Subjects are part of my camera collection. I got a start from my parents and my grandfathers old cameras they had over the years. I had always liked them even before I started photography. This one was from my grandfather. I have also found some real gems in thrift stores over the years. They have become popular again and very rarely do I find them in thrift stores anymore. Their prices have risen with the times as well. Nice, job, Suz. This cover is stunning with its mix of blacks, grays and a touch of red and gold. Your entire magazine workshop is excellent. 6

Love your work! thank you so much Mary. yes, it sure feels good. It's being there, in the back of my mind for a long time. Thank you for your wonderful words about my work. I'm having fun learning how to photograph this kind of stuff. Watching tutorials during covid (I was on the ones that worked through it all) gave me the confidence to try it. 2

Can you imagine using them? I wouldn't know how to use one that old! My first camera was a hand me down from my brother. It was a Kodak Instamatic with the film cartridge and square flash cubes! I do love to take photos! 4

Sue Thomas Posted August 8 Posted August 8 (edited) These Bumble Bees can be found from Alaska to California. Including here on the Saskatchewan prairies. The rather long word, means Beautiful. I created 2 rows of embosed bees, using the repeat script. Which doesn't show up very well, due to compression. The background paper is yet another photo of the frozen lake. I LOVE that word! Will you be putting this on FB? I can see the rows of embosed bees and would love to see that bigger. such a nice touch and surprise to use to discover. I remember when you discovered that cutout method (for lack of a better description) you use on your layouts. they are so interesting to look at, and it really steps it up several notches in design. 2 1 1

I remember when you discovered that cutout method (for lack of a better description) you use on your layouts. they are so interesting to look at, and it really steps it up several notches in design. If my memory serves me well, I gave a sort of tutorial on how to do the cut out. I always use vector shapes, then use from vector shape, and expand to remove from around the photos. That way the cut outs are sharp, no jagged edges. Quite simple really, yet gives the pages, as you say step them up a notch. I will post it on FB. I found a vector bee on CF. Did the plus and minus using the cutout tool, on separate layers, merged down, then used Carole's repeate script to save time, to create a row of them. Edited August 8 by Sue Thomas 3
Susan Ewart Posted August 8 Posted August 8 (edited) Magazine Workshop 2024 page 1 (lesson 2 of the workshop) Before I forget; the background paper is from bgazarek_crisp-fall-fair-paper-03 (DigitalScrapbook.com). I changed the color of to fit the layouts. this is one of my grandfathers cameras and I think it is stunning in design. It's just a really pretty camera. In the reflection you can see the leaver at the bottom that folds out to advance the film. Great design! Why didn't Ricoh design super cars instead of photocopiers, they would've kept the camera line because, sexy cars and sexy cameras is cool. But sexy photocopiers, I don't think so. Mary Solaas Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Lab 15 Mod 6 (I'm in June - nearly up to date). Requirements: Outlined text - title; Tight Flip Diagonal (again) - background paper. I used Cassel's Photo Circle Template script for the circle of pics; and I used my doodle flowers and butterfly as elements and embellished the doodle flowers with a copy of a leaf I used in one of the early labs for a crayon rubbed leaf. 7

Sue Thomas Posted August 9 Posted August 9 It is that time of year again, the drawing close of another season, when the Hummers arrive on or around the 2nd Aug, and stay until the end of the month. Making their long jounrney back south for the winter. Always a joy to see them. I know it's almost a week, but I have been intending to go over some of the techiniques demonstrated in last weeks masterclass. 8

Great photos and a nice demonstration of the techniques from that masterclass. The small detail of the out of bounds of the birds make it much more interesting to look at. 3 1 2
