I know, I know, this "game" is almost over but I won't give it up completely. A little bit frustrated because I ddin't manage to stay on it. At least Day 1, 2 and 3.

Just a small correction, I added the wrong postmark a few minutes ago.

I went through this (not as bad as Carole) when I made a product for the rubber stamp community.  I had a commerical order from a stamp maker and she used solvent to clean the product I made which caused cracking of the product.  When she informed me i asked her to give me a couple hours as I was going to go the the raw material supplier to see why this was happening, which turned out be the solvent (they were 45 min drive away).  By the time I went there, had the meeting and got back home she has smeared me and my product all over the craft forums (I never saw it as I didnt follow them but was informed by a friend who did).  So I sent out a return for refund letter to every client, and only this one client took the refund.  Luckily, most sent me nice emails that they were happy with the product and were keeping it.  I stopped production and that very client asked me: "So, can I make an order?".  It was a relief to get rid of that, as it was labour intensive and took me away from my main source or income (silversmithing and glass art).  Social media wasnt as big as it is now, what Carole went through was horrible.  Especially the one who took credit for someone else's work.  Strong nerves and the ability to keep calm.  I think if I had looked at the forums where my client was bashing me, I would have acted in a bad way.  I wanted to remain as professional as possible.  Not always easy as it's a very personal attack.

What a horrible experience, too, Susan!   It's even worse because we are not used to this kind of behavior.   As you said, strong nerves and the ability to keep calm like an angel! ?

The discussion about "thieving" can be interesting and as Susan says, we all imitate in some way, and learning is about copying what we see (until we learn by messing up). There is a big difference between copying an idea to "play with" versus copying an idea and taking the credit.

Many years ago, someone saw a new product in a store and she bought it, however, it was limited to 4 particular words, and she had no use for those words. She asked me if I could code a script to allow her to use other words and other fonts. I did. However, at the time, I didn't know who had designed the product I was recreating, and it caused a HUGE uproar when designers started calling me a thief because I "stole an idea" that one designer had created and it was very unique. They said I was just going to cause her to lose all sales because "everyone" would buy the script instead of her PNG product. That turned out to be a horrible week of name-calling in a very popular forum. That is, until one designer recognized the technique from an online tutorial. It turned out that the designer who claimed to have "created that unique effect" was, in fact, just copying it. She was using the same text, the same font, the same settings, and claiming it HERS and "never done before". In the process, *I* was called a thief.

All that to say we all get inspired by something else, whether it is another digital project, a TV ad, a craft tutorial, or even nature! Being inspired is one thing. Taking credit is just something else.

Carole, I can only imagine how upsetting it was for you until everything was clarified. ?

And the person who cried the loudest was the one who took credit for somebody else's work. One needs strong nerves to deal with this situation!

Yet another layout inspiration I saw online. I didn't scraplift it entirely, just the basic idea. Background paper is from the Lilypad, a set of Fusion papers called "For Art's Sake". Then added the elements & text for the theme of books. Nothing much is mine, except the frame. I do love books and reading and do it whenever I find time. I met a man in a book club once who worked in an automotive assembly plant. He had a book with him all the time as he worked. If he could complete his part of the assembly in less time than allotted, he would read as much as he could, even if it was only 30-40 seconds at a time. I think that's amazing. (The quote is from Stephen King.)

Julie, I like the layout very much!   I like a lot this kind of background paper.  I have to remember to use them more often.

I also love reading; I always have books and the Kindle on the bedside table.

At least winter is coming and most of the outside chores will go away until next year.

Yeahh, I am delaying everything (Travel Tale, Scripting Group Course) because of the warmer days... We are not wasting any opportunity to go out and enjoy the good weather because we know it will not last long...   I am sure next week I will see some Christmas cookies in the supermarket.  And, again, people will be surprised that Christmas is "only" 14 weeks away. ?

It's an interesting technique and no two papers are same.  And surprisingly easy to make.  although I still need to follow the tutorial as I have not committed it to memory yet.

I agree; the technique is easy, but I also have to follow the instructions. ?

I liked the color, as it's so different from what we initially get with a solid color... It looks like you added a Sepia toning effect...  It gave me an idea to use it as a subtle background.

I am always inspired by what everybody posts here!

    MASKS WORKSHOP - Lesson 6

This is a composite moon I took, one exposed for the moon and one exposed for the cloud below it.

the background paper is lino pattern found in "Tutorials" https://scrapbookcampus.com/element-creation-index/linoleum-pattern/ .  this is a very interesting tutorial to get very unique papers.

All the layouts prior to June 2023 are really dark, I had really bad monitors that couldnt be adjusted any further than they were. I didnt realize how light they were (I was darkening everything to compensate) until I saw some of the these layouts I'm posting this weekend.

Susan, you achieved a very interesting result for the linoleum background with whatever technique you used. I liked it a lot.

There was a time when I used the vector scripts often but at some point I couldn't get them to work anymore. It made me v-e-r-y happy to come across Carole's blog post Using the Vector Tube Script. I had forgotten that my paths needed to be converted to a path! Such a simple "fix". I am happily using those scripts again. This is the first image I tried the vector tube script on after coming across Carole's help.

The main pic is from another great clip art collection from Creative Fabrica. I tried to make it look like I was using a mask. First I Gaussian blurred the background paper. Then I magic wand selected outside the clip art, inverted, contracted, inverted again, and applied a Gaussian blur. I'm sure there's an easier way to achieve it, but I was in a huge time crunch; I even missed my deadline by about 15 mins. I have no idea where I got the little grapevines in the corners and I added a few versions of my game avatar (my members like to see them). The title font is Morning Dew and the swash is Avelana Deco Medi.

Needed to make a quick birthday greeting.  The photo was taken Sept 6th (Birthday was Sept 7th).  My friend loved corvids and this is the sun from the weird smoky apocalypic looking world we find ourselves in this summer.

Between all the other activities in the Campus and at home I have been working on a card for a dear friend who is turning 80 and it is a miracle he lived through all the medical conditions he has had in the last couple of years. He was and is now again an enthousiast golfer and plays golf one or two times a week. Therefore I made him a card with all kinds of golf accessories which I found on digitalscrapbook.com. It is a double card, but has a plain backside with my normal logo. On the card I used a couple of small masks to blend the images together because I didn't want sharp edges; duplicated a lot of the golf balls to put in the basket; the cup was very "ugly" colored so it is changed using Hue and Saturation. And last I used an Edge Punch. one of the last series I have bought, this one goes so well with the balls! Saturday we will have lunch in a posh restaurant with all his family and friends.

Corrie, this is such a lovely card!

Trying to work a bit more regularly on some kind of layout when I have the time. I saw one I liked on Curio Pantry so I thought I'd try something similar. I'm neither a photographer nor a scrapbooker, so I really need some kind of inspiration (or push).

It's so-o-o hot here, temperatures higher than all through the summer, but my thoughts are already on autumn and its marvellous colours.

The only things that are mine are the photo - my niece's daughter many years ago -  the strips of coloured paper with the ends cut out (one with Carole's new punches which I just HAD to have), and the "tag" at the bottom. Everything else is from somewhere online.

Julie, I love the colors, and the layout is lovely!

Scheduled for the short one but had to decide whether they could do the other procedure if something happens. I gave the consent for that. So as it stands I will be in over night but a slight possibility of a 5 or 6 day hospital stay with a much longer recovery.

Rene, I am sending you my best wishes and hope everything goes well during the surgery and recovery.   It's still a few weeks to go, but let us know how you are doing whenever possible. ?

There was a challenge in February 2018 called Love Story and this is Day 1. I can't find it anywhere, not even in the archives. Earlier in this topic @Cristina said it was redone as the Masks Workshop.

    Love Story Day 01 (2018_08_02 16_43_59 UTC) 600.jpg

Hi Michele, ?  I remember this layout very well, and as Suzy said, it is a beautiful tribute to your mom. I love these watercolor flowers.

I checked it again, and it was called "Love Story until 2021, but Carole recorded new videos for the 2020 edition. Last year, it was renamed as Mask Workshop.

I took a fast look at the Archives for the first time and also didn't see this Challenge, as it was called before. I wonder if it was lost during the change to the new platform.

  16. This page has been created following two tutorials: Wire Text and Polka Dot Pattern.  The last one is very easy to make but has a great effect, in my opinion.

It was for the " Love Story Challenge" (2018).  It has been renamed, and it is now "Masks Workshop".
