Mary, I agree. I found these masks the most interesting part of the class.

Just a question, did you bring a gift 🎁 and who ended up with it? 😉

that reminds me of my Aunt Bess who tried to make pea soup in a pressure cooker. That ceiling always had a greenish cast to it... 😉

Speaking of fires, I always sauteed the filet of venison 🦌 when a hunter delivered for us. I added a dash of brandy at the end to create venison flambe. Well, this one wouldn't light, sooo... I added more brandy. When lighting it, the flames shot up and consumed my kitchen curtains! 🔥

Your pizza story reminds me of my pizza conflagration! 🔥🔥 Our pizza was delivered but no one was ready for it yet, so I turned on the oven to keep it warm. Put it in the oven, box and all. Next thing I knew, the box caught on fire, so I whipped the door open and flung it on the kitchen floor. Unfortunately, there was a throw rug on that floor so it, also, caught on fire!! Luckily, my sink had a spray attachment!😁

Suz, I am sure I'm not as discerning as you about blacks and whites. Prices on everything have jumped here mostly caused by corporate greed so who knows what I'll pay this year!?!

All my classwork is done in 300dpi so no conversions were needed. Staples didn't ask for CMYK. I was working in .jpg and that was fine.

@Donna Sillia I took my calendar pages to a local Staples Stationary outlet. They printed it, punched holes and added a comb to the top so it could be hung on a wall. It cost me under $20 and the results were awesome. I just used the full-size pages as jpgs. Here's the cover and back page I made last time...

I changed my mind about my pages ie: I moved the photo from January to the front cover since I also have another topic I want to feature for the zoo, their adventurous zipline ride and the dinosaur experience. I will make a back cover also since I need two new areas to fill. Here's my front cover.

Nice job on all, Dan. I'm sure your family will love them!

@Mary Solaas Check your emails as Carole sent a correction that included the correct link. Didn't intend QPs. It is actually Lesson 8 talking about shadows on these pages. Hopefully this LINK will work.

I love your color sense. It really makes a difference with your calendars.

Yes, I discovered that also. I've had fun experimenting with a series of background mats, etc., to control the colors.

You're welcome

Julian, I use promoted layers a lot as I can select an area, promote it to a new layer and whatever I do to it doesn't impact the original. Usually with these calendars, I'm able to isolate the frame for the photo and work on that, independent of the mask, though in certain cases, I had to slide the promoted layer up out of the group totally.

And here's December featuring one of the Nashville Zoo's Giant Tortoises. The background is a paper that I colorized. I've been using the same fonts throughout.

Oh, that reminds me. I forgot about slipping a photo or graphic behind the date grid. Actually, I did it on my monthly calendars occasionally. I didn't use a mask, just sized the art to fit.

Corrie, I have used both. It's just what fits the feeling of the photo and masking. Plus, I'm flexible when experimenting like this. 😉

I consider this November page as totally finished, instead of preliminary as are the rest of mine. This time I added a title and journaling. The title is filled with a rainbow metallic gradient. The fonts are Play On and Playfair Display. Again I used a few promoted layers moved up to be outside the group in order to create the frame and mat effects. This is really a fun workshop!

Wow, Julian, all your pages are gorgeous! 😍

I announced my plans to add journaling on my post for September which will include common names if I can.

Hi Suz - I had to resort to promoted selections and even had to park those up out of the group. These mask groups are really different but I'm getting the hang of it now.

And here's October - the Tapirs are designated Endangered. This zoo has a breeding program for them. The background paper is ID_AllThatsFall and the pumpkin sticker is from Sheila Reid.
