Sometimes, we have fairly vivid memories of events when we were very young and this is one of them.
As a preschooler (i told you i was very young) one of my favorite “snack” was a slice of bread, with butter and sugar on it. Even before i could clearly speak, i would ask for “croute-sucre-beurre” (which would translate to “crust-sugar-butter”).
I was born with thin straight hair, but i always envied those with nice curls. When going at the hairdresser with my mom (you read last week’s story, didn’t you?), i was dreaming of having long curly hair. Until i started school, at four an a half, i always had short hair because my great-grandmother used to say that cutting hair on full moon would make them thicker so i think my hair was cut short every full moon (ok maybe not every one). That never worked but mom always tried until then.
When we are kids, we often get in various situations because of our curiosity, or lack of experience. Some of those situations can be funny, sad, scary or just strange, but they always stick in our memory.
I was not a child that got into too much trouble, but I was curious and lack of experience got me in the following odd situation. Read on.
Humans are creatures of routines. Our whole life is composed of various routines, whether we like it or not. Some routines are more rigid, some are more flexible but they are still there.
Meal time is, in itself, a routine too. Usually, we will eat the main course before dessert, right? Some foods seem to go naturally together, some not. But those rules and routines are often personal, and specific to each family.
In our household, Wednesday night is called spaghetti night. And it has been the case for many years now. We almost always have spaghetti on Wednesday, and it is funny when we have something else on that day, or when spaghetti is served on another day. Do you want to know why?
If you are doing paper crafts, using square corners is often the easiest way to cut shapes. Adding an even rounding on all corners might be tedious if you did it by hand, but you can use a cutting tool to make the process faster. In digital scrapbooking (or digital crafts), unless you use a preset shape, square corners are also easier. However, there are simple ways to round any shape, and using PaintShop Pro, it is even easier than you think.
Storms are one of nature’s mean of communication: its way of yelling at us! Well, maybe not. But storms, in various forms, are part of life everywhere. Whether it is a tornado, a hurricane, a monsoon, a blizzard, we have all gone through many storms in our lifetime (and it is not over either). These storms can be the starting points of various life events, some sad, some interesting, some happy.
Have you ever been witness to a big storm? What surrounded that time? This can be yet another scrapbooking idea even if you don’t have a photo to prove that you were there. Will you record it?
With all the available tools and products for digital scrapbookers, why would anyone want to scrap with black and white photos? Aren’t photos the heart of memory keeping? For many people, it is. If you have made a layout, mostly from scratch, you might want to turn it into a layered template, either for selling, or giving away as a freebie, or simply to reuse later for a similar project. This is a very simple process, although it could take a while, depending on the number of layers you have on your current layout.
Almost everyone and his brother now has a portable phone, whether it is a top of the line smart phone, or a less advanced flip phone. How many stories do you have related to a phone, even an old one?
Many years ago, as i had a job out of town, if i wanted to call home, i had to make it a collect call. Back in those days, there was no automated system to do that, so we had to dial “0” and talk to an operator who would do that task and ask the person if they accepted the charges.
