He's been gone a long time (born in 1892-died 1981) but I still miss him. I update and post this same layout every year in his honor. As you can see, he was a railroad man - chief night dispatcher for the Erie Railroad for over 40 years. I have noticed that you post this layout every year and it is a lovely tribute to your dad. At the same time it remembers me of my own dad who passed away in1981 too, but in august and like you I still miss him. 5 1
Julie Magerka Posted June 15 Posted June 15 2 hours ago, Corrie Kinkel said: Julie a beautiful tribute to your grandmother and however the hardship must have been she is also traveling to her husband. Hopefully that thought will have sustained her during the crossing. Did your mother tell about it, she was old enough to remember some of it. I'm sorry to hear about your sister, it must be hard on you to see her like this. Sadly, I don't think her husband was much comfort. He was unreliable and volatile according to reports. And he died young (in his 30s) leaving her with four kids. But maybe initially she was looking forward to their new lives. No one ever talked about it. What I know I have pieced together over the years. Thanks for your kind comments about my sister. It's a real heartbreaker. 5
Julie Magerka Posted June 15 Posted June 15 This is just a simple little note to everyone here at the Campus. It's such a special place to be part of, and I just wanted to say thanks to all for their never-ending kindness and support. For those who don't know the show, the "cheers" is an inside joke from a sitcom. 11

Great layout and I think everyone feels the same too. So cool having the heart shaped tear in the papers with the logo showing through. 2 5

I was in my mid-twenties and still regret not knowing him better in my adulthood, as I moved away for school when I was 17 and stayed in that area until a few years after his death. 6 1

Here, we learn from Carole and each other. We share not only our work but also the good times and the not-so-good moments. This is a very supportive community and … 🎵“Everybody Knows our Name” 🎵 😊 1 7

Isn't it a small world after all because I living in the Netherlands have seen almost all the cheers episodes too. Some when they were firstly broadcasted on the BBC and others at the many repetitions that came later on different networks. Somehow it feels that although we are so many miles apart, we are so close as well. Btw a very lovely layout! 4 1
Mary Solaas Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Lab 14 Mod 6. This one was definitely not my favorite - I really don't like torn paper and never used it when I was doing physical scrapbooking. However, I have several of the torn pieces of paper 2 of which I used in this layout. The bubble paper was interesting and I made several papers and a pattern also. Oh, yes, I did make a mask of the torn paper and it was made from the layers>mask layer> from image - I finally got it to incorporate the edges that were feathered and not of the same opacity as the center. I've used the pictures before. the ribbon of fish was made in another lab and the cluster of fishing equipment was made for another layout and lab. 2 5

Mary Solaas Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Lab 14 Mod 7 - Requirements: Paint drippings (I attached them to MLerin paint palette- red, yellow, blue) on the layout. The enamel element (the flowers which I will show separately). The photos were taken by my son Joseph of his wife giving a painting lesson to the children at the RV Park in Indiana where they are spending the summer. The background paper, Word Circle Frame around Laurie and the painting supply elements are from Merissa.Lerrin (PixelScrapper) the School of Art Kit. The font used in the layout is AdventureIslandScript. 8

I'm so behind with the Lab's tutorials, so seeing your work gives me a boost to go back and start working with it. 🙂 4 1

Sue Thomas Posted June 27 Posted June 27 (edited) I won the knot 17script. It wasn't until today, that I found the ideal opportunity to try it out. With the new generation of ground squirrels, that have followed in their parents footsteps, by trusting me to come for some tasty morsals. It takes time and patience, but well worth it. The script worked a treat, adding a unique element to the layout. The corner punch is one of Carole's, the rest is mine, taking colours from the photos. Edited June 27 by Sue Thomas 7

Cristina Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Today, I decided to dedicate my available time to practice the Lab tutorials. No Affinity or PSE learning, but working with PSP… well, kind of. 😊 This is from the Lab12 Module 06 (PaintStreaks#2 – Mandala – Gold Texture). I missed the Stabilizer option that Affinity has, but I was happy with the results. Additionally, what a great idea to use the Quick Script. This layout was created using PSP and PSE. It was my first time creating a page in PSE, but aside from Cassel’s tutorials and picture tube, I did everything else in PSE. These are just the first steps; there's much more to learn to work the same way I do in PSP. Credits: Background paper from Lilypad prd-BasicallyKrafts#12. Frames by Lynn Grieveson FramePairs#1. Cassel: DateStamp#8 script and Sprinkles-Cindy Picture Tube freebie. 8

Nice that you show the starting point for your layout! 2 1

That knot works so well on this layout of the new ground squirrels and the big cornerpunch add to the charme. The photos of this little ones coming to you are two of the loveliest of all the photos of ground squirrels that you showed here over the years. I have said it before but you live in the most beautiful place! 3 1
