It is a new month and new projects.

Show off what you are working on in February be it a scrapbook page, a collage, a tutorial, or anything else you want.

We are curious and want to see, learn, and get inspired.

These threads are quickly becoming a fantastic source of inspiration, support, and friendship. Keep them coming!

Remember to size down your image to about 600x600 pixels and save it in .jpg format before posting it (if you are creating a double page, you can resize it to 1000 pixels in width if you don't want to post the pages separately).

Here are a few guidelines for everyone:

  • when you post a project, give as much information on your sources or techniques used. It will help others who are curious and would like to do the same.
  • if someone uses something that you like on their page, ask where they got it. Sometimes, you can go get it too and it will be better quality than trying to extract it (as it would have been resized to post in the forum anyway).
  • if it is something that they did from scratch, ask how they did it. It would be so helpful to everyone!
  • if you like a photo and would like to “play with it”, ALWAYS ask permission. Sometimes, there are some limitations and the person is not allowed to let others use it. Don’t get them in trouble. Usually, people are happy to say yes (if they can) when you ask politely. And if you get permission, you might get a better-quality image than the resized image anyway.

Here's my monthly Wild Cat Calendar for February. The template is from our Oct 2024 Calendar Workshop. The photo is from Panthera and was a black and white which I have selectively colorized. The title font is Babilonia and the background paper is from Marisa Lerin. I have posted a version suitable for printing in the Files section of our Facebook group page at Scrapbooking with PSP and Affinity

I created this to practice the lessons from the Lab12-M05 (Random Dots2  --  Triangle Pattern 4  -- Embossed Pattern).

I kept it simple so it would not take too much time.  I saw this layout years ago on the Internet and have since created other pages using the same style.

Papers: freebie from DiHiller PSJuly2021.

I'm quite interested in that embossed pattern effect. I must get to that Lab!

@Cristina I can't believe it. I posted this to you just about 15 min. ago and it disappeared. Well, anyway. I really love this. It's a stunning way to interpret that module. Way to go, girl!

It's not difficult, and this feature will fit your calendar layouts.

This is the original I got off the internet.   I changed the font of the word Berlin to make it bolder than the original.

Ann, I am sure this will work well, as even the word Nashville was not created with a thin font.

National Geo. magazine sends me emails about their features. They have an article about lesser-known wild cats. Because I don't subscribe, I wasn't able to see more than one.

Nice generic layout style, and great paper choices!

Yes, I'm a subscriber and get those, also. Right now I'm using Panthera, which focuses on the larger cats.

They are so cute when they are tiny!   But I do love wild cats.

I created this in Affinity after following a short tutorial on "Easy way to put an Image inside text". A few days ago, I made another one to insert a gold texture.

I found it interesting that he clicked on the Text layer, and this was selected. Also, how the shadow was added (Edit>Fill with secondary color), the use of Live Filters, and so forth.    These are the things I'm interested in learning now.

Remember when I said I was not going to do any scrapping yet? Forget about. 😁

After watching lots of videos about the tools in PSE, I needed something light.   My choice was an easy YouTube tutorial by Melissa Shanhun, whom I’ve known on Facebook for a long time and who has worked with PSE for over 15 years.   So, I decided to scraplift her layout in PSE and Affinity.

She offered a freebie from Pink Reptile Designs, which was incomplete… Papers, scatter, and a few other elements were not there, although they were shown on the mini kit preview.  So, I opened my old and good PSP and created my papers, following some of Cassel’s tutorials.  To substitute her daughter's photo, I used 2 different pictures from Pixabay.

It's not about the layouts but the little bits of knowledge we gain when we do it, as well as the issues we encounter.

One thing I like about PSE (like PSP) is the possibility of linking layers (just click the Link Icon).  In both Affinity and PSE, I like that we can select part of a paper or photo and click the mask layer... And it's done in a non-destructive way.

First Affinity, second PSE.

Melissa and I were in the same "startup" forum before we each launched our sites. The forum was called "Foolish University". That is where I "met" her. Whenever someone asks me a question related to PSE, that is where I point them.

I didn't know that; this is really a small world.   However, I've noticed since I started here that the first Lab (5-Module 09) uses a layout made by her.

Now, as I work and look up information about Affinity and PSE, the YouTube algorithm suggests videos from her that have never happened before.

I am working on a design for a community Mural for the community garden where I live, the outlines of the design will be traced onto paper and transferred to a square made of either multiple mini canvases or multiple tiles and different community members will colour in their portion of their design however floats their boat, then the design will be reassembled, possibly framed and hung on the garden wall. In consultation with the other craft group members this is the design we have put together from a painting of a garden plaque. I used several 3d effects to emphasise the edges and then added a vector circle and added text on a path with a quote we all liked.

When we eventually finish the project I will take a photo and update.

You've been busy, Anja!   Lovely layouts.

It's a pity you didn't get the Affinity 90-day trial version.  You could use it in the Magazine Workshop starting in about two weeks, on February 17.

Back on the Prairies, it's an almost white out, and snowing, which isn't anything new for this time of year.   What better way to spend the afternoon indoors, in the warm being creative.

I downloaded Carole's  freebie mask from Creation Cassel blog.  I like to creatve my own elements, which may be time consuming on times, but well with it.  It is always a sence of achievment, especially when I can remember how to do them without having to refer to tutorials.
