  1. Are you getting a bit more comfortable with the PSP tools?
  2. I tried, but it was a while ago, and I must have deleted the cookies (or eaten them).
  3. If this is a picture of her, she might be a bit too young. As for her name, I know that she might have changed it, but she might have done like me, and never changed it even if she married! 🙂
  4. Unfortunately, I don't remember. I was looking whether I might still have old letters from her, but it might have been discarded when we had water damage in the basement. That is the first thing I would have wanted to find. Same with her picture with the Miss Tasmania Junior banner she was wearing (with her three younger brothers). I assume there should not have been many Miss Tasmania Junior!
  5. You might have noticed the chatbot at the bottom of the Campus pages (not the forum though), and a handful of visitors have used his services. Some are just saying "hi", some have valid questions about their account. I tend to review all the conversations, in case someone needs help beyond what Markus is trained to do. Today, I came up with an... interesting conversation. Here is the screenshot (it is anonymous so I am not sure who will have lunch). I never "trained" Markus in the kitchen, so he is already "kitchen-smart" 🙂
  6. I know. But I HAD found a paper with a photo. If only I could find that again!
  7. This challenge has had great success in the past so we can continue to have it on a regular basis, don’t you think? Just like those “some assembly required” kits that you can buy for a shelf, a chair, or a picnic table, I am including a 3600×3600 pixels canvas with some shapes. You HAVE to use the shapes in the size and proportions they are. You can move them, rotate them, flip them, and rearrange the layering if you want but you cannot resize them. You need to use ALL the pieces but you can add more if you want. So it is like all the pieces to build a DIY shelf: you cannot change the size of the pieces but you can use them creatively. Obviously, you will want to recolor them or replace them with papers, photos, etc. We just need to be able to recognize the initial shapes. Here is a preview of the shapes involved. Because of the size of the shapes, there will obviously be overlaps. Will it be for papers or photos or both? That is up to you! Click here to download the layered template. Post your projects in the gallery.
  8. This is a worldwide community and I am taking a chance. I would love to reconnect with an old pen pal I had in my teens and early twenties. Her name was Sharon Philpott and she was from Tasmania. I had a picture of her with a banner as she was Miss Tasmania Junior, maybe around 1973-74 or so. She had three younger brothers and no sister. When searching a while ago, I had stumbled upon an article in a health magazine or something about a lady with that same name and from the photo, she would be around the right age (about 61-62). It was in Australia, but I cannot find that link anymore. I had sent an email to the magazine/newspaper asking for additional information but never received any reply at all so I am not even sure if they received it. Would anyone be able to help me find and connect with her?
  9. I am trying to convince my husband to leave the leaves, or otherwise, not sweat raking them all.
  10. I remember they did that with the Tim Horton in town. The restaurant had a small parking lot in the front and the built the "new" one behind. When they tore down the old one, it made way for a large parking.
  11. All the challenge threads stay open forever! This also allows you to browse and go back to older challenges if they inspire you. Of course, you can also pick an older challenge and post it in the "What are you working on?" thread for the current month.
  12. There are two main ways to address that: you can install new fonts. When you get a font that interests you, you can double-click on it, and on top of the window that will open, you can see a button to install the font. If it is a font you expect to use often, that would work. If you only plan on using it once in a long while, no need to load your fonts folder you can use a font viewer like TheFontThing or NexusFont. Then, when the fonts are visible in the preview pane, they will become available in PSP. Beware that once you close the font viewer, the font is no longer available in PSP so the text on your project might change, if you have left it only in vector format. Here is an example of how to use TFT to access fonts in PSP. So typically, you can still access all those fonts without having to install them.
  13. I have a weakness for the McDonald's fries (and I add vinegar, not ketchup).
  14. In November, our monthly theme is FAST FOOD. I think we should be able to play around with this theme and list either food, ingredients, or restaurant chains starting with the various letters of the alphabet. Where do we start? Let's go!
  15. It is a new month and new projects. Show off what you are working on in November be it a scrapbook page, a collage, a tutorial, or anything else you want. We are curious and want to see, learn, and get inspired. These threads are quickly becoming a fantastic source of inspiration, support, and friendship. Keep them coming! Remember to size down your image to about 600x600 pixels and save it in .jpg format before posting it (if you are creating a double page, you can resize it to 1000 pixels in width if you don't want to post the pages separately). Here are a few guidelines for everyone: when you post a project, give as much information on your sources or techniques used. It will help others who are curious and would like to do the same. if someone uses something that you like on their page, ask where they got it. Sometimes, you can go get it too and it will be better quality than trying to extract it (as it would have been resized to post in the forum anyway). if it is something that they did from scratch, ask how they did it. It would be so helpful to everyone! if you like a photo and would like to “play with it”, ALWAYS ask permission. Sometimes, there are some limitations and the person is not allowed to let others use it. Don’t get them in trouble. Usually, people are happy to say yes (if they can) when you ask politely. And if you get permission, you might get a better-quality image than the resized image anyway.
  16. The theme for November is FAST FOOD. Some people love it, some people hate it, yet everyone probably has some, at times. Fast food does not HAVE to be bad food (although we know it is typically less healthy). Do you have some favorite fast food? How about some healthy ones? And if you want some fries with that, why not grab the alphabet on the blog post? Let's go! Post your project in the gallery.
  17. Depending on your region, it might already be getting significantly colder (or warmer if you are in the southern hemisphere). What is the weather like? Is it similar to previous years? Let's chat. Snap a picture of your area and share it below.
  18. Keep an eye on your inbox as I am in the process of contacting the winners of the random draw.

    Have been sick

Take care of yourself, and thank you to your husband. It is so great when our partner can help us when we are under the weather. That is love!
  20. I researched and found something interesting about Halloween in Quebec. Here is an article: https://www.decouvertemonde.com/fete-dhalloween-dans-le-monde It seems that the expression "La charité, s'il vous plait" would be a catholic-related phrase. I found interesting the explanation about the colors used at that time too. I guess you would have to use Google translate to read that whole page.
  21. This is a common concern. In fact, it is NORMAL. It is described at the end of that article: convert one copy of the text, so it will resize as you expect.
  22. Interestingly, I grew up in Montreal, in a francophone family and neighbourhood. When going out on Halloween night, we were saying something completely different. In French, we would say "La charité, s'il vous plait", which would simply be a way to beg for food. I have no clue where that comes from. I surely was not the only one saying that, as all the children would repeat the same thing. I'll have to investigate on that.
  23. There are various fonts that have a 3D look but it all depends on what you actually envision. Some will be layered and can give great results. How to use Layered fonts is explained in this article. On the other hand, you can use regular fonts, and apply a bevel around to give it the 3D effect. Yet, another option would be to find an existing alpha in png format. As for the $1 trial, it is for 7 days and you can only use it once (but there is a special coming up for Black Friday).
  24. @Carolyn Rye I am glad you learned something and enjoyed the process at the same time. @Barbara Caulton The text wrapping can be a little tricky but with the correct steps, it should not be a problem. Check this article. It might help. @Anne Lamp Beautiful photos. Well showcased with the color of the page. @Melanie MitchellAs far as language is concerned, my children were raised fluently bilingual too. It was a real gift we were able to offer them. As far as genders, my daughter is the only girl among all the cousins on my husband's side: 8 boys and 1 girl. @Henry Schellenberg Good catching up. The first two projects were already posted. I am glad to see the other three. Remember to fill out the survey once you are done. Your feedback is always welcome. And stay tuned. Tomorrow, I will be making the random draw among 14 participants who completed at least 4 projects. If, like Henry, you have them done but didn't post them, you still have time!
