Alphabet Photo Challenge - A

I used to knit when my kids were young, but haven't done so for quite a while; to much strain on my hands. When we moved house I got rid of all those knitting needles, but I have kept my sewing machine to be able to do repairs or making my husband trousers shorter. When I was younger I made a lot of my clothes myself, but not anymore.

Ditto for me. My mom could sew anything, but no knitting. I learned to crochet as well, but haven't done it in decades.

We either, I was a lefty being taught by a righty.  I eventually did bead crochet necklaces.  Oh, maybe I can show those in this challenge at some point.

You have 3 different letters that could be used... B - Bead, C - Crochet, N - Necklace.

I've been making a list in OneNote of ideas for each letter. Some work for different letters. By making the list I can figure out which letter will work best.

I will give it a try. I made my template and will use it throughout, but will be changing the background color to suit the photo.  This is my alarm clock. The description font is AdventureIsland Script Bold, and the Letter font is ChalkZone.

I turned off my computer (laptop) last night and when I opened it this morning, it was uploading Windows 11.  UGH!!!!!!! I hate automatic takeovers!!!!!!!!

This is a good idea because i'll think of a something for a letter then see something shiny and I forget.  I'll have to do this for sure.

Here is my letter A - my oldest cat Adam looking regal. Using the cass-CustomPhotoCard script and the font is Algerian. I like the effect of the mirrored image.

Well Mary look at the bright side of it, the decision if you should update or not is taken for you. I have Windows 11 since it came available without a problem. You will get used to it!

I have been making a list also, but just an old-fashioned one on paper. In this manner I can quickly write it down if I think of something. At the moment I have nearly all the letters covered, I'm still missing the D, R and U and it made the decision which language to use much more simple. I'll be using English and give the Dutch names in my comments; you will be surpprised to see that certain words will be almost the same in both languages.

Just a question: is it necessary to present the finished layouts in alpha order? Or can they be as we think of an object for the letter, even if out of alpha order?

Just to keep things organized and have the photos matching the thread title, so far, we only have A. In 3 or 6 months, you will be able to get back to any thread and post there.

At this point, we are just starting and there is only the A thread to showcase photos (but you can prepare for upcoming threads if you want!)

Ja hier maar eens proberen aan me te doen. Een beetje plezier maken. Alle stof is zorgvuldig verwijderd Julie, Ok, de Appels zijn al een beetje oud. maar dan smaken ze lekkerder. En de glazen vaas komt uit het appartement van mijn man. En doet hier nu bij mij dienst als fruitbowl. En ik zie op de foto dat dan alle stof wel weggepoetst is, maar ik had het glas ook wel kunnen poetsen........... En gelijk maar een kort lesje Nederlandse taal. Bij ons heten ze ook appels alleen een klein verschil in letterring/ Wij schrijven APPEL jullie APPLE. allebei zetten we een S als MEERVOUD. De uitspraak is een klein beetje anders. Die eerste letter de A. Is bij ons een deftige A alsof er een hete aardappel in je keel dwars zit. Zoals de koningin van Engeland het uit zou spreken. Zoals de A in het Engelse Dance en veranderd nooit in een E. Het font heet BONSAI

Oh, Jannette. I love this and in the picture it doesn't look like the vase needs polishing.  I believe I see a banana behind the vase and 2 avacados in front. That looks like a beautiful wooden tray that they are in. The apples look good enough to eat. Such a beautiful way to use something that belonged to your husband - a beautiful reminder.

Ja Maria, Ik vind het ook fijn dit soort dingen van hem neer te zetten. Maar er dan een andere bestemming voor te kiezen. Hij had het alleen maar ter decoratie staan. En het staat op een houten bak. Waar nu ook weer de andere vruchten bij liggen. Omdat het immers om De A van Appels ging. Ik houd van natuurlijke dingen. zoals hout en touw. Riet marmer. enz. De houten bak staat op een lade kastje. Als ik hier vaker aan me ga doen dan zul je het wel vaker vinden omdat het ideaal is om dingen op te zetten.

The first thing that came into my head when I thought of the letter A: my dad's photo album. That was the easy part. The challenge was to choose the layout I would want to use for all letters of the alphabet. I think this one is generic enough to allow me colour changes and element placements to mix it up a bit.

I chose B&W this time b/c of the subject. That album is a treasure, but it contains images of unnamed people (from the 1930s or so) whom I know are somehow related to me. But there are no identifiers on so many pictures. I call it "Dad's Mystery Album", and so it will remain despite my best research efforts.

The threads are there to show very tenuous connections that exist.

Dat heb ik ook. Alleen niet in een album maar in een grote doos. Helemaal vol met oude foto's tussen 1875 en 1950. Bij mij zijn het mijn overgrootvader en overgrootmoeder en hun nakomelingen en wellicht vrienden. Ik heb er heel veel tijd ingestoken en heb er vele herkend. Maar lang niet allemaal. En wat moet ik met de rest????? Omdat ik het niet weet, blijft de doos staan. Tot wanneer?????? Ik heb de doos geërfd van een nicht van mijn vader. Die zelf geen nakomelingen had.

Jannette heel fijn dat je het al kan opbrengen om weer met iets mee te gaan doen. Voor deze challenge is niet heel veel werk nodig en het verzet de zinnen ook een beetje.
