  1. hello everyone, i am posting this to let you know that i will not be able to post anything for some time as i have had a very bad fall in my home and broke my wrist and put my whole hand out of action. my head and all body bones an muscles did not do to well either. ended up in hospital. my husband is helping me to write this post. i am thankful it was not my right hand that got damaged. i will try to stop by with hubby's help and view everyones work over the coming weeks. best wishes to you all, Dawn
  2. @Cristina You created a lovely page with Olivia. Thankyou for saying which Lab tutorial you used. Since becoming a Diamond member again i have a lot to catch up on. I have been looking at all the Lab Tutorials and there is a lot to try and keep me busy for quite some time. Best wishes to you Cristina Dawn.
  3. @Corrie Kinkel... i am glad you found those Dot brushes Corrie, there are a few packs of them, did you download them all. Stuart has done a great job creating them and such a variety to choose from. I will be using them often because they will add a great effect especially with masks. best wishes Dawn.
  4. Here is Lesson 7 and the final one for this workshop. which I have enjoyed doing Thank you very much Carole for all your efforts in putting together these workshops especially for Affinity as well as PSP. i am learning a lot from your Affinity tutorials as well as some techniques that i did not know or had forgotten about PSP . For this final Lesson i used a photo from pixabay and another png mask from my purchased collection. The sentement is from a digital stamp. The created element behind the photo was done from a tutorial by Andrew Buckle on his youtube channel graphicxtras.com. This was an easy way to create polkadot pattern in Affinity. Have really enjoyed viewing everyone's creations and i send best wishes to you all, Dawn.
  5. Here is Lesson 6. chose this mask out of my collection of png masks to use on the rose for a different effect. the picture is from a purchased cd . The Voroni filter was a bit of a challenge to get right effect that i wanted but in the end think this filter has possibilities. the sentiment is from a digital stamp by Power Poppy purchased a few years ago. also used another Dot brush TB Dots01-Pack 7 by StuartRc mainly just to give a bit of extra colour around the mask.
  6. @Cristina Thank you for your comments on the layout and brushes in the lessons pages i did. My cousin took a few photos of her trip however she passed away a few years ago but i am sure she would have said the same thing about the lake being a peaceful place. ...... Best wishes to you Cristina.
  7. Hello Jeni, looks like we both found the same brushes on that Affinity Forum with StuartRc brushes. they are really great don't you agree. There is about 12 packs of the different Dot brushes and i downloaded them all. Your Cathedral Cliffs looks terrific with the brush on the edges. best wishes to you, Dawn.
  8. Here is Lesson 5... Photo is from Pixabay. Thought bubble a PSP shape. used the same brush as Carole used in video and leaf image is an old tiff image from a cd i purchased years ago. everyone is doing wonderful pages and a pleasure to view them.
  9. Here is my Lesson 3 and Lesson 4. Both photos were taken by my cousin about 20years ago when she did a group trip. the png masks used on both are from an old software i had called Craft Artist. the brushes used on softening edges are free ones downloaded from an Affinity Forum i found when searching for brushes called TB Dots 01 pack 11.
  10. Here is my Day 2 Lesson inAffinity. This photo was taken by my sister-in-law when she and her husband went on a car trip there about 7 years ago. The Purnululu National Park is in the Bungle Bungle Range in Western Australia and is a World Heritage Site. Thank You Carole for showing how to do Plaid using the photos colours which i used on the background paper it is a technique that i am sure will use often. I will again say that everyone is doing beautiful work in this workshop Best wishes to everyone, Dawn

  14. Carole you asked in your comment about my painted rose whether it on canvas or digital painted .. I hand painted it on a small canvas with acrylic paints and then scanned it into my computer so i could use them on my printed cards etc. I intend to have a go at it digitally in the Free Krita Painting Software some time in the future... hopefully i will succeed doing it that way as i don't do it the traditionial way anymore. Day 7 Last Day of the workshop for vectors..... I am going to keep practising on all that i have learnt.
  15. Day 6 ....Thank You Carole for the brush set they will come in very handy.
  16. Thank You Cristina!. Best wishes to you, Dawn.
  17. Day 5... The Folk Art Rose i painted many years ago at the beginning of my painting journey and I will use this result with the text along path and the circles on a card I intend to make. Everyone is doing great creative work and a pleasure to view. best wishes to all,
  18. Here is my Day 3 . it is really my first attempt at using pen tool or doing any real sort of vectors. I could not do them in PSP but i am finding it a bit easier in Affinity. Thank you Carole for your great instructions .. I know i will need to do a lot of practise. have also enjoyed looking at everyones creativity for this workshop and well done to all. best wishes, Dawn.
  19. First of all i want to say Thank You to Carole for this workshop. Even though this is just Lesson 2 i am learning a bit about vector tools. For this lesson chose the Spiral Tool and the Rounded Rectangle tool. Created presets for them and saved them as shape presets and not assets. I also turned preset 1 into a pattern and filled the Rounded Rectangle preset with it.
  20. I will be doing this workshop also. Have not done a lot with vectors but decided to do this one for Affinity .
  21. This post is for anyone who might have an old software called Craft Artist 2 created by Serif but was discontinued and not supported a few years ago. Although the programme still continued to work it seems to be having problems working on Windows 11 from comments i have see on the internet. I started to have problems with it working a few months ago and recently it started to cause bigger problems so i uninstalled it. I kept all my Craft Atist Digi Kits that were made for it and purchased from Daisy Trail ( no longer exists) hopeful for a time when there would be a way to convert these .pack files to something that i could use in other programmes. Happily and by accident i came across youtube channel Juney Martins Rua and she had a video called Craft Artist Digi Kits to Affinity Designer Assets where she explains and shows how to convert these .pack files to pngs. I have tried her instructions on 2 .pack files so far and the process works. You do not have to put them into Affinity Designer or Photo if you don't want to, i keep mine in the folder in Pictures on my computer that way can access them for any programme as they are converted to png's. After file is converted one thing extra i do is delete any of the images i know will never use or don't like, to keep the file size down a bit. Also when following her instructions used a copy of the oringinal pack file to use for converting so to keep the original intact for future need if necessary. i am so happy it worked for me because i have a few kits now that i will be able to continue to use in projects here in the campus. i forgot to mention that there are 2 videos for this on her channel, 1 was about 2 years ago and 1 that is about month old, the month old video is the best to use, that is what i chose to follow. hope this info can be helphul to anyone who has these .pack files from Craft Artist, as I did ask Carole if it would be OK to post it. Dawn.
  22. Hi Susan, i have in the past posted some cards where have used line art drawings that i have pencil coloured. I intend to do more of them some time in the future and will use them again and some new ones when get them scanned into my computer. Hello Jeni , I also use Prisma ,Polychromos and Inktense pencils i really find it relaxing to colour with them. as i can't freehand draw i use old tiff lineart floral drawings that are in my stash and also line art digital stamps that i have purchased and some freebies .. just enjoy sitting down for awhile and colouring them up and use them in my cardmaking.. i can highly recommend Kit and Clowder here in Australia for classes using Pencils or Markers . Best wishes to you both, Dawn.
  23. Thank you to everyone who left kind comments on my Bird Paintings really appreciated it. spent many hours back then learning how to paint with oils, but enjoyed it. Thank You Anne Lamp for your post with comment about thinners, it was very thoughtful of you to do that. These days i have chosen to paint with Watercolor Pencils and Prisma Color pencils for my little bit of artwork. find it better for my health and it is relaxing and enjoyable , mainly colour florals now, have not attempted to colour birds with pencils yet... maybe one day. Best wishes, Dawn.
