  1. Here's the original Bevier House on Huguenot Street in the center photo in this June layout.
  2. WEEK 30 = SUN AUG 4 for me. I'm just catching up here! Still delving into the ancestry of my father's family in Ulster County. The original 1698 Bevier house on Huguenot Street in New Paltz became a general store and the Bevier's purchased farmland in nearby Marbletown. This home was quite an upgrade from the New Paltz original. This 1740 Bevier house is now a museum.
  3. Mary, your layouts are very beautiful! Your persistence with the Labs is really paying off.
  4. I don't follow any specific sport except the major horseraces like the Kentucky Derby. My tv connection for streaming went out last week and I ended up watching the Olympics on cable for lack of a better choice. I was lucky enough to catch Simone Biles with her routines and that was very satisfying. I didn't have to be an enthusiast of the Olympics to appreciate her talent. I also get annoyed on weekends when sports seem to dominate the cable channels and I'm appreciative of my streaming device where I can watch anything, old or new, on my own terms.
  5. Oh, this sounds like a good idea. I do like scraplifts!
  6. Me, too. Nice it is something brand new! 😊
  7. P = push a boundary
  8. Grandson Tyler had an adventure in July with a singles vacation in Bali, Indonesia. The flight was very long but luxurious hosted by Qatar Airlines. He was delighted to be hooked up with 4 single women for the tours. This is just a template from my stash. The Bali logo is from a search which produced this on a t-shirt, and I added the date. Enjoy!
  9. Finishing up July, here's my Week 29, showcasing my grandson Tyler's recent vacation trip to Bali, Indonesia. He's pictured here at the Tegenungan Waterfall.
  10. Here is my monthly Wildcat Calendar for August. I also posted it on Scrapbooking with Paintshop Pro | Facebook in 8.5" x 11" size for printing.
  11. I usually say they're so ugly, they're cute! 😉
  12. I think the most surprising to me is the flocks of Canada geese and the flocks of black vultures that hang about on the roof here in the city of Middletown. I do see white-tailed deer, skunks, groundhogs, chipmunks, many songbirds and woodpeckers, and our community cats.
  13. I think the main text is readable but not the Dumped/Stray in the sidebar. Here it is in text form: D/SA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue founded in 2017 in Middletown, New York. The organization aims to: ~reduce the population of stray animals using trap-neuter-release ~provide medical, physical and emotional support to abandoned and stray animals ~make all attempts to safely re-home non-feral animals, and provide a safe haven for feral cats ~promote responsible pet ownership and provide humane education within the community We are an all volunteer organization maintaining a small shelter and feral cat retirement village. Our volunteers and foster families work tirelessly to ensure that shelter and food are provided for all local and homeless animals.
  14. Here's my final entry in the Story Time Workshop. Rescuing cats is my favorite charity. I used a kit from the Pixelscrapper Blog Train called Cat's Rule by Magnolia.
  15. Actually, yes, it is there on the QP for me also. I think I might try covering it with the clone tool, only because I tend to fiddle with stuff like that!
  16. My mother was quite disappointed when I signed up for Spanish in high school. She had done French and wanted someone else in the family to appreciate it. Unfortunately, she never confided her wishes in me, so I just chose Spanish, like my girlfriends. Also, unfortunately, I hated it and kept skipping class which did not put me on the teacher's pet list. I had to repeat Spanish One and then I did Two and when I started college, picked it up again, to no avail. I learned more when we visited Mexico than I ever did in classes.
  17. Oh, my! That does bring back a ton of memories from my childhood in Rutherford. Even girls played with the pink hi-bouncers!
  18. about that, I do think "coup" is French... j/s
  19. Ah, Suz, that looks like my favorite template, too, especially how you dress it up! I think there's a chance for you to go back and test the "way-back" of text wrapping as there's a spelling error on the 3rd line. It's more of a homophone, actually! You really "flew the coop" (like chicken coop) rather than "coup" which is more political and an overthrow of a government and is actually pronounced "coo." 😉❤️
  20. When I was young I was afraid to swim in either the ocean, lake or pool. My mother told me she blamed my dad who literally threw me in the ocean when I was about 2 years old, claiming that was how to teach a child to swim. This photo shows me with a friend when I was five, enjoying the mild surf at Far Rockaway, on the Long Island, NY, shore. When I was about seven, my mother sent me to the nearby Passaic, NJ, YWCA and I took swimming classes. I got to really enjoy swimming, advancing to diving and water ballet before I was done with my lessons.
  21. STORY TIME - LESSON 6 - FEAR. My fear of the water has a bit of story behind it. I dug up this really old photo of me and a friend from 1946 when our families went to the beach at Far Rockaway. We were from Rutherford, NJ, but our friends were from Flushing, Queens, so Far Rockaway beach it was! I'm on the right, age 5 and Linda was 4. The title font at the bottom is Horror Story and I decided to add a little stroke in black. I was surprised the font added scatters instead of strokes on the letters. The journaling text is Bell MT and I used the new By the Sea font to add the line of seabirds under the photo. Cass photo corners. I had a hard time trying to scan this old black & white photo and ended up using my iPhone and taking a picture of it. That worked out much better! I used a kit from Marisa Lerin called Under the Sea-mini with the lesson six template. I think I will post the text separately for readability in the comments.
  22. You just needed a dog under the table. They usually like liver... j/s
  23. That's an amusing story for me, Anne, because I didn't like it either so my Dad sprinkled the spinach with vinegar and grated parmesan cheese... YUM! 😊
  24. Planet of the Apes, indeed! 😲
  25. STORY TIME-LESSON 5 - FOOD - I recreated this from 2 years ago but made many changes.
