gwen jewitt Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Day 7 using affinity Photo I followed Caroles instuctions on the video she makes it so easy to follow, I was happy with the result, The photo was taken by someone else there is a flower festival exhibition on at the church it has been on for 3 days, it has been one of the major events in the year long celebration of the 13500th Anniversary of the founding of St Andrews Church . There were 30 exhibits in total and they were all amazing, so beautiful. The font used was Angela. I did a second one using the same photo and I added a dark brown gradient layer to blend in with the stained glass windows the font used was angelina. 13

I never quite got the hang of crochet although I once did a lot of embroidery, knitting, lacemaking and sewing. 7
Corrie Kinkel Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Lesson 7 - Affinity - and we come to the end of the 17 Mile Drive on Monterey Bay in California. On this photo I used a brush from TB Dots01 pack11 after a tip from April Dawn (thanks). I couldn't decide on the color for the dots and therefore made 2 layers for them to give me the opportunity to choose and I ended up by using both with the blendmode Divide. I don't know if it is visible in this reduced version, but there are 2 colors for the dots. The dots have a blur as well. I argued with myself if I should put a layer behind the text with light blue to make it easier to read, but in the end decided that it was ok the way it is when I just used a somewhat darker color for that text. Around my page I used an inked edge from Rachel M Hailey. Carole thank you very much for another great workshop for Affinity which has given me more techniques to use and a better understanding of this program and I consider myself still a newbie here.🤔 I have enjoyed scrolling through all the different layouts for both the programs and the results are fantastic! This is a great community that inspires with all the different ideas and tips. See you in the Campus and/or another Workshop. 1 12
Karen Borgmann Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Here's my Lesson 5 layout. Learning new tricks as I play along. I wish PSP would fix their SCALE mode issue! I hate having to constantly go back and change from shear mode to scale mode when I want to resize. Seems to happen often when I use CTRL+V shortcut, but that's not the only time. 🤷🏼♀️ Okay I feel better! 1 13

Karen we all know this extremely annoying habit of PSP and it is not the only one the program has! Having said that, it still is a fantastic program to use. 6
Donna Sillia Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Day 6 - The photos are mine, the bells are from Adobe Express and the gold frame is from FF. I did not have fun with the voronoi effect. Finally after much effort, I imported Filter Forge into Affinity and applied a FF effect. The font is Brovalgin from CF and the effect was created in Adobe Elements using an edge effect style. The large frame is also from PSE. 2 12
Gerry Landreth Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Day 7 - The final project features my baby sister, Lori, and her husband with their three daughters and nine grandkids. The paper was created in Affinity using a brush from a Photoshop brush pack called Retro Future, which I found on DeviantArt. The mask is by Andrea Gold from DigitalScrapbook.com. The "Scattered Photos" script by Cassel was used to create the collage in Paintshop Pro. 1 13

Is that the same for the Bluejays/Steller Jays too (they make the weirdest and widely different sounds -they are part of the corvid group aren't they?). I'd love to hear a mocking bird, then when I'm in my backyard I could say, "are you mocking me?" ...because we all talk to the birds, right? Yes, they are a member of the corvidae family. They are all also known for their mimicry abilities. We do, I talk to all creatures. It is inaccurate to say bird brain as an insult to someone. As birds posses incredible abilities, and intelligence. Edited June 22 by Sue Thomas 7

I greatly appreciate your kind words. I pride myself on my insect macro photography. It's a passion of mine. These mining bees are around 6-7mm in size. Unfortunately, the details are degraded due to compression. Edited June 22 by Sue Thomas 7
MoniqueN. Posted June 22 Posted June 22 I'm late, life gets in the way sometimes 🙂 And a long weekend break last week too 😉 Here are my two first projects, made with Affinity. Will have a look later at what you guys and girls have made this week. Pictures are mine, taken at a pond garden in the Netherlands 🙂 14

A friend got me started on watching each day for a while, they are fascinating, and it is so great there are cameras so the eagles can be seen. 5
Connie Collier Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Thanks to the whole workshop, I was able to go back to Lesson 1 and do it easily - the first time around I was totally befuddled and kept getting my layers all mixed up! Now I'm going to have to break out my real art supplies to make more material to work with. 1 12
Karen Borgmann Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Here's my layout for Day 6 of the Mask Workshop. Loved how the background paper turned out. Fun new way to make background papers. Thank you for this fun technique! i 3 12

Linda Rexford Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Day 7, this has been a great workshop! Thanks Carole for all the time and work you put into this! The photo as always, is my own. This beautiful bird doesn't show up often and is a treat to see. This one is a male and he was there for a short time one day and gone! We must have been a rest stop for him I have so many brushes I had to play and settled on the leaf brush instead of a polka dot. The brush is from Frankentoon, the mask is from Sheila Reid. 14
Jeni Simpson Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Day 6 PSP I had some difficulty creating masks for these two. I don't know why. These beautiful swans were popular in New Zealand from the late '40s when Crown Lynn began creating them. By the 1980s, they had lost favour, and eventually Crown Lynn stopped making them. For the background here, I placed the linoleum page in as a pattern at 20% and poured it onto my page, which meant a smaller linoleum pattern. I added a preset shape heart and used an AlienSkin glass filter on it, picking out the pale pink in the swan glaze. 1 13
Jeni Simpson Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Day 6 Affinity This one, again, I had difficulty getting rid of the ellipse of the image. I did much the same as with the previous one, once I had added the masked image to the page, I kept using the brush around it totry and cover that oval shape, I didn't manage to completely hide it, however, I used differing sizes of the brush, and still, the shape wouldn't go away! So, there it is in all its glory. If you have difficulty reading the text, it says: These fabulous pieces of pottery were made in New Zealand from the late '40s. They became great 21st gifts, and were sometimes used as vases. There were male, female and baby swans created in quality white clay, glazes often lead-based, some were finished with a white glaze with a green lustre on the lower part of the swan. Most households in New Zealand had one.By the '80s, these swans were no longer in favour and died out. They can be found, now, in antique stores with huge price tags. 14
AprilDawn Posted June 23 Posted June 23 Here is Lesson 7 and the final one for this workshop. which I have enjoyed doing Thank you very much Carole for all your efforts in putting together these workshops especially for Affinity as well as PSP. i am learning a lot from your Affinity tutorials as well as some techniques that i did not know or had forgotten about PSP . For this final Lesson i used a photo from pixabay and another png mask from my purchased collection. The sentement is from a digital stamp. The created element behind the photo was done from a tutorial by Andrew Buckle on his youtube channel graphicxtras.com. This was an easy way to create polkadot pattern in Affinity. Have really enjoyed viewing everyone's creations and i send best wishes to you all, Dawn. 1 14
AprilDawn Posted June 23 Posted June 23 @Corrie Kinkel... i am glad you found those Dot brushes Corrie, there are a few packs of them, did you download them all. Stuart has done a great job creating them and such a variety to choose from. I will be using them often because they will add a great effect especially with masks. best wishes Dawn. 4 1
