October ALL ABOUT ME Challenge (2024) - Clothing
Corrie Kinkel replied to Cassel's topic in Challenges
I don't recall anything special from my early childhood. Fabric was still only available (after WWII) if you had enough coupons and there wasn't much choice either. One of my aunts knew a good seamstress and she often used an old coat of my mom or dad to make one for me. Old dresses, skirts or blouses from my cousins came my way, it was a real treat when I got something new. Later of course the situation improved and we could buy in the shops but because the seamstress had to earn a living too much of my clothes were still made by her. I hated to have to go for a fitting session because of all the pins in whatever I had to try on. When I was in my teens and starting in highschool there were lot of fashion shops and that's the background for my layout and story. It took some time to find what I wanted for this layout but luckily Marissa Lerin has a minikit called Scotland and that is were I found the buttons, cluster and plaid paper which I used to make a title. The mannequin is also from Marissa and the dress comes of a freebie with different dresses. The skirts and loafers are from the internet. Background is made with 2 papers by Anna Aspness and the whole layout is based on the template Lab 10-4. -
Too many hobbies, well can one ever have too many?........ I missed you here but noticed on FB that you were doing ok! It will be nice to see what kind of calendar you are going to do this year.

Thanks and I had two layers for each balloon with the 80 in it and shadowed the back layer with a very light shadow almost but not quite a reverse shadow with a low opacity. Balloons, at least mine are translucent and that means to me they will cast only a very light shadow. But to be honest I was surprised to see the result I got because it worked as well on the confetti balloons which only had 1 layer. You just have to give it a try and think what kind of shadow balloons will give in the real world 🎈

Thanks Michele and I have my own system of storing the goodies I collect and for most of them it is quite easy to categorize them, but in this whole lot there are some that don't belong to any of my categories. I'll have to make a new one but I'll do that after I have looked into them and see where I can put them. -
Although the Nordic lights were visible in my country, we didn't see anything! Where I live there is simply too much lightpollution and there isn't an uninterrupted view of the sky. A lot of trees, streetlamps and light from the glasshouses that shine very brightly and far. One benefit of all the trees is that their leaves are starting to change color!

Something totally different and not what I make often. This card is for my very dear friend who will be turning 80 in a couple of weeks. It is just a miracle she is still among us and I have sent her a card every week when she had chemo with a lot of complications in the early days of the covid pandemic. She is doing well but has a lot of side effects from the ongoing treatment. She always loves birthdays with all that comes with it like pendants, flags, garlands around her chair, balloons and so on. Of course I could have made a nice card with some flowers but I have sent so many like that to her that I wanted something different this time. I have a couple of balloons in my stash and changed the colors to my liking for this card. Duplicated each of the recolored ones, put 80 between the two layers and reduced the opacity of the top balloon. In my stash are some translucent balloons with confetti in them, so I made confetti with cass-ConfettiMaker script also round and in the same colors. That confetti in a smaller size is inside the text too. It will be a double card with my logo on the back, probably with a small balloon as well. My birthday wishes will be handwritten inside. I sincerely hope she will like it.....

I have the same "problem" and have accumulated so much that I sometimes forget what I have or where it could be stored. Most of the time that is straightforward but with a some of these goodies there isn't a logical place to put them. I still have them all together as well and will look into it after a couple of weeks. October is always the busiest month for me due to many birthdays and appointments. But I'll survive....... -
Wow, I like your playing around!

Lovely Cristina and we are fortunate that Julie shared that tip with us. I'm still unpacking all the goodies and I used some alredy.

Me too but apparently I have no luck! In some places in Belgium and the Netherlands it could be witnessed but where I live we had a cloudy sky with some rain. I'll try again tonight, fingers crossed!

The cluster is visible although barely but Jupiter is very clear.
-
It is an amazing light show from mother nature and you are so lucky to live in an area where it is visible. I hope that I once in my lifetime will have the opportunity to witness it too.🙏

Sorry for the question; I found the registration mail which had gone to my spam folder where it normally never goes.......😕

Carole how many photos will we need for this year's calendar?
-
Love both you new layouts and admire all the work you put into the weeks. There haven't been a background the same and they all go beautifully with the colors of your cups/saucers or teapots.

I can wholeheartedly agree to this. It helps me in the periods when my husband is ill.

S = Sagrada Familia a church in Barcelona by Gaudi and only recently finished after approximately 100 years.

You get used to it and when I'm using English I think in English most of the time. All things scrapbook related are in English for me and I find it sometimes difficult to explain in Dutch what I do to a friend. 😃

I will be there as well and it will be my 5th calendar workshop. When I'm finished with all the months I'll print the calendar and use it for some gifts. One of the recipients of the last 4 has already inquired if there will be a new one and if so what the theme is going to be! I have used up most of my flower photos in the earlier versions, so this year it will be all about mushrooms; I have quite a lot of photos about those.

Julie you did a superb page and kept true to your delicate style! It seems that there are a lot of us that don't like it too glittery! I often have to rethink and retry different ways and layouts before I finally decide on the one that you all can see here! Sometimes it is a hate or love affair.

Ok, sometimes it can be difficult to grasp a meaning in another language then my own!

Thank you, but I'm happy with this color. I tried others but those didn't do it for me. Of course when it comes to colors it always is a personal preference. However the reverse shadow is missing.
