of the word.

@Sue Thomas Instead of commenting on all your layouts one by one, I just want to say they all look stunning and of course they are in your so unique style. It learns me a lot of insects that I don't know and most of them aren't living in my part of the world, or when they do it is often another variety.
-
Thank you, now I finally know what this creature is. It was quietly sitting in the citrus tree and we could take a good look at it.
-
Sue you know so much about insects and I wonder if you could help me. I took this photo when I was in California in the end of April last year and I have no clue what it is, I think it is a beetle but I'm not sure. It was rather big, a couple of centimeters. I searched a bit on line but couldn't find anything similar. I don't think it is rare it was just in the front garden, but my granddaughter who is always interested in everything living said she hadn't seen it before.

I keep that trick with huhs in mind. By the way my family isn't wondering what we in Europe think, they know! It are the contacts with the Amies that can be tricky now and I suppose it will be a lot of huhs, nodding and smiling.

My husband got a 3D puzzle from the Eiffel tower and it even has lights in it. It was a bit of a puzzle 🤔 to make a nice photo, but when it was dark it worked fine. The font for the letter E is Puzzle and the rest is fruity cereal outline. Eiffel tower is in Dutch Eiffeltoren and it is pronounced differently the o sound is like the o in borrow and we write it as one word instead of two.

Recently Anna Aspnes was retiring a lot of her older products and had those on sale with a big discount and I bought just a small kit and in this kit was a butterfly and lovely backgrounds and elements. With this month's theme I had to try to make a layout in Affinity and I used one of my own butterfly photos and put it inside the frame from the kit. Then I had to use a pin from my stash to "hang" the frame on. The font I used is called My Butterfly and has lovely swatches and although I have found a way to use some I couldn't figure out how to use others. There is so much to learn.......

The above leads me to the question if it is possible to set your workspace in Affinity?

That is my tried and tested manner to resolve such things as well!

For me it will be extremely difficult to talk to people when I'm visiting my family in California in April. The times I was visiting them in the last coupe of years I was always asked what we in Europe are thinking of what is happening, or what we are thinking about Trump/Biden. I firstly have to explain that Europe is the continent and that it has many different countries who don't think the same or agree on the same things on many subjects. But this time I probably won't go into details and try to avoid such conversations as much as possible.

I will try to explain There is one large photo layer but what if you have two photos to showcase? You can simply create two new shapes. You can use the Move tool and activate the photo layer, and make it about half the height it was before. Then rightclick on that new layer and duplicate it and move the copy. For 3 layers you just have to make the layers smaller.

Such a lovely song and music! I didn't know the singer and will certainly search for more songs by her.

I like the diagonal with this photo, it works great! You choose an interesting theme for your magazine and your pages show it to perfection. Besides that you are almost done with them and afterwards comes some tweaking. I'm looking forward to what you will do in the end.

I don't think so, for me it works now! I still have to give the Group a name, but I can ignore that pop-up and Affinity names it just Group. That is fine if you only have 1 group and if there are more you always can give those a name.

Wow Donna, this is a great site to use too, we are getting a choice and I will keep this one for future use as well. Your flippingbook looks great!
-
Wow I like this as well and it offers another option to show what you have made. I have to check this out for future use

https://heyzine.com/flip-book/c95de2dd4b.html As promised, this is the link for my flipbook about Yosemite NP. Maybe I should have chosen another format, but it was all new to me, so I want to show it anyways. The link will work for 1 week, enjoy

I tried to do this process again and followed the original tutorial step by step and it just worked as it did in 2.5. I also found that yesterday when I wanted to use this effect on a different page I probably wasn't following the tut to the letter and thought it had something to do with the update to 2.6. But now after a good nights sleep and a day away from the computer it works normally. Conclusion: user error

Jacques I agree it did, but there were a lot of photos on a filmrol that were not so good and I always had the feeling I wasted a good filmrol to get 1 or 2 really good photos. Nowadays I take a lot of photos and in the end have a good selection to work with. It definitively makes life easier this way.

Thank you Ann, I'll rectify! That hotel was so impressive and we had breakfast there and got to take a look around.

Here are my last two extra pages for the magazine and I used two templates, number 3 is rotated to the right and number 4 is one of the extra diamond templates. I have enjoyed doing this workshop in Affinity and overall it worked fine. Some things just took me more time then in PSP, but I learned from it! Tomorrow I will have a look on how to make a digital flipover book. If that works I'll post the link in here. Carole thank you for a fun workshop and all of you for the comments and inspiration with so many lovely pages. ❤️
