Cassel Posted October 1 Posted October 1 It is a new month and new projects. Show off what you are working on in October be it a scrapbook page, a collage, a tutorial, or anything else you want. We are curious and want to see, learn, and get inspired. These threads are quickly becoming a fantastic source of inspiration, support, and friendship. Keep them coming! Remember to size down your image to about 600x600 pixels and save it in .jpg format before posting it (if you are creating a double page, you can resize it to 1000 pixels in width if you don't want to post the pages separately). Here are a few guidelines for everyone: when you post a project, give as much information on your sources or techniques used. It will help others who are curious and would like to do the same. if someone uses something that you like on their page, ask where they got it. Sometimes, you can go get it too and it will be better quality than trying to extract it (as it would have been resized to post in the forum anyway). if it is something that they did from scratch, ask how they did it. It would be so helpful to everyone! if you like a photo and would like to “play with it”, ALWAYS ask permission. Sometimes, there are some limitations and the person is not allowed to let others use it. Don’t get them in trouble. Usually, people are happy to say yes (if they can) when you ask politely. And if you get permission, you might get a better-quality image than the resized image anyway.
Ann Seeber Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Here's my monthly Wild Cat Calendar. This one features two leopards, a pair, one spotted and the other black. The photographer, Mitha Hunugund, based in India, was published in National Geographic Nature. The title font is Babilonia and the story is Arial. The pumpkin sticker is from Sheila Reid. The calendar template is from Carole Cassel for our Calendar Workshop on the Campus in Nov. of 2023. The version posted on Facebook is full size and prints @ 8.5" x 11". 1 5

It was amazingly fast, considering that nowadays, I take a long time to decide on colors, papers, and elements, so I have something I like or can live with. 😄 One interesting thing happened while working with the cat (Eyespire). I wanted to add a bevel and started playing with the "Randomize Parameters. " At one point, the cat's eyes turned red, which fitted perfectly with the theme (setting below). For the background, I selected the girls, promoted the selection to a new layer, and used the "Time Machine" filter (Effects>PhotoEffects>TimeMachine>Daguerreotype & Albumen) on the background and some of the elements/text. Cristina Posted October 6 Posted October 6 (edited) Instead of 12x12, this time, I created a layout with 8,5x11 dimensions. It does feel unusual, but I am trying to get used to it. I tried to use some of Anna Aspnes's freebies (MegaPack Plus Class) and elements from other designers, some of whom I recently got to know. Cristina Posted October 7 Posted October 7 This morning, I watched the Halloween Effects2 Masterclass, and I loved the trick of using the Quick Script to speed up a technique I have used quite a few times since I learned it from the Pop-Up Masterclass. Back then, it was shown using the long way. It's good to learn both ways of doing it! Great effects are taught in this class. 👏 2

Trouble is, I don't take many pix so I have to rely on finding them somewhere. In this case, the photographer's name (at bottom of layout) is a local guy (Windsor, Ontario) who travels around and creates some great images. I lifted this one from his recent FB post. I've started delving into the Anna Aspnes goodies that I downloaded and most of the background is from her designs. There's some Katie Pertiet elements in there too. The camera brad was in my Autumn stash, and the transparent label is from dhariana and I forget what site that was from. So basically, I did nothing more than make frames for the image, then just shuffled a bunch of stuff around! But I enjoyed doing it! Thank you so much, Julie! 💟 I also love seeing old photos and would love to create pages with them, but I have very few family photos or my own. The ones I have were sent by a cousin some time ago, who found copies when a family member passed away. Somehow, they were lost when my mother was moving to different houses; I was far away, and my brothers were not interested in that at the time. But I still have photos of Mom and Dad in my memory even before they were married, also as teenagers. 🙂 3

When I create pages using mostly designer resources, I see it as a learning process. I pay attention to how they created the cluster, added a brush, a texture, or whatever. Maybe later, if I remember, I can try to replicate it using my own resources—at least the ones I can create myself! 3 1

This image went viral and he became quite well-known across the world. You can google Bruce. I kept it really simple since the photo is so stunning. 3 6

I often take screenshots of layouts I like so that I can try to replicate them using my stash. It's a great way to learn and have fun. But sometimes, it doesn't work out so well, but that's valuable too. 4

I also love the fact that you took the colours from the image, making the layout an extention of the photo. 4 1

After taking Carole's Basic Scrap Courses, I wanted to continue because they taught me not only scrapbooking but, more importantly, PSP. I had no experience with scrapping, so I would search the Internet for ideas for layouts. I had created folders with ideas for one-photo layouts, two-photo layouts, etc. Sometimes, it was the color palette or the title that caught my attention. A long time ago, I replicated "a photo mat," created with paper ribbons. And I haven't stopped learning since then! 4
