  1. Wow Donna, this is a great site to use too, we are getting a choice and I will keep this one for future use as well. Your flippingbook looks great!
  2. Wow I like this as well and it offers another option to show what you have made. I have to check this out for future use
  3. https://heyzine.com/flip-book/c95de2dd4b.html As promised, this is the link for my flipbook about Yosemite NP. Maybe I should have chosen another format, but it was all new to me, so I want to show it anyways. The link will work for 1 week, enjoy
  4. I tried to do this process again and followed the original tutorial step by step and it just worked as it did in 2.5. I also found that yesterday when I wanted to use this effect on a different page I probably wasn't following the tut to the letter and thought it had something to do with the update to 2.6. But now after a good nights sleep and a day away from the computer it works normally. Conclusion: user error
  5. Jacques I agree it did, but there were a lot of photos on a filmrol that were not so good and I always had the feeling I wasted a good filmrol to get 1 or 2 really good photos. Nowadays I take a lot of photos and in the end have a good selection to work with. It definitively makes life easier this way.
  6. Thank you Ann, I'll rectify! That hotel was so impressive and we had breakfast there and got to take a look around.
  7. Here are my last two extra pages for the magazine and I used two templates, number 3 is rotated to the right and number 4 is one of the extra diamond templates. I have enjoyed doing this workshop in Affinity and overall it worked fine. Some things just took me more time then in PSP, but I learned from it! Tomorrow I will have a look on how to make a digital flipover book. If that works I'll post the link in here. Carole thank you for a fun workshop and all of you for the comments and inspiration with so many lovely pages. ❤️
  8. Day 7 and that is the end of our visit to Yosemite NP. I have used the Cover template to make a backside for the magazine, but rotated it to landscape. I kept the lines to have consistently, but used a different color to suit the photo. The website I mention is the existing one for the national parks website which also have the black rectangle to point you to their apps. Originally I wanted to have a QR-code on the back but the website and leaflets from the NPS doesn't have one. All the photos are by me. I still have to make 2 extra pages to complete my magazine. I don't know if I'm going to print it, maybe I will try to make a flipover as mentioned in the last Q&A and send the links to some people.
  9. I consider myself lucky when I read about both your problems. I got an email saying there was an update and I had to open Affinity and there was a popup asking me if I wanted to install 2.6. I said yes and I was taken to the download page and after using my Affinity password was able to install it. The program closed after installation and when I reopened it, it was in 2.6.
  10. Nice you also are going to use Affinity. I'm still on the 90 days free trial, but I already decided that I will buy it afterwards. I like to learn something new and here is a lot to learn...............
  11. Cristina I have updated to 2.6 as well but had made day 5 just before and when I yesterday wanted to use that technique again I had the same problem as you! I haven't found why and will have to look into this some more. Please let us know if you find an explanation and I will do that too.
  12. I'm making some extra pages for my magazine with more photos I want to use. I used 2 of the extra diamond templates, but adjusted them to accommodate the photos. I rearrange the order in which they will be presented. On the right page is a photo of one of the informationboards around the area and above it is a photo of the sign at the entrance of the Grove.
  13. Rene not be able to put your text in reminded me at a somewhat similar problem I had in Affinity. In the end it had nothing to do with the text as such but with the layer where that text was suppoost to go. That layer was not selected with the move tool and then nothing happens. Maybe your problem was different though.
  14. It certainly has a Dutch image! The marks on the back are difficult to read, but it could be "Porseleinen Fles" which means porcelain bottle. The image resembles a bottle as far as I can see and the blue stripes will be the makers mark. In the old days there were a number of potteries in Delft, but Delfts Blue is also made in England. There are many publications, on line too, about all the different marks. So if you fancy a study..........
  15. Day 6 and I have a photo that is fitting for this kind of layout. You feel very small when you are standing in front of those giant trees. I plan to use more pages for my magazine and depending on the photos I want to use I'll pick a template or adjust one. For me when doing a workshop I mostly use the templates as is, this way I just seem to learn better new things. Later on after understanding the new techniques I can be more fancy and adjust or make my own. In the end I probably will rearrange the pages of my magazine.
  16. Jeni I had the same problem with clipping my images to the photo placeholders when I started this journey with Affinity. I followed some tutorials on the many videos that are available and there someone mentioned that it goes best if you drag not the image itself but the icon down to the icon of the placeholder. Since I do that it works for me.
  17. Day 5 I just split the big photo layer into two because I wanted to use these 2 photos anyways. I want my magazine to follow a certain logical line to get a more or less coherent story. When you visit the park there is a road through a tunnel where the view over the park is iconic. Photos taken on this spot called tunnel view are in all advertisements, flyers, posters and on almost everything you can buy in the village shop. At this point is a rather big parking area, everybody wants to take that photo, I was lucky when we were there it was not crowded.
  18. I like your idea to make a magazine for your children about their ancestry!
  19. So lovely and when I see all those layouts with dogs or cats I almost wish I had some.
  20. Besides the main updates for object selection I 'm very happy with the update for the color picker. After choosing a color with the picktool the new color is immediately applied to what you want to color and you no longer have to go to the colorwheel and click on the new color you choose. Some clicks less!
  21. I got an email from Affinity with the announcement of the update and have installed it immediately. I read about the object selection tool but hadn't time to follow a video. First I wanted to finish day 4. This will make Affinity even more attractive for me and it is fantastic that Carol got us the 90 days trial which gives us a real chance to get to know it,
  22. Day 4 and more waterfall photos, but they are so impressive in the spring. At the site of the Breidalveil fall we were soaked and it was impossible to take photos at the highest lookout platform. Even on the big overview photos you can see the mist around the fall, the wind blows it even further away. Maybe I will make the text bold for better readability. I couldn't help myself and put a little umbrella in.🙂
  23. So sweet!
  24. Rene I feel I would like to go to that museum and see for myself. I love glass and whenever I was in a situation I could visit a glass museum or glass blower's workshop I went to take a look.
  25. I read somewhere that bees indeed curl up in flowers to seek shelter from the rain and these look so cute! For consolation Februari has now only 8 days more before it will be March 😘However you managed to do a really lovely layout in the style that fits you to the tee!
